  1. I doubt it as it has already been stated the UK will follow the EU regs irrespective.
  2. Coming from Mercedes this is the thing I really miss with my RC! I expressed my disappointment to Lexus UK, who were sympathetic but said there were no plans to introduce such a thing. A minor niggle in what is otherwise a great car.
  3. Unless you intend using the car on track days I would say stick with original parts as specified by the designers
  4. Doesn't the IS have artificial 'gear' changes when in Sport mode, like the RC? When in Sport mode the revs rise and fall exactly as one would expect with each gear change as shown by the rev counter. Put the transmission into Sport (manual) as well and one can enjoy instantaneous shifts using the paddles, bit PlayStation-esque but great fun!
  5. All Lexus hybrids have e-CVT transmissions, have a read here https://blog.lexus.co.uk/perfect-partners-e-cvt-and-hybrid/ Luxury is the base level in the model range, very well optioned in comparison with other marques but 'entry' level with respect to Lexus
  6. You can also download the handbooks from the same location onto your phone/tablet, great for sitting in the car and going through the sequences
  7. 6yr old tyres! I thought the recommendation was to change at 5yrs max?
  8. It's all in the Nav handbook, well worth the read.
  9. Video in motion is illegal in the UK. Back seat entertainment system is the only way to go.
  10. There are two types of tyre pressure monitoring systems, direct and indirect. Direct - each wheel has a sensor that measures pressure and transmits this to the car. Lexus models differ in how this is displayed. Some display individual pressures for each wheel. Others only have a warning lamp that illuminates should one or more tyres dip below a threshold pressure. This can be a very sensitive system, generally alerting at ~10% deviation Indirect - the car uses the ABS sensors to monitor wheel revolutions, should one or more wheels show a significant increase in rpm the system assumes one or more tyres are deflating, thereby reducing the rolling circumference. The system will illuminate a warning lamp. A crude system alerting at ~25% deviation As posted above all cars after 2012 must have some form of TPMS
  11. It the speed camera alert, should be approx 500m before the camera. It won't beep for mobile cameras or those installed since the mapping (Nav data) was created.
  12. Because it's meant by design to be left on ..
  13. Press the EV button within 5sec of Hybrid system ready if you want to stop the cold engine firing up (must be pressed before engine fires-up). Useful for quiet early morning getaways. Get the dealership to programme global window/sunroof opening on long key-fob open press. Great for ventilating the car on hot summer days.
  14. North American cars are LHD!
  15. Aren't LHD ES models manufactured in Kentucky? "Following a $360 million investment, the existing Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky plant was geared up for Lexus production with a new assembly line and an additional 750 jobs. Production of the ES 350 model that is particularly popular in North America began in the autumn of 2015, taking pressure off Kyushu, which will carry on producing other ES and ES hybrid models. The Georgetown facility is expected to produce 50,000 units a year." https://blog.lexus.co.uk/where-are-lexus-cars-made/
  16. Do you not have an A/C button on the climate control panel? On my RC the Auto button simply controls the airflow and fan speed to maintain the desired cabin temperature. There is a separate button (A/C) to switch the compressor on and off. It is also possible to change the function of the A/C button via the customisation menu, check your handbook for details
  17. I've always stuck to the recommended pressures, even on a 12yr old car and many tyre changes. Never had an abnormal wear problem.
  18. Can you display how many satellites the system is seeing? Slow and/or inaccurate positioning is usually down to GPS antenna problems
  19. I've always wondered how long it take to paint and assemble a car. That said it will be approx 4 months from order to delivery for my new RC and IIRC it was just a 4 week boat trip for my current RC. I imagine getting a build slot takes time as RC are only built in Japan and there's a huge demand from the States. Getting excited again now ..
  20. Lots of compliments, seems many Merc owners also run a Lexus as their daily driver. Everyone commented on the absolute reliability of the marque. Very telling and often mentioned, not a single MB hybrid to be seen at the show. It was a great day with close to 100 cars attending, all shining in the sunshine. They raised a lot of money for charity. A rose between two thorns?
  21. On my 2016 RC it will read SMS fine but if I enable Bluetooth tethering (for live traffic updates on the nav screen) it no longer functions.
  22. All clean and ready to show off at my Mercedes meet tomorrow!
  23. Must admit to thinking these accessories were all dealer fitted even when optioned at purchase? A quick phone call to your dealer needed?
  24. Have a look here, regarding your phone compatibility https://www.lexus-tech.eu/Bluetooth/searchdedicated.aspx?lang=en
