  1. I don't know what a Harrier dashboard looks like but assuming it's like my RX300, where the satnav display screen is, there's a button labelled 'Info'. Press that, then one of the options given on the screen is 'Trip Information' if I remember right (traded it in a month ago so I can't nip out to check).
  2. No, no, theres (apostrophe not working on keyboard) no need for that. It may be a Lexus but its still just a car and as such, any good and trusted garage with competent mechanics can work on it. I think I remember reading on here somewhere that Lexus dealers charge about £130 per hour labour - unavoidable if you have a new(ish) car and want to keep up the stamps in the service book but when cars reach the sort of age yours is, its just not worth it. Up to the beginning of February Id had an 05-plated RX300 for two years and it never saw the inside of a Lexus or toyota garage while it was in my ownership.
  3. I'm no mechanic but in my opinion, yes. Automatic transmission fluid contains various friction modifiers and lubricants for the seals - how do you know that the 'equivalent' contains the exact chemical makeup of friction modifiers and lubricants needed in our transmissions? These cars, if looked after, should be good for well over 200,000 miles and maybe even closer to 300,000, so if you want to get as much longevity out of it as possible, I'd use the recommended fluids. I wouldn't bother buying 'Lexus' tyres/batteries/exhausts and the like but I do use the Toyota fluids as recommended in the owners manual.
  4. Not got it yet mate so can you resend please or PM your email address to me.
  5. Mark, contact me by email jhewitt1958@gmail.com for more info on this.
  6. What Ian said but here's the link for you to read up on.
  7. Sign up to http://www.fuelly.com/ where you can compare your car's fuel consumption with others.
  8. Well I've never driven a 2.4 so you'll know more about it than I do but I can tell you that when the car is fully loaded and you're driving in hilly regions, there were times when I wished I'd gone for the bigger engine. Having said that though, we had it converted to LPG so we liked the economy of paying around 47p/litre but a bit more poke would have been handy at times.
  9. Having had an RX300, I can say that they are huge and heavy cars, so much so that at times, even the 3.0 engine seemed underpowered. The 3.3 engine apparently gave better fuel economy but I really can't see a 2.4 engine even being viable in one of these. Well, as Colin pointed out above, these engines aren't used in the UK so parts may be difficult to source if needed.
  10. Cheers David, I'll certainly do my best my friend, but I can give you a very brief overview now - we absolutely love it!!
  11. Not necessarily just older cars, I think. We've had an 05-plated RX300 for almost two years and as you know, we recently traded it in for a 63-plated RX450h. I was surprised by both the red Luxury at Lexus Bradford that I test drove and the black Advance that we actually ended up buying from Lexus Teeside, in that the braking systems on both cars are much keener and sharper than what we've been used to on the RX300 and, in fact, of any car that we've had in the last 15 years, so I'm assuming that it's just a characteristic of the regenerative braking systems.
  12. I think I'd be going to an automatic transmission specialist if you have one local to you.
  13. As above! If a 2017 car needs these things doing then get rid ASAP or get on to Lexus UK because there is something seriously wrong. Name and shame the dealer?
  14. We bought ours just under three weeks ago from Lexus Teeside, which is about 115 miles from where we live. Same as you, it looked absolutely excellent in the photos and we would also need to p/x ours, so I rang them, made an appointment to see/test it and asked if it would be ready to drive away, subject to the car being right and being able to come to the right deal. They MOT'd it on the morning of our appointment, we arrived at about 11.30 and by 1.30 we were driving home in it, p/x and deals done, no problem at all. You haven't said what your budget is but Lexus Bradford still have the burgundy red 450H Luxury that I had a test drive in and it appears to be an excellent car.
  15. Phil, if you decide to go into Czech, I can highly recommend the beautiful town of Český Krumlov (designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site). A really nice place with the River Vltava running through it where, if you so wish, you can hire a canoe/raft for a lovely paddle down to Zlaty Koruna, where a van will pick you up four hours later. One of the more unusual places we've stayed is in the north of the country, very close to the town of Liberec. The Hotel Ještěd is at the top of a mountain, built into a television transmission tower and well worth an overnight stay just for the experience.
  16. Curioser and curioser.... The list of topics can still be seen in the forum list as you can see below, but once in my chosen forum (RX450h) then it shows the videos
  17. Do you mean that you've still got the list of topics on the right-hand side and can't see the videos there Ray?
  18. I don't like it at all Edward. Without the list of recent topics, we may miss out on a lot of information too, so losing that is a very bad move.
  19. Just logged onto the forum and my page has changed. Looking at the screengrab below, the area on the right that I've outlined in red used to contain a list of the most recent topics and underneath was a list of the most prolific posters. As you can see, now all I'm getting is a list of useless videos - is this something that has changed at the Forum end or is it something I've inadvertently done? More importantly, how do I go back to normal?
  20. Like I said above, I may well go for the warranty as well but, just to play 'Devil's Advocate' it's not quite so cut and dried as the "£1,000 doesn't buy much at a Lexus dealership !!" In order to have the warranty it is also necessary to have the car serviced at a Lexus dealership which, even with service plans and deals, is still far more than going to a local garage for servicing (or it is for me anyway). Secondly, there are many examples of Lexus just replacing parts instead of repairing. I can't remember exact figures but I think someone on here said that a whole brake caliper had been replaced for some trivial reason, at a cost (if they were paying) of £500, so they said that the warranty saved them £500. In reality, a repair or even an exchange unit would cost far less than that so the warranty didn't really save them £500 in 'real' money after all, just Lexus money (which is a bit like Monopoly money ).
  21. I went with NGK Laser Line, a line of products developed specifically for LPG. Good decision or bad? I don't know because we've now sold our LPG-converted RX300, so all I can say is that they performed really well over the approximately 19,000 miles they covered before we sold the car. LPG_info.pdf
  22. Well it should be - that's the whole point of connecting a trickle charger
  23. I called it 'The Lexus Paradox' where people are drawn to the brand because of the reputation for reliability but then they spend hundreds of pounds on a warranty because they worry about their car being reliable and I admit I struggled to understand it. However, I'm now seeing it from the other side and I can say that I may well be eating a portion of 'humble pie' in the future. I'm now 60 years old and have never, ever, spent more than five grand on a car in my life and as such, my cars have always tended to be quite old and not worth buying (or even qualifying for) a warranty. On the other hand, having just spent a few quid short of twenty-five grand on an RX450h Advance that's just over four years old, I'm now contemplating the wisdom of buying an extended Lexus Warranty when the one they supplied with the car is due to expire. My previous cars have always been old enough to get most parts needed from scrapyards and breakers yards, but with something so new (and so complex) there's a certain sense in taking out a warranty on it - or at least that's the way it seems to me now
