  1. Averages calculated from brim to brim fill ups are the only meaningful figures. OBC readouts are heavily influenced by when it was reset and read
  2. I believe the rad fan also comes on to cool the a/c intercooler rad mounted in front of the engine rad. At least on other cars I've owned...
  3. The severity of the effect diminishes as the tyre sidewall height increases
  4. My Bridgestone tyres 'skipped' when brand new but only when the temperature dropped low enough...
  5. Can you opt to go to their depot for the fitting? I had one fitted by Autoglass in their warm and dry fitting centre.
  6. Quite high consumers, surely? Wouldn't they deplete the traction battery quite quickly?
  7. Plus, I was told that a car left unlocked will draw less on the battery than a locked car.
  8. Would switching to Eco mode give a similar run time but with at least some level of climate control?
  9. The engine is spun up by one of the electric motors (MG1?) powered by the traction battery. Massively more powerful than a traditional starter motor. IIRC it spins the engine up to the correct revs before the ignition actually starts.
  10. I don't feel there's much to worry about. Given how relatively rare the cars are there's not much chance of your number plate being used to ring a stolen car.
  11. There didn't seem any logic to it. My C class with Thermatic didn't but the same model with Thermotronic climate control did but not all cars. We never discovered why..
  12. Generally speaking once set why would one need to change the vents? Not all Mercs had illuminated vent wheels, even in the same model range, some did some didn't. Bit like to non-illuminated lighting switch..
  13. Is the car going to be imported to Denmark, or a temporary stay? If the latter, nothing needed. The former, probably needs headlamp units swapping for compliance with regulations?
  14. Probably about 2 miles, driving through town
  15. Can one switch off the car side of the keyless entry system? I know one can disable the fob from transmitting the access signal but the car will still scan for it. From my handbook - Battery-saving function The battery-saving function will be activated in order to prevent the electronic key battery and the 12-volt battery from being discharged while the vehicle is not in operation for a long time. ● In the following situations, the smart entry & start system may take some time to unlock the doors. • The electronic key has been left within approximately 2 m (6 ft.) of the outside of the vehicle for 10 minutes or longer. • The smart entry & start system has not been used for 5 days or longer. ● If the smart entry & start system has not been used for 14 days or longer, the doors cannot be unlocked at the passenger door. In this case, hold the driver’s door handle, or use the wireless remote control or mechanical key, to unlock the doors.
  16. Plus power the easy entry and alarm systems? IIRC the entry system shuts down after a prolonged period of inactivity. So, yes the 12v battery doesn't have any great demands on it..
  17. Yes there will be a button to disable the interior sensors, usually in the overhead console.
  18. Just be aware after that period of time the smart entry system will shut down and will have to open the car using the fob or mechanical key.
  19. Give it a few tank fulls before comparing. Do the brim-to-brim calculations and compare with the OBC figures.
  20. How about dropping the rim size to something smaller but still an option for the model, usually detailed in the handbook? Smaller rim diameter means higher tyre profile and (usually) cheaper and more available. More expense to buy the rims but IMHO far better to switch wheels and tyres complete rather than constantly mounting and de-mounting tyres?
  21. After only 2 weeks ownership I would take it back for a check, even just for peace of mind.
  22. There is no issue. It's a symptom of wide, low profile summer tyres in cold weather
  23. First time I noticed it I thought I'd run over a brick whilst turning!
