  1. When the car is in charge mode the petrol engine is running and recharging the traction battery and driving the wheels. The car may go into charge mode when braking gently, using regenerative braking. The electric motors are acting as alternators and the mechanical brakes are not operating until the speed drops too low or braking demand increases above what the regen can accommodate
  2. Lexus Swindon have always served me well over two purchases and fours years of ownership. Nothing has been too much trouble. First class from the whole team
  3. That's pretty much how I understood the system operates. I'm sure it's been explained on here before with regard to regen v hydraulic braking.
  4. Routinely see fully charged except for the very last segment.
  5. Perfectly normal, especially in the more humid weather..
  6. Nice! Dressed tyres always lifts even the cleanest, shiniest car. Looks new again
  7. I have no idea but I have used this on my metal bits, to good effect. It works on (virtually) all metals.. MEGUIARS NXT GENERATION ALL METAL POLISH
  8. Seems to be the capacitor for the brake control. Quite probable it's simply discharged due to the flat battery I'm sure @Britprius will be along shortly. https://www.engine-codes.com/c1377_toyota.html Toyota DTC C1377 Question
  9. The IS 500 (not IS-F) https://www.thedrive.com/news/33539/2021-lexus-is-500-will-get-lexus-last-naturally-aspirated-v8-report
  10. If you change the profile without changing the diameter you could run into trouble with the speedometer and odometer accuracy. Not to mention ones insurer if using tyre sizes not specified in the handbook.
  11. Can you open any of the doors and get into the load space? If so the handbook shows how to open the tailgate from inside
  12. It wouldn't be the first time we've had to call the Police because a customer has left a dog in their car. Even after store announcements, no one shows up, so the constable will smash a window to release the poor creature. We tried calling the AA/RAC but they take too long to arrive. We were advised that should a member of the public or store staff break the window it could be construed as criminal damage. The Police are very prompt..
  13. This is Lexus doc on battery maintenance during storage Maintainace of hybrid battery.pdf
  14. Just to clarify the e-cvt transmission in the RX (and all Lexus models) is not belt driven but it does use sun, planet and ring gears.
  15. Does the OP want the hybrid or full -fat V8? I assumed the latter going by the thread title..
  16. It looks very similar to that outlined in an email from my dealership (Swindon)
  17. Insurance companies can interpret things differently, certainly. They also share information and I'd imagine if one were to 'refuse' cover others would be aware? It would raise questions as to why and perhaps as to why the 'refusal' wasn't declared? I think clarification from the company should be sought as to the actual meaning of their action
  18. From GoCompare website Refuse insurance If you’ve been refused insurance, it means you’ve either had a claim rejected, or your insurer has refused to offer you a renewal quote. Your insurer might refuse to renew your policy, either because its criteria has changed or they’re no longer able to offer you cover. But you could also be refused insurance, or refused a renewal because of non-disclosure, leading to your insurance being voided or cancelled. If you’ve ever had insurance refused you have to declare it when you take out new insurance. https://www.gocompare.com/car-insurance/guide/declarations-and-non-disclosures/ But a slightly different slant from MSE website.. I tried to get M&S home insurance and was turned down. The operator said that a note had come on her screen to make sure customer understands that this is not a refusal to insure but a decline to quote. I didn't really understand the difference at the time, but comments on this thread explain it. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1312865/what-does-refused-insurance-actually-mean
  19. Very enterprising, had you thought of new leather from a UK based upholsterer? I had a custom designed nappa leather interior done on my C class for just over £2k, a single seat base shouldn't be expensive? Nice Nathan cupboard/wall unit I spy in the first image?
  20. Enjoying the sunshine and listening to some blues guitar by Walter Trout
