  1. I'd have thought if it were viable then they would offer an exchange service?
  2. There is often a multi-hole grommet fitted in the bulkhead in the junction with the inner wing on the same side as the engine bay fuse box, to allow the main loom through
  3. The ballast/controller on that side may be faulty. I believe the ballast is attached beneath the headlamp unit. Techstream diagnosis would be able to confirm what's wrong.
  4. I seem to recall that Mercedes Benz techs got bonuses for completing jobs more quickly than the official book time. An example, I needed both engine mounts replacing on my CLS55, book time for the job was 4hrs. The actual time taken was 45min for the moment the car was on the ramp! Techs learn quicker ways to access things. I wouldn't call it a shortcut, as that implies shoddy workmanship, just a more efficient method.
  5. Dealerships should be responding to emails? They could then email you proof?
  6. It produces enough in a steep 1/2 mile descent to my house to bring the charge level from 1/3rd to nearly full.
  7. Indeed, it will remain off until the traction battery requires charge and depending on the original charge level that could be a long time..
  8. I never thought she was being serious. Nice to watch though, very easy on the eye. The car of course is sublime..
  9. There is no alternator on a hybrid car, the 12v battery is recharged via the traction battery.....
  10. Swindon hydrogen refuelling station is on the Honda site, which is closing, so not sure what will befall that. Have seen many hydrogen fuel vehicles (buses and taxis predominantly) going in and out from there over the years, all on the backs of transporters!
  11. I agree William, I think it's a grandiose term for something that's not really what I understand as a learning neural net. It does though show how relatively complicated it is to control an a/c system. I do believe that the monitoring of driver/passenger temperature has been implemented, just cannot recall which marque it was. I think the 'neural network' in the Lexus is trying to account for how individuals experience temperature depending on environment. Clever stuff all the same..
  12. A couple of excerpts From this doc. Air Con System Description.pdf
  13. Thanks John I've also learnt that the a/c on my RC is controlled by a three layer 'neural network'!
  14. Even if they were to fit, would they be the correct spring rate for the IS200?
  15. @Britprius John I was just reading this lexus-tech.eu doc regarding the a/c system on my RC300h, am I correct in my understanding that the a/c compressor and it's electric motor are both immersed in oil? It does say that the actual compressor is the same scroll type used generally but just electrically driven, so would the oil immersion prevent the rotary shaft seals from drying out? (if nothing else this COVID-19 lockdown is teaching me lots about hybrid batteries and electronics!! )
  16. Holy cr*p Pete! Glad to hear you're on the mend, that sounds a close shave.. Rest up and come back stronger..
  17. Does the alarm have its own rechargeable battery, as is the case with Mercedes?
  18. Do Lexus not have an immobiliser fitted as standard? The alarm is just that, to signal an intrusion but I thought all modern cars had immobilisers fitted to prevent starting the car without the correct security code signal? Are the two the same integrated unit, disable one disable both?
  19. Pretty sure jump start procedure is detailed in the owner's handbook?
