Indeed but Richard from Comand.co.uk is the guru, often advising the dealerships! He did all my MB upgrades. Some upgrades are not as simple as enabling just that function, often needing other tweaks to subordinate/ancillary functions/routines. Just something to be aware of

Certainly was the case with Mercedes. I had a number of 'upgrades' done simply by software enabling those functions. Whether Lexus dealers would do it I don't know. Mercedes dealers wouldn't as not sanctioned by Germany. One would have to find someone experienced with Techstream and aware of any subtle knock-on effects.

This is usually down to grade differentiation, 'lower' grade models can't have all the options/functions of the 'higher' grade models. Otherwise whats is there to drive prospective buyers to 'upgrade'?

Exactly this. I set the desired temperature and set everything on auto that includes recirc, fan speed and air distribution and rarely every change anything (maybe temp if my passengers request it). My experience with SEAT, Mercedes and Lexus is that these systems perfectly maintain themselves, quickly settle to the desired conditions with the minimum hysteresis. I have never had strange smells from the climate control. Yes most a/c compressors shutdown at approx 5c to prevent the evaporator from freezing up but if one keeps the inside of the windows properly cleaned, misting is only a transient thing at first start-up.

From reading Lexus-EU-Tech docs (specifically for the RC300h) regen is only a function of the (foot) braking system. If one uses the paddles to induce engine braking one only achieves the same level of regen as if one simply lifts of the throttle. But as you discovered at each down-shift the car will invoke regenerative braking to bring down the engine revs to within the optimal for that gear range. When using regenerative braking (by applying the foot brake) the engine is stopped and effectively de-coupled from the drivetrain by operating MG1 to relieve MG2 of any engine drag, thereby maximising the regen efficiency It's a fiendishly clever and complex system,..

I'd imagine the door armrest would be separate from the door card, so easily replaceable. Repairable as Rayaan says but not sure it would be invisible enough personally I'd replace the armrest

I love these technical discussions, one learns something every day. In my experience, as posted above, if I use the paddles to restrict the gear range (I'm in normal drive mode) going down the long steep hill to home, the engine revs rise but the regen meter shows minimal recovery. If I leave the transmission in D(again in normal mode) and gently apply the foot brake I can get maximum regen on the meter all the way down. Does the regen meter not display recovery then, if the system works as @Britprius describes? Or is what John describes only true when the traction battery is fully charged already?

Not in my experience. if one invokes engine braking, by using the paddles/selector to restrict the gear range, increasing engine revs but no extra regen. Regen only with brake pedal application and yes, only if the traction battery requires it (easily 90% of the time)

If the old wheels and TPMS sensors weren't far enough away when the new ones were added it will have caused problems. May even added them as a second set. Check your handbook on how to switch between sets?
