  1. Originally luxury cars such as Roll Royce, Mercedes etc would have had cloth seats in velvet or soft wool for the passengers. Only the driver/chauffeur would sit on leather!
  2. Well said Renato, very much echoes my own experience in moving from the pre-facelift to the facelifted versions.
  3. In the owner's handbook (for my RC) it does mention a 'self restoring' top coat? How does this change how one would prepare and care for the paintwork? ■Self-restoring coat The vehicle body has a self-restoring coating that is resistant to small surface scratches caused in a car wash etc. ●The coating lasts for 5 to 8 years from when the vehicle is delivered from the plant. ●The restoration time differs depending on the depth of the scratch and outside temperature. The restoration time may become shorter when the coating is warmed by applying warm water. ●Deep scratches caused by keys, coins, etc. cannot be restored. ●Do not use wax that contains abrasives
  4. You may think it pathetic but it may also point others to a solution, so do tell. Also would be good to know what the dealers have tried in the past?
  5. If I'm being completely honest I think it's simply made up to increase revenue and when challenged to define how premiums are calculated they come up with totally nebulous criteria and always include that 'fudge-factor' - personal circumstances
  6. It would cost far more to write-off a newer car. It's all to do with loss mitigation and that's the insurer's loss not the insured's loss.
  7. Curious as the newer the car the more expensive they tend to be to repair? Just a minor bump and it's well into the thousands. Heaven forbid if an airbag goes off, or the pop-up bonnet activates! Older cars have cheaper parts, or their value makes it a write-off at market value. By far the biggest influence on premium is the postcode and driver profile
