What 3 things made you go for an IS F?
V8
Reliability (& warranty)
Low depreciation
What 3 things would you change about the IS F?
More steering feel.
Dash - everything left of the steering wheel
Exhaust - more noise at low speed
What 3 cars would be on your list if you sold your IS F tomorrow?
Tough.....
None - really not into cars at the moment. Only had the IS-F 8 months, so I'm still bored with looking at Autotrader etc.
I'll add one thing that I didn't expect from ownership of an IS-F. I love being part of a small ownership circle. Meeting other IS-F owners has been brilliant. Kemble crew - I'm not blowing any more smoke up ya bums :)
I was photographing a wedding back in the Summer. The groom had a Porsche Cayman. I thought it was a nice car, and noted that it was a GT4. Now at that point I had no idea that the GT4 was such a desirable car.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that although I am a petrol head and x Porsche owner, I didn't have good enough knowledge to know what a GT4 was. I'm guessing more people know what a GT4 is than an IS-F.
Funny thing is that the groom asked me what I drove. I said "I drive the Lexus equivalent to an AMG 63 / BMW M3". His reply was "A Lexus IS-F?". Proper petrol head.
GT4
Only the Japanese could design a gearbox which has a dedicated thread on 'How the **** does this thing work?' :)
Tomorrow I'll start a thread on 'How to use the satnav'. Once that's sorted, a thread on 'How to get the voice activation to work'
I must admit that the newer Lexus cars I have driven don't seem to suffer from quite so many 'Japanesey' 'features'.
Totally agree. If you could limit it to fifth until you tell it otherwise, that would be great. Also, if it is only enabled for 60 seconds, it seems pointless.
I'm still of the opinion that the Lexus auto box is over complicated.
Thanks Stuart.
With regards to the kick down time be reduced, are you thinking along the lines that if the temp max gear is 5th, in a kick down operation where 2nd is required there are less changes than if the gearbox was in 8th?
I'm off for a blat around Wales on Thursday with my mate who will be brining his Lotus thingy along. It is white and has a V6 Toyota engine in the back. Can't give any more details than that - sorry.
That's it, pick on the easy target :)
I think the banter works better once you've met face to face. Meets like the two Kemble meets are worth their weight in gold!
