  2. Doesn't the a/c direct more cooled air to the floor when the ventilated seat function is selected? In the RC there is a synergy between the two functions, with the a/c controlling the seat fan speed under certain conditions. The swap may well be physically possible but there may be numerous control factors and coding required. Without 'official' Lexus retro-fit support I doubt it would be fully functioning..
  3. Built on special request would have to mean it's been assembled from spares and that would be hugely expensive (never mind the labour costs)!! My guess is they were unsold 2016 models that have been doing the rounds in Japan dealerships and finally shipped over here, quite possibly "on special request". Looking at the spec, did the GSF have 12.3" touch audio/nav display back in 2016? Maybe some (expensive) retro-fits?
  4. Have you tried pressing and holding for 5sec? I'd suggest taking it back to the garage for them to sort, if they caused the problem..
  5. From the above mentioned handbook .. "Switching to EV drive mode when the gasoline engine is cold If the hybrid system is started while the gasoline engine is cold, the gasoline engine will start automatically in order to warm up. In this case, you will become unable to switch to EV drive mode To prevent gasoline engine warm up in order to reduce noises, start the hybrid system without starting the gasoline engine, pressing the power switch with fully depressing the brake pedal and pressing the EV drive mode switch." This is slightly different from the process in my RC, where one puts the car into the Ready state and then presses the EV mode switch. This 2019 RC model waits a considerably longer period of time before starting the gasoline engine compared with the 2016 model
  6. According to the 2014 GS (the OP's model year) handbook the car does have an EV mode switch (page 260) which works in the same way as the mode in the 2019 RC..
  7. You changed the oil and filter but has the level been re-checked? Does the RX have a dipstick, or maybe just the tube?
  8. Two of the speakers are double cones i.e. two speakers in one unit. Each end of the dashboard..
  9. One can force the car into EV mode even on a cold start if one presses the EV button before the ICE starts (at least one can on the RC), usually within 5sec of the Ready light illuminating..
  10. If it is a glass break sensor, why only on the one side (behind the driver on a RHD)?
  11. You and me both ... Lexus couldn't even say if mud flaps will be available at some point in the future .. That said they still haven't produced a UK brochure for the 2019 RC300h !!
  12. Then why not vent them from outside? Cabin air is going to be a more constant temperature maybe that's better for the batteries? They seem to perform better in the summer months
  13. I wonder why Lexus saw the need to add this? It wasn't there on the previous model IIRC?
  14. Are you sure it's for demisting? Have you seen it in operation? I'm assuming yours is a LHD version? The same quarter window on my RC would be behind the driver's seat (RHD) and I must admit to thinking this was some sort of antenna wiring not for demisting. I have used the demist a couple of times now and have not noticed (but then haven't looked, speciically) anything clearing ...
  15. Your Lexus dealership?
  16. If you can invoke the ABS when braking hard then there's nothing wrong and perhaps you need to read the road better and moderate the speed. There is virtually no retardation through the hybrid transmission, one must feather the brakes to use the regeneration function, hydraulic braking only comes in at lower speed or heavy pedal application. Pretty sure Lexus has specified the brakes to safely arrest the car all situations.
  17. Gazed at it in amazement, still so clean after standing 2 weeks (whilst we were on holiday - South America) the Lexus (GEN3) glass coat is working well..
  18. Spotted outside a rest stop on the Pan Americas highway through Ecuador
  19. I thought alignment/tracking was done routinely at annual service? Certainly was on my RC.
  20. I can generally concur with Renato's post above, the 2019 RC is an improvement on the already fine 2016 model. As I'm currently bouncing and crashing along some truly atrocious roads high in the Peruvian Andes I can only dream of cruising along the relatively glass-like roads of the UK in my RC ...
  21. If it's the latest Lexus protect stuff, actually it's GEN3 glass coat, the GEN3 website specifically says not to use waxes or polishes. Their Glasscoat wash solution works really well if somewhat uninspiring, absolutely no suds at all .. They say the coating is safe with "well maintained" car washes.
  22. Interesting, I had the standard audio in my first RC and now have ML in my current RC. The difference is night and day, the ML being so much more open and detailed. Bass is far deeper and more solidly controlled. The standard audio was more than adequate but the ML is streets ahead... and this is at comfortable listening levels (I hate beat-box cars..) and tone controls level, DSP on. I'm loving it and well worth the extra in such a quiet car.
  23. A low mileage, infrequently used (garage queen) car can be more problematic than a car that is in constant use doing many miles.
  24. Does the alarm have it's own back-up battery?
