  1. It appears to be all new cars sold, not new models.. From the Autotrader article "The European Commission has reached a provisional agreement that all new vehicles sold in Europe will be fitted with a speed limiter as a legal requirement from 6 July 2022" "The 2019/2044 regulation also mandates all new cars that have already launched be fitted with an Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) by 7 July 2024" More here https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/news/motoring-news/mandatory-speed-limiters/ and here "The new systems will be mandatory for all new models given 'type approval'. All models in the market before that date will have to be updated by 7th July 2024." https://commercialvehiclecontracts.co.uk/news/road-laws/mandatory-speed-limiters-on-all-cars-from-2022
  2. I'm currently driving an NX as a courtesy car and it has these little additions to the rear arches. The wheels/tyres fitted are completely within the main arch of the car and the fin doesn't actually stick out any further than to top edge of the arch.
  3. Always used to have a damp synthetic chamois in the glove box. Halfords used to sell them in a water proof pouch. I now use a micro-fibre and Meg's glass cleaner and Instead of a micro-fibre cloth I finish with paper towel. Perfect results each time and no smelly chammy!
  4. The Volvo might have had a 'hard' limiter, similar to one on the Mercedes. One could set a max speed via the cluster menu, that could not be overridden. The Mercedes also had a 'soft' limiter, more easily set via a column stalk, that could be overridden by a firm push on the throttle. The up-coming mandatory limiters on new cars will be set via gps/camera to the local speed limit but can be overridden by the throttle or disabled altogether. I imagine if disabled it would re-enable at each IGN cycle, similar to many stop/start eco systems.
  5. Most definitely the case. As is their constant reiteration that these things are only an aid to driving. The driver must not rely on them
  6. Does it mention anything in the handbook? In my RC300h handbook it does say "On steep hills Vehicle speed may exceed the set speed when driving down a steep hill. "
  7. It's my understanding no Lexus has a speed limiter (it's one thing I miss from my Mercedes days)
  8. Thankfully none of this has any relevance to my situation.
  9. I guess they have to wait for Japan to wake up? So perhaps first thing in the morning. Trouble is our start of the day is the end of theirs (assuming normal office hours) so not sure if they have 'live' communication or just emails Yes, only 2yrs old and 11k miles puts it squarely into Lexus' corner. I'm not inconvenienced as I have a courtesy car but I'm really puzzled as to how difficult it is to diagnose! Swapping units would be obviously to way but apparently that's not possible
  10. Update.. Still none the wiser. Lexus rang to say they have performed a complete software update on the car as suggested by Lexus Tech. No change. Lexus Tech have now requested meter readings from various wiring looms, which my dealership have provided and they await a response. I asked, trying to understand the problem, why they couldn't test the sat nav module independently of the car. Not possible apparently. They also said they cannot swap out the unit and try another as they are coded to the car and cannot be recoded. Beggars belief one cannot test these things on the bench. The mystery continues....
  11. Been using this for years on all the house and car windows, great product and very economical in bulk. https://www.meguiars.co.uk/shop/glass-cleaner-concentrate-3-78ltrs
  12. If you read the MoT handbook the fail is not in the beam pattern but the type approval of the headlamp unit and the light source not being in agreement.
  13. An interesting discussion on the merits of headlamp upgrades, reflector v projector. Curiously they recommend LEDs for reflector lamps and HiDs for projector type It's an American company/website so no relevance to UK regulation, road legality or insurance https://www.xenonpro.com/difference-between-projector-reflector-headlights
