Fair enough, I just hoped someone had been successful before I entered the lions cage. I’m just a weak old pensioner wishing I had some ammunition to load into my potato gun. 🤪

I’ve been reading through the items covered by the Relax warranty and notice that “sensors” ARE covered. One of my front parking sensors is faulty and I can’t see why this would not be covered under Relax. Has anybody had one or more of these replaced under Relax and, if not, what argument could Lexus use to exclude these items from the warranty.

I have a fsport 2015 with front parking sensors. One sensor (front, in the grill) is faulty. Is there any easy way to access it to replace it without removing the whole bumper?

I have, up until this year, had excellent service from Lexus Hedge End. Now, my MOT is due at the beginning of September and my service is due at the same time. They can’t provide a loan car when my MOT is due because they have stopped pick up and return and this meant a heavy requirement for loan vehicles so none are available when I need it. Also, the earliest they can provide a loan car on the day of the service is 7th September, a week after the MOT is due! So, now I have to find somewhere else for the MOT. Okay, I should have booked all of this at least a month before but, if they still had the pick up and return service none of this would be a problem. I live 20+ miles from Hedge End and there is no suitable public transport I could use, hence, my problem. I notice from earlier posts that pick up and return still applies with some Lexus dealers. Is it only Hedge End that has removed this facility? Considering the cost of service and the previous exemplary service from Hedge End, I am disappointed. The key reasons I bought a Lexus were reliability and customer service. I hope one of these criteria still exists. However, I am now, seriously, thinking about alternative manufacturers for my replacement vehicle.

IIIogen,
thanks for the response. Having the other 12V in parallel makes a lot of sense.

Paul,
The most effective way of avoiding any risk of power spike when changing your battery is to ensure that there is an alternative 12v supply connected to the car during the changeover.
One can either have a spare battery connected by (say) jump start leads to your existing battery leads BEFORE you disconnect them, and leave them on until you've installed and connected the new battery (so in effect - your car isn't aware that the supply is changing), OR, I have a lithium jump starter (Noco) that I plug into my OBD port (during the replacement process) that maintains the 12v supply.
Hope this helps

Question: 1) If I have Lexus change my 12V Battery and the amplifier subsequently fails, who pays for repair/ replacement?
2) Is there a preferred method to changing the Battery that ensures no spikes?
I have had many non-hybrid cars and changed many “normal” 12V batteries on them without any problems. What is so special about this problem. My current car is the is300h fsport, 65 plate, (bought in 2016) and has the original Battery so I am expecting (one day) to have to change the Battery, hence my questions. By the way, I love this car and can’t imagine what I would replace it with.
Thanks for any useful responses.

Re: Recall.
Just had my 2015 is300h done at Hedge End. Excellent service (as usual). Car returned within 2 hrs with additional 1/2 tank of fuel added (at no cost). The courtesy car was a UX250h f sport which was “ok”, with all the added electronic aids that my car does not have. However, I was still very happy to have own car back. Compared to the UX the ride is better in the IS, the visibility is better, the space is better and the steering feel is much better (maybe because I am use to rear wheel drive vs front wheel drive?). In conclusion, 1) very happy with the IS and 2) very happy with Hedge End service.
Sorry for all the waffle!- 4

I’m in the same boat. Apart from reading about this recall, I haven’t heard anything fro Lexus. My dealer is Lexus Hedge End who have usually provided excellent service, so far. I’ll give it until March and then give them a call.

65 plate fsport and I get anywhere between 38 and 55 depending on “in a hurry” or “relaxed” drive. Very happy with the overall fuel consumption.

