  1. If the battery is located within the cabin or load area it is often AGM as they are very resistant to spillage in the event of an accident.
  2. Mmm.. Just tried this on my car and nothing happened until I opened the door. Lexus-tech.eu for my car only mentions while the auxiliary battery is connected, even if the power switch is off, the brake control system activates if the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switches operated. Therefore when servicing the brakes do not open/close the doors or depress the brake pedal if the auxiliary battery is connected. I would imagine there would be an additional warning about approaching the vehicle carrying the key fob, if what you say happened?
  3. There's going to be one hell of a backlog in 6 months, MoT stations will be inundated..
  4. AGM batteries use sulphuric acid/water mix just as traditional wet or flooded batteries do. In fact I believe all batteries use sulphuric acid/water as the electrolyte https://www.batterystuff.com/kb/articles/5-battery-types-explained-sealed-agm-gel.html
  5. Yes, I did this with my CLS55 and it's pretty much what the CTEK is designed for, permanent connection
  6. I used one of those on my CLS55, only problem was just opening the boot to check the connector indicators would always drop the light from green to amber! But very convenient for a quick connection, I left the leads permanently attached to the battery (well my MB dealership connected it all up for me!) and simply tucked the connector into the trim when not used.
  7. Definitely not true! TPMS is simply measuring the air pressure within the tyres. It makes no odd which tyres are fitted. When did you check the tyres pressures? To get the correct value the tyres must be cold, not driven for at least 4hrs and not in direct sunlight. Early morning is the best time to check.
  8. The traction battery will be fine for many weeks. The 12v battery could be hooked up to a maintenance charger, if you have access to mains supply? I have used and would recommend the CTEK mxs 5. Just connect to the 12v battery and leave connected for the duration.
  9. Can you change the resonant frequency of the exhaust by using worm drive hose clips around the pipe and/or silencer(s)?
  10. A clean car always drives better! That said it's just started peeing down here
  11. I've always believed that if one only uses a car infrequently one must ensure that when it is driven everything gets up to full working temperatures. That should also include the exhaust, making sure to drive out and dry out condensation, otherwise one could be accelerating corrosion in the exhaust.
  12. I believe the only mode in which the traction battery doesn't get charged is 'N' (neutral) I was also under the impression the accelerator is 'disabled' when the brake pedal is depressed?
  13. The groove isn't really that deep, I can feel it with my fingernail but it hasn't got deeper, it just looks more concentrated, if that makes sense?
  14. Perhaps not related, as there was no sound/screeching whatever but I had this in January Which has now gone to this after ~1k miles Dealership advised just to monitor the wear as they checked it over (in January) and found nothing amiss
  15. Buyers are always quick to complain, slow to praise. I have had an MXS 5 for 6yrs, no problems at all.
  16. I was also under the impression that one shouldn't use the hybrid to jump start another car. I thought it was to do with the fact hybrids don't have the traditional alternator charging system of non hybrids and their 12v batteries were not of the same charge capacity as they aren't used to start the engine of a hybrid car as they only power the entry system and start-up computers?
  17. Presuming we are talking of the 12 volt battery, not the traction battery? Perfectly safe to use a conditioner such as the CTEK without having to disconnect the battery. CTEK sell leads designed to fit to the battery, with a quick connector for the charger. I had such permanently installed in my Mercedes.
  18. A shame but not unexpected and completely understandable. Something to look forward to once we come through all this
  19. Yup! 198k trouble free miles covered over 8yrs! SEAT Alhambra, great family bus
  20. My dad always said don't buy a green car, they're unlucky... The first brand new car I ever bought was,,, green! In the first week of ownership I got rear ended at a roundabout by a distracted mum driver. Within 6 months I got hit by a wayward articulated lorry, removing front bumper, nearside wing and door mirror... Within 2 years I had the rear door stoved in (whilst parked) by an OAP driving a courtesy car from a crash repair company.. 5 years into ownership a learner driver T-boned me at a roundabout, destroying the nearside rear quarter, alloy wheel and suspension... I still love the colour green on cars and it looks especially good on the RC...
