  1. Your right, they haven't lasted long. They folded today and went into administration owing millions. See BBC story in the link BBC Story on Auctionworld
  2. I'm in!!! Never had a signature before so double win!!!! Lets hope its a peaceful time on our roads both over the festive period and beyond!!
  3. Good job Scarface, they look well cool!!! Did you do these yourself or did you find them somewhere?
  4. I'm going through a placid time with my driving at the moment. Whereas before, I'd never have anyone over take me on the motorway cos I was always going faster, I now am going through a period of trundling down the slow lane at 60mph-70mph and quite enjoying it (turning 30 this month so not sure if I'm starting to feel old!!). Also trying to get better fuel economy as costing too much. But driving at this speed has made me realise how fast the average number of cars travel. They are all whipping past me at 80/90/100 or more mph. And some get very arsey when they see me poodling along at 70mph. So this prompts the question. Should the authorities now review the national speedlimit and consider up'ing it. Afterall, cars are hugely improved, ABS is a life saver, braking is far more sophisticated, I believe the braking distances in the Highway code book are still the same as donkey years ago and I think there are more accidents on the motorway where people are pulling out from slower moving cars than those going at a high speed. I'm sure most accidents start by vehicles changing lanes/pulling out/whipping across to get on or off at a junction!! And higher European speed limits don't show any increase in accident rates, I believe the German Autobahns actually have a reduced accident rate (albeit the accidents they do have are probably a lot worse). I just think that having an 80mph or 90mph speed limit wouldn't do any harm. Any thoughts? Apologies if this subject has been done already!!
  5. I agree that it should be none and the law should be changed to reflect it but if I've ever been tempted, I think take a few moments to consider the implications of getting pulled over. Once your nicked, you carry the bad name of a Drink Driver, you struggle to get insured and for those who will insure you, your pay multiples of what you paid before. Many insurance companies don't just ask if you've been convicted of DD in the past number of years, they ask if you've EVER been convicted. Then there is the hassle of getting around without your motor. Add on the embarressment of going to court, explaining to your family, friends and work colleagues why you can't drive. And then there's the possible implications you could cause to other people by doing do. Crashing, hurting, possibly killing innocent people just cos you thought it was easier to do so. And if that doesn't put you off, then think how you'd get by not being able to drive your Lex for 12, 24, however many months!!!!!!
  6. I fully support wearing seat belts and think in 99% of cases, its for the better. You only have to look at the bruising produced on your body that the belt causes when you've had a bad whack to show how much force your body would have generated had you not been wearing one. What makes my blood boil are the large number of absolute irresponsible parents who belt up themselves, but allow their children to climb all over the car whilst driving. If they are not climbing over the back seats, they are standing between the two front seats or even worse, they are standing on the passenger seat with their hands on the dash board and their faces inches from the windscreen. I'd be gutted for the kids if something nasty happened to them as they don't know any different but I'd have little sympathy for the parents!!
  7. Hadn't used confused.com before and just tried it for my own details against the one I recommended (www.moneysupermarket.com). On confused, cheapest quote given back to me was £621, cheapest on moneysupermarket is £437. Of course, everyone's details are different so this won't apply in all cases but wanted to inform that I think moneysupermarket covers a better variety of companies. Don't forget to check small print though as cheapest price isn't always the best!!
  8. Go on www.moneysupermarket.com and put your details in there. This will search most of the major companies and also most of the those that will get recommended on there. It means you put your details in only once to get lots of quotes back. Yes, some companies do search some other companies but this one covers a huge variety. I halved my insurance doing this. I eventually ended up with More Than.
  9. My colleague who has an IS200 as well had his front drivers side wheel arch dented by another motor. Took it to a Lexus dealer to have fixed and they want to replace the wheel arch but also respray the bonnet and the door and surrounds to ensure the colour all matches in. And they want to charge £1500 for the work. But a non Lexus Dealer who uses Lexus parts says that they don't need to do all that but can rectify the dent on the wheel arch and promises it will look as original. I haven't got pictures to show but the dent is literally a small 'dink' into the edge of arch at the top of the wheel. Any advice or opinions, would you prefer to pay the extra and get the dealer to do it for peace of mind or do they generally go over the top to claw in the notes?
  10. I started this topic and I think that judging by the comments posted, its clear who are true bikers at heart and those that are not as opinions vary. Ultimately, there are good and sensible bikers out there along with those who are keen to risk their lives as there are good and sensible car drivers but again, there are those who wish to risk their lives. As only a car driver, I've always given respect to bikers however I'm gradually losing that respect both because of the incident that started this topic and even upto this morning where I was travelling in the far left hand lane approaching a junction to turn off and despite being in a moving queue of traffic, a biker thought it right to absolutely fly down the inside (on the bit between the hardshoulder and the far right lane) and then just as the traffic was moving off the junction, he whipped between two cars and proceeded up the right hand side of the traffic. Had someone moved off the road any earlier, he would have been knocked off and to be honest, I would have stopped to express my anger at him and then awaited the police to report him for being a tw*t. But as I say, as with all methods of road use, some are better and some are poor. There will never be a right answer for bikes versus cars as each have their own rules (official or unofficial)!!!
  11. Just to echo the last posting, I had the same situation with a screw being through the middle of my tyre and therefore a slow puncture down to 13psi. Took it in fearing the worse and they said they could fix it. Cost me £12 and the tyre is as safe as an original. If the nail is not within about within about half an inch of the side wall, go somewhere that repairs tyres and they will sort it out. Beware though, lots of places will say it can't be repaired just because they want to fleece you for a new one!!!
  12. How funny? Expressions on their faces are just as good!!!
  13. Are the jumpers set correctly on your old drive?
