Trouble free 2019 ES300h F Sport with Takumi Pack and Apple Car Play

So New Car Day arrived, pics below. Differences between MY19 and MY21: Brightwork on window buttons all round Bottle holder has push written on it Volume knob now silver instead of black - seems to work smoother than the MY19 Pano Camera added - neat toy, put it on auto and when in traffic it auto pops up - move along, it disappears Apple Car Play as standard - works smoother than the upgrade I had in the MY19 Wireless charger turned by 90 degrees - a little less storage in the centre, but the charger is easier to place your phone on and remove Engine seems to run smoother and quieter than the MY19 Graphite Black paint seems to pop a lot more than I remember my 69 plate doing - not sure if they’ve changed the make up of the paint Reader cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Monitor added - BSM indicators are really bright which is good. All in all worth the upgrade. 934A9E19-B377-492F-80F8-87F4B68C7920.MOV BEEA8B36-93F5-4E6B-AD4A-BA5A12EB23A7.MOV -
So, on the 69 plate the final payment was £15,615, on the new agreement for the 21 plate the final payment is £15,142. Not too much in it, however the monthly payment has also dropped by £20 per month also. Delivery date is currently 4th May 21.

I’m awaiting finalized paperwork at the moment, will update further when I have the final figures.

The plan for the current car was to do the PCP then but the car with the final payment. The current lease excluding 1 service has cost 88p per mile of which I claim back 22p per mile for mileage at work. Take into account the car allowance for work I get and insurance, the cost per mile reduces to 0.09 p per mile so I really cannot complain. This doesn’t include the first VED I paid which, yes, clobbered by HM Gov went up to 450 for a year - this stays for the 1st 6 years of the life of the car. So including the 450 tax disc it still only equates to 12/13p per mile out of pocket. The existing car was PX’d on paper as part of the deal for £28.5k with 10k miles on it so if this was HP I’d be a tad miffed at the depreciation. Given this is essentially a rental unless I buy out the ballon payment at the end of the lease it is relatively cheap motoring. Currently awaiting finals on finance for signing with a due delivery date at the end of this month. I tend to agree with you on the finance deals at present, once furlough ends and a percentage of people find the are out of work, these deals will get better Q2/3 21 and I reckon they will then flatten out

I decided to take the plunge today. My existing 2019 ES is on a PCP, PCP gets cleared to start a new PCP on the new MY21 ES F Sport with Takumi pack. I had planned to by the existing one at the end of the lease however the main reason for change is the APR% dropped, no deposit needed, no drop in annual mileage and no additional monthly fee. Service place also for the next 2 services and my dash cam transferred for no cost also. All of this came about as I considered putting the private plate on my existing car, plus it needs a wash! New car is due in at the end of the month, same colour and interior as I already have, with delivery mile only so also zeros the clock on the 10k on mine. I also now won’t want to put the private plate on for a while on a new 21 plate. Pics to follow when it lands as I will be able to update between the MY19 and 21 not just in terms of changes but also with running costs.

So, opinion needed.... I received a phone call a few weeks ago from a Lexus Dealer offering to swap out my ES for a new one for no deposit or extra payment. Naturally I ignored it with mine being an ES300h F Sport with Takumi pack with Apple Car Play and a Dash Cam fitted. I didn’t see the point as mine is a September 2019 registered car which has only just turned 10k miles. Today I receive an email from the same dealer offering the same offer but with a bit more detail: Highlights of deal include: No deposit from you compared to the £xx you put in last time. New lower APR now 3.9%, you are currently paying 5.9% Price includes the Tyre and Gap insurance. New additions to the F-sport Takumi features including blind sport and bigger nav screen. Brand new Apple car play and Android auto capability. £1 extra per month if this was you, with the extra gained items being 2019 / 2021 model year changes, the 2% lower APR on the finance and you end up with a new model, what would you do? Yes it resets the payments I have made since 2019, and I have a choice of colours (currently mine is Graphite Black) and I also have the wife saying do what you need to.... Thoughts??

On a 68 plate - no car play. I have a 69September plate with ML sounds, I was able to get a car play upgrade for £80.00. There is no self park option on the ES. Doubtful you’ll get a discount on a used Lexus from a dealer. Try and get a 69 plate onwards if budget allows and you may have a chance to have Apple car play - I went for the F Sport with Takumi pack as I didn’t like the standard grille, the small display screen and base sound system - I wanted the larger screen and Mark Levinson sounds having come from a 2016 IS300h Advance and couldn’t afford a Takumi at the time. If I had another one of these I would go for the same spec again.

This is definitely a base model. No triple beams, no memory seats, no Mark Levinson. Although the base model has the same running gear across all models unless you are in the US. It’s worth looking at a higher spec model before buying

Having followed this thread for a while now, I asked when mine went in for the upgrade if they had had many in that had tried their own upgrades which had failed. The answer I got from the Service Manager was that they had one in on the same day mine was in, failed, needed a new unit which due to the self upgrade was not covered by warranty. Cost for the new unit installed and upgraded - £3,500 ex VAT

For all the little tweaks they have done for the MY21 the only one I like is the window switches. I prefer my MY19. Links like they’ve just turned around the wireless charger by 90 degrees and the Vol/Tune knob colour change looks cheap in my opinion.
-
Finally had the Apple Car Play upgrade on my ES. Pics are before, after and Google maps with live traffic. Works a lot smoother than the Lexus standard nav, however have yet to have a play.

At long last, Lexus Reading have started the upgrade to the 2019 onwards ES300h for Apple Car Play from Wednesday 14th October 2020. The upgrade is compatible with 2019 models with ML sounds, costs £80.00 and takes about half a day. All booked in for 11th November for me.
-
I’ve tried it in park, in drive, seat belt on, seat belt off, ignition at accessory and ignition on - none worked, so gave up and spent the next half hour playing with Tidal, Master Tracks and the ML sounds

I cancelled all entries as the manual says if more than 1 key is present, it won’t store into memory correctly. I have entered the car with just the card key and set position 1 and position 2 however the seat does not move in any memory position but the steering wheel does move. May have to take it back to Lexus as I am not sure if it’s something they change a setting on.
-
So, very impressed with the ES300h, I’ve had mine since mid September, however on the memory seat function, the tilt and slide steering wheel positions are held in memory, but the seat itself is not retained in the memory. The smart entry and exit works fine, but when setting seat positions and pressing set and 1, 2 or 3 the seat isn’t held in memory. Has anyone else had this issue? I hadn’t read the book until today and thought it was something to do with having both a card key and car key on me at the same time, having left one of the keys indoors, this hadn’t resolved the issue either. A minor niggle so far, but something I’d rather have a bash at sorting before going back to Lexus as I don’t know if I am missing something obvious.
