    The rack was a pain. Lexus Bristol just wouldn’t recognise there was an issue. Took over 5 trips to the dealer. Then there was the clicking seat - to replace Lexus quoted £3500. Lexus warranty REFUSED to help 😮 I’d say that a large number of the miles I put on the car in the 18 months I had it were down to trips to and from the dealers 😢 Dont get me wrong, in comparison to other performance cars, the reliability was amazing 😀 She is now a tip top car and whoever gets her (in my eyes) will be buying one of the best Fs out there. Shame nobody on here has shown any interest 😢

    Yes Shahpor is correct - only 47k on the clock. Seat was (still is) immaculate. Lexus warranty argued that seats fail from wear and tear. This view was confirmed by several dealers, one I will quote having said “Yes, Lexus warranty are funny about paying out for seats”. I had to make two claims to Lexus warranty. One claim very successful, the other proved how hard nose warranty companies can be. I presume that the first claim for a new steering rack was immediately sorted as there is a dangerous design fault with the ISF steering rack, Lexus were happy to pay out. A click seat - different matter.

    I had to rob a replacement out of my mate's IS-F when he wasn't looking :)

    Yes, not a great sign. I would like to think most of us are on top of tyre wear on a 400+ bhp car. Only excuse I guess would be the the IS-F is a devil for wearing the inside edges on the front tyres.

    Agree. Don't talk to me about seats however. It is well known that Lexus warranty won't pay out for seat issues.

    Yes, fair point. Interestingly, how many Lexus main dealers have had experience working on an IS-F engine or gearbox?

    You just don't know if a car is going to wrong. I've seen several IS-Fs that have had a hard life. Mine on the other hand had perfect service history and not a mark on it. I was still unlucky. £900 for two years warranty is a no brainer on any car. I've slapped 3 years warranty on my RC-F and it only has 4,500 miles on the clock!

    Fair point Ratty { @Big Rat), but on the BMW's side, at least there are plenty of spares and loads of indies to do the work. How many garages would want to work on an IS-F engine or gearbox.....?

    That's performance cars for you. Don't get me wrong, on a reliability basis I'd pick an IS-F over any of its competitors. However, anyone thinking of getting into ownership has to remember that the IS-F (like many cars) was a very expensive car to buy from new, so if something does go wrong........

    Snowing outside, sat in front of the fire, I'm reading some other threads about IS-F ownership. I thought it might be helpful to post a list detailing what it really costs to run an IS-F. So, excluding brakes, tyres and fuel, feel free to share your costs in the following format - Length of ownership: Approx 18 months Repairs outside of warranty: New drivers seat due to clicking - £75 (second hand) Repairs covered by warranty: New steering rack - £3500 Total cost - £3575 Total cost to me - £75

    Sounds to me that you are teetering on purchase. Dangerous place to be 😀 You live once and you seem to had an obvious interest in F’s for a while
