    Why do you think you would be 'ripped off'? To be 'ripped off' one would need to be told one thing and then it turns out to be something different. Lexus/Toyota have quoted their price for doing the repair, I'm sure they would honour that price. Perhaps you could find someone to do the works more cheaply if you approached an independent a/c specialist?

    Clearly but the patch may be covering an area of the dash top that may create reflections on the windscreen that would obscure the HUD display

    Mine aren't, unless I have turned on the auto wipers or the rear fog lamp. Then small indicators light up but they don't illuminate as to show the different functions.
