  1. There are very few global companies that make batteries anyway. It is a bog standard part. Choose one from a well established maker. It is that simple.
  2. It is a 12volt battery. It 'tells' the big battery to awake and start up. I have had a Prius in the same mode. A 5 year Bosch battery was top drawer and did the job perfectly. My LS430 is on a Yuasa 5 year guarantee battery from Halfords (best price at the time). Buy the best battery for the price. Lexus do not make batteries...... they buy them in. A Lexus battery is another brand...... made to look like a Lexus posh battery.
  3. I have to say, on 'tricky electrical issues' an real auto electrician is the best course. A good auto electrician with all his testing gear will have it found and fixed in one hour tops. They just do auto electrics. That is their stock in trade. A mobile guy is OK, but find a real auto electrician shop. Once had a tricky headlight. In 25 minutes it was fixed. VW would have replaced the whole headlight unit by a 'fitter' at £150+++. Merely replacing parts is very expensive. A good electrician will find it in 30 minutes.
  4. As a thought, maybe disconnect the battery for 2 hours, reconnect and see if it improves. Unlikely, but cheap and worth a try.
  5. I am on Pagid at the moment and they are fine with good feel and bite. They seem to last well too, although most of my motoring is motorway/dual carriage way cruising.
  6. My old Mercedes had Textar (3 star Mercedes star stamped on the backplate). Are Textar so good now?
  7. Lexus Direct are doing front and rear disc/pad sets all in for £384. 19p. Mine will need doing soonish. Is there anything better for the money. Always been happy with Pagid, but are Brembo better? I have followed the debate here with genuine Lexus not always being everyone's favourite. What to do?
  8. The oil filter = Toyota part number 90915-YZZJ4 Oil drain plug Toyota blue washer, = part number T900080-43037 New Toyota air filter = Toyota part number: 17801-50030 A Mann oil filter W712/83 which fits a 3 litre Camry also is a perfect fit, and of equal top quality.
  9. Funny enough when I started out (45+ years ago) Crossland were top filters, like Fram, but it all went down hill. I have brought genuine Toyota/Denso stuff, and it is made in Japan, France, and China. Quality always top quality. On oil fliters, Bosch, Mann, Hengst, and Toyota, (often made in China) are are all OK.
  10. Euro Car Parts have 2002, 430 Crossland air filter at £2.19p! I always fit a Lexus one as the quality is a different league, but, at this price you could fit one every 6 months. https://www.eurocarparts.com/air-filter
  11. There is only one question to ask.....are they elegant. I think not.
  12. My mats were covered in grease from a petrol station. Put in the bath. I used Swarfega on the black grease, then wet, and use Vanish carpet cleaner and a nail brush, from the £1 shop. https://www.poundland.co.uk/70093-vanish-hand-shampoo-clean-and-carpet-cleaner-450ml/ Then rinse off under the tap. Drain for 10 mins then put on the washing line facing the sun. One day later perfect carpets, that smell brilliant.
  13. How easy are they to replace. I have a 'temperamental' one on the front bumper. Can you get at them from behind easily?
  14. Look at the energy and pollution in making a new car. It's huge.
  15. This all sounds rather crazy....however, second-hand car prices are up by 30-40%. It makes sense to spend a bit and keep a good car going. I have just spent about £1,000 on my LS 430 and if I get 3-4 more years out of it, it looks pretty cheap in this crazy world. Two years ago £4-5,000 would buy you a good solid family car. Go on Autotrader now, and see where that gets you. Plus, keeping older cars going is now very green.
  16. Rather elegant. Always thought these cars rather understated. An old SAAB add once said.....SAAB for those who rely on their own good judgement, not that of others. Can anyone argue with that. If you do, just look at a Nissan Juke.
  17. UPDATE In the end I went for Bosch Super Plus Universal Wiper https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/bosch-super-plus-universal-wiper-blade-with-spoiler-sp24s-485772060 Total fitting time 4 minutes. One fitting adaptor..... slide in dead easy. Bosch are OK, but, as ever, the Denso ones had real quality about them.
  18. I must say this is the first time I have changed them in 6 years. I have a theory that they hide below the bonnet line and the sun, so deteriorate less than other cars.
  19. That is very useful, many thanks. I am a bit worried that I may have to cut an adaptor to fit. These are the most expensive blades so should just fit easily. Every other one in the last 50 years just 'slides on' given the U shaped wiper arm. I think I will go with bog standard Bosch ones tomorrow as they seem to be able to 'slide in'.
  20. Euro Car Parts refunded the Denso ones and I bought Bosch AeroTwin blades. They have 4 adaptors and I can't get any to fit? None seem to take a U shaped wiper arm. All seem to be fit fit straight ones. What adaptor did you use. Never had this problem in 50 years of motoring. Maybe the cheaper regular Bosch ones will work?
  21. Very helpful I did it that way but no help. That is how ordinary cars are done. The Densos do not have a tab underneath, they have a locking clip on top. The problem is the drivers arm will not lift up enough. I tried to take the arm off the spline but is is fixed solid. By the way always always have a thick bathroom towel doubled over from the start. Once, I let go of an arm and it hit the screen, not that hard. but very concentrated. The enegy caused it to crack, and a 3 foot running crack occurred!
  22. LS 430 2002. Car failed its MOT on wiper blades. They seemed OK to me with no streaks but I had some Michelin ones from ALDI. Popped them on and all OK, except they are cheap and noisy. Got some Densos and the quality difference is amazing. Problem is, no matter what I do, I can't fit them. They will not go on, even with either adaptor. Never had this problem before. Gas anyone any ides. Is there a special technic as the wiper arms only lift up a tad. Might try Bosch or is there a better make for fitting?
  23. The funny thing is the rear one was very difficult. 2.5 hours. We did not know it had 'massage seats' they said. I suspect lots and lots had to come out.
  24. My old Mercedes had Textar pads on it with a Mercedes star on the metal back. No manufacturer makes pads, they are all supplied. Textar usually are a top brand. I have Pagid on my 430. Very good and quiet. Last a long time too. I am planning a disc/pad renewal all round soon. Might go to Lexus Swindon who I have used before. Always in Toyota boxes. Or Pagid. Both are fine. Pagid naturally a bit cheaper. Actually, they are all part of the TMD Friction group. Now Japanese owned. So is Mintex, and Don. https://tmdfriction.com/about/
