  1. It's always nice to feel one has 'got one over' on the other guy but in all probability the other driver just wasn't trying/paying attention or simply let you go. I remember when driving my CLS55, which could pretty much take anything from the lights (Audi TTs excepted) but often when challenged in the traffic light get-away I would simply keep up rather than blast away. I'm sure there are many youngsters out there thinking "I took that AMG"
  2. Just use the solution recommended in the owner's handbook, or the leather cleaning kit Lexus supply. It's not difficult...
  3. When I enquired about non-brochure combinations on my two RCs I was met each time with the same, very polite but firm, No....
  4. What is your country? Your location is showing London. Dealerships in the countries I mentioned will have stock of used cars.
  5. https://scitechdaily.com/proteus-technology-new-material-is-strong-light-and-non-cuttable/ https://newatlas.com/materials/proteus-non-cuttable-bike-lock-armor/
  6. First thought would be the steering lock engages? Even if this didn't happen power assistance would also stop. Transmission wise nothing drastic, except the car will slow very quickly.
  7. Find the under-bonnet fuse box and follow the loom back to the firewall. Quite often the loom grommet will be in the inner wing to bulkhead join.
  8. Broken wire in the boot hinge area? Instruction from the door/fob controllers not getting through but local instruction from metal key is ok?
  9. A few years ago? That was 1998... What was the outcome? Floor mat intrusion seems to have been discounted in the OP's case
  10. Do you have any radio telescopes, telecommunication stations, government listening stations nearby?
  11. Yes, normal. The engine starts to provide cabin warmth and to bring the engine/transmission/CATs up to operating temp. Not sure on your particular model but on my RC I can force the car to run on EV by pressing the EV button before the ICE fires up.
  12. Would a Toyota service centre be any cheaper? Obviously they would have experience with the hybrid system
  13. Have you, or the previous owner, switched the function off? On my car one can enable and disable the auto function reverting to simple intermittent operation. Should be detailed in your handbook, if this pertains to your model.
  14. Japanese people generally take huge pride in anything they do. I remember marvelling at condition of a refuse collection vehicle that stopped next to us as we walked in Kyoto. It was spotless, polished and burnished. Even the bin lifting mechanism was very clean. The worker's overalls were clean and pressed. The Japanese have a very special attitude to life, people and their environment. Self respect and the respect of others, something we, in the west, could learn a lot from.
  15. Is it needed on a Lexus?? Choose the cheapest or out the money aside, just in case..
  16. Have you actually tried the new battery in the fob and checked if the car still complains?
  17. Were you moving whilst attempting to view?
  18. Must be possible to route the charger wires or main lead up from under the car? Bonnet and boot seals tend to be quite compliant I managed to easily close the boot on my CLS with the mains lead trailing out.
  19. Come the colder weather no one will want to be sitting in a quickly cooling car, hardly able to see out the misting up windows, the barely big enough screen obscured by the driving rain.....
  20. I'm guessing the plastic panel is a skin over the metal boot lid, to make it easier (cheaper) to accommodate the various regional designs of registration plate?
  21. What a shame, sorry to read this but hopefully a simple repair. Just hope there's nothing untoward lurking behind the visible damage to the bumper, crumple boxes etc.. I also assumed the boot would be metal, interesting.. Please keep us updated how things work out.
