    Can one not use the sport setting on the transmission and manually select a lower/lowest gear in preparation for the swift manoeuvre? It's what I do if "making progress" in traffic, for the quick overtake.

    Just keep in mind that modifying the emission control systems in any way technically renders the car illegal on UK roads, with knock on consequences for ones insurance should the unfortunate happen and the insurance company takes a closer interest in the car.

    I had my CLS55 permanently on charge with the CTEK living in the boot and the mains cable trailing out through the boot seal. To connect to the mains I had a 20m extension cable fitted with a weatherproof 13amp socket, the CTEK plugged in and the socket dangled just off the ground behind the car. All through the foulest of weathers, no issues at all, just a fully charged battery and a happy car.

    Just fired up Lexus-tech.eu and reading through the Air Con System description, there is a secondary, electrically driven, water pump to supply the heater radiator with engine coolant to prevent a decrease in the effectiveness of the heater when the engine shuts down.
