  1. It's interesting in that both my RC models the engine will fire up after an overnight stop within 10secs of Ready mode (unless I invoke EV mode) but the car is moving under electric power. The engine is running but isn't under load. I can watch the battery bars reducing and on reaching 2 bars the engine note changes and I feel a slight sure in drive (I have a steep uphill from my house). I'm sure the ICE fires up to warm itself and the fluids, even in mid summer when there is no heat required for the cabin, just to be ready for when the traction battery needs a recharge (which obviously is quite soon). I guess it's all to reduce wear (not to load the engine until warm) and improve efficiency
  2. The engine will also run to maintain the designed fluid operating temps, even if the climate control is off the engine needs to keep itself warm to operate efficiently
  3. Any warning lamps or messages in the dash when this happens?
  4. No significantly. One would need to go for winter or all season tyres
  5. I would to but my previous insurer stated any change from that supplied at the time of purchase (left the factory) is a modification. I did change to another size wheel and tyre, upped from 17" to the 18" optional shown in the handbook and they noted it on my policy but didn't change my premium, at the time..... I think the prudent action is to enquire of one's insurer before making any changes. Many don't penalise, many do!
  6. It's common in the colder weather for wide profile summer tyres to 'crab' 'clunk' or 'snatch' as the sidewall compound stiffens in the lower temps. My RC does it turning out of my driveway, first time it happened I thought I'd run over a brick!
  7. Has this only started since the weather turned colder?
  8. If one changes the size of tyre from that supplied from the factory this is deemed a modification. The onus is on the person applying for insurance to disclose the relevant information, not the insurer to ask the specific questions
  9. Regarding tyre noise, I'm hoping the testing is done on a 'standardised' road surface. We've just had some resurfacing done round here and the new tarmac is astonishingly quiet compared to the adjacent surface!
  10. Could it be the safety e-call system? https://www.check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk/recall-type/vehicle/make/TOYOTA/model/LEXUS UX300e/year/2021/recalls
  11. Put your vehicle details in here and see if there's any more info? https://forms.toyota.co.uk/recall-checker?lexus=true
  12. I suspect a lot of what you observed is to do with physics, warm air rises, cool air falls? In really warm weather, ice cold air come from the face level vents to fall and cool the cabin, it's effective as passengers feel this cold air. This operation though is detrimental to the operation of the seat ventilators, which draw air from the footwells, which are still relatively warm. To improve this function one would cancel Auto operation and select footwell vents. Cools one seat much more quickly but leaves one's face and upper body feeling warm. In really cold weather warm air is pumped out from the footwell vents to rise and warm the car, slowly effective but leaves passengers experiencing the relatively cold air on exposed faces. I find the climate control in my RC the most effective I've experienced in any car I've owned. I never leave the car idling to warm up preferring to drive away once I've scrapped clear the windows, only a minute at most. as noted by @Thackeray above air exits the screen vents immediately on starting and forcing screen demist will slowly clear any fogging on the inside of the screen, usually clear by the time to drive away. Really impressive is the rear screen demister, it usually clears the rear screen very quickly, only 3-4 minutes into the drive. After only 5 minutes driving warm air is filling the cabin (I switch the screen demist off as soon as it's cleared) and the fans ramp up. Within 8 minutes the fans are slowing down to normal background speed and the cabin feels comfortable (I set the cabin temperature to 20c). The steering wheel heater, is switched off fairly quickly, I don't like a sweaty wheel and the seat heater is on auto, so slowly ramps down as cabin temp increases. All-in-all very effective and I suspect, in no small way attributable to the neural network climate control, which after reading the Lexus.eu tech doc appears very comprehensive and flexible in it's interpretation of signals from various sensors, ambient, coolant, solar and the desired temperatue. I think the only omission is recognition of open windows, although it does appear to know when the sunroof is open. Very clever these Japanese!
  13. From the VLAND website, the headlamps don't have the E-mark approval, so I'd guess they would not pass the MoT ?
  14. I think SAGA are very adverse to anything that is not standard. That said I think the term "rip-off" is rather strong as you have not been cheated of defrauded.
  15. I honestly cannot recall how long it took my two cars to come from Japan but if you can get the dealership to tell you which ship it's on you can follow it's journey by putting the name into this website. I followed mine all the way, getting quite impatient as it docked at numerous ports along the way! https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:79.2/centery:7.2/zoom:7
  16. I had the same on my 2016 RC.
  17. Did you have the system set to suggest alternatives routes when it receives info on hold ups?? Mine will do this quite frequently.
  18. Do you have the a/c set to On? With this working the cabin air will be dehumidified. Only caveat is that at ambient temps approaching freezing the a/c will not operate, for fear of the condenser freezing. IIRC the cut-off temp is 5c
  19. Quite a bit first thing on a cold frosty morning. Only shows for max 10sec. I'm guessing it's the screen mounted camera misting up
