    You should have 3yrs free updates with a new car, so basically you have approx 18 months left. Download the multimedia handbook and all is detailed therein. I'd recommend not using the OTA update as this can kill the speed camera alerts. Instead download to a USB instead.

    Had them on my first RC and have them on my RX, well worth it for keeping the majority of muck off the sides and rear of the car. As the protection pack is a post-manufactured addition, it's not too late...

    The VED rate is determined on the list price of the car ruling at the date of first registration, not when the car was ordered/paid for/delivered....

    On our jaunts down to Devon and Cornwall (OK not 1300 miles but a good 250 non-stop) in the RX450h we are seeing around 35mpg. As you, I tend to stick around the speed limits and the RX is superbly designed to just cruise along, stress free.

    Have you tested if it would stop, try placing a thick roll of fabric in the way? My RX has pressure sensors all down both sides of the tailgate

    The latest models, l believe, all have pedestrian alert sounds that come on when moving under electric power only. Doesn't help when the pedestrian is wearing noise cancelling ear buds though!

    Who advised you? Didn't Lexus do a scan of error codes when they replaced the sensor? If they suggested the loom needs replacing did they say why it needs replacing?

    It's usually detailed in the Maintenance section of the handbook but I'd guess at it being under vehicle settings in the multimedia screen

    Very unusual for something like the plastic housing to suffer from the weather. These cars (well all marques) are tested in climate chambers, to temps far lower than we see here, even in the far north. Japan's north island, Hokkaido, would experience cold temps. Has the housing been subjected to any sharp knocks or stress at any time?

    I watched Baby Driver, loved the car chases and the wonderful synchronisation to the music (great soundtrack), even down to the windscreen wipers sweeping in time to the beat

    If the car has received an OTA map update it is known to disable the alerts. One must then reinstall the update via the USB or just get the dealership to sort it out.