I have had my 2015 f-sport since 2016 and have tried to find an argument to change to a different car. I considered the obvious brands that I have previously had. They were 3 BMWs (328i, 320d touring, 316 compact), 2 Mercedes (C250d, C200) and a VW GTD all as company cars and while each had their merits, none met my overall criteria for comfort, speed, good fuel economy and reliability. The Is300h is comfortable (even in f-sport), has enough speed (especially at the lights in sport mode easily getting ahead of other cars up to legal speed limit), averaging +40 mpg in everyday use and apart from seized callipers (common issue as far as I can tell) has been fault free in 5 years. The diesel BMWs all had to have engine parts replaced. The Mercedes were comfortable but gave no pleasure when driven. The VW interior was disintegrating after 3 years! So, Lexus vs the rest. No contest. It looks like the Lexus IS staying with me for a few more years. I just wish they had carried on with the IS. Oh, and mine is only £10 per year road tax, yippee.
Enough said.

I found holding the fuel nozzle upside down in the tank allows free flow of fuel into the car.

Just watched a YouTube video by James May (Drivetribe)with his Tesla model S 12v Battery going flat and he couldn’t get into the car even with the EV Battery fully charged.
It made me laugh that he had to dismantle half of the frunk just to access it. At least I can access mine in the boot. I love my Lexus.

I had this happen to me once when it was a very windy night and it was only in the morning I noticed my boot was unlocked and the wind was lifting it slight with, consequently, the alarm kept going off. I’m sure this might be a red herring but, check your boot!

I bought my is300h f sport in 2016 from Lexus Hedge End As a retirement present to me and have had nothing but excellent service from them when I have had my car serviced, annually. I had various company cars from BMW, Mercedes and VW all maintained at the local dealers but none were a patch on the attentiveness and politeness of Hedge End. I can only comment on my own experiences and, from my viewpoint, this particular dealer is what I would expect from a Lexus dealer.
P.S. They didn’t pay me to say the above.

I have a 65 plate f sport with the joystick and I can confirm that the joystick will stay in the left/right/up/down position when moved there, but it only needs the slightest touch for it to move back to centre. It certainly does not “stick” in those positions but it will “stay” until tapped back to centre.

Very interesting. Does anybody know if this is to be implemented nationwide?

Many thanks for all the responses. I would really like to know what Lexus think about this “potential” issue. I don’t know what the exact failure mode was on my caliper but I will try and find out from Lexus Hedge End and see if they have had any comment from Lexus. If I get any further details I will let the community know. Thanks again to those who responded, it’s really good to know that there are so many of you out there who care enough about their cars to bother.

Last week I noticed an overheating front disc and put it in, today, with Lexus Hedge End. To cut a long story short, apparently the caliper was seized. I had to have a new caliper fitted but the disc had also warped necessitating replacement of both front discs (no point in just doing the warped one) and new pads fitted. Lexus Hedge End were very good and I highly recommend them. However, they told me they had never seen this problem before and were going to send the defective caliper on to Lexus for their assessment. By the way, the car is an is300h f sport (65 plate) with 45000 miles on the clock. The reason I am posting this is to see if any others have had this problem before or am I just unlucky. Thanks for a response.

Sorry to be a pain, but I remember some time ago seeing a post regarding how to view the aux Battery voltage somewhere in the on-screen Menus and I can’t find it. There was some selected button/switch actions required in Ignition mode but I can’t remember what it was. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
-
John, thanks for responding. I wonder if anyone else has tried this on the is300h or has an alternate method. In any event, my Battery appears to be working ok and is only 3 years old. I was just interested because of the thought of “hidden menus” and not knowing all the Lexus “secrets”. Love this forum as (on the whole) everyone is so helpful and informative.
If anyone knows anymore secrets it might be useful to compile a list for all to take advantage of.

My car is the is300h and the above operations did not work for me. Is the above applicable to my vehicle?

That's exactly the sort of item I was talking about. They do have the advantage of giving an instant reading over the built in hidden menu that is somewhat cumbersome to use.
Sorry if I am missing something but how do I access this “built in hidden menu” to check my Battery voltage?

Good idea Malc. I’ll drive in and try the white stick and dark glasses approach, that might sway it. 🤪🤪😎
