  1. It is very interesting to read about tire noise here. From my previous cars, i had an experience that Bridgestones are very loud, Pirrelis and Dunlops are quiet. But switching to Lexus with Bridgestones from factory showed me, it is not the same to have Bridgestones made in Poland on BMW (loud) and Bridgestones made in Japan on Lexus. I have to say Lexus on BS is quieter than BMW 5 on Pirrelis, both 17". I am also having some noise issues with my GS, but they are rather engine than tire related.

  2. On Friday, my car was in service for oil maintenance. While my car was there, i got 2014 IS 250. It is older car, 51000km ODO, but it feel much better. Nothing rattles, nothing vibrates...  Buttery smooth. It was no hybrid and my heavy traffic city consumption average was about 8.5 l/100km. Engine revs ranged from about 600 at idle up to 1500 at light foot acceleration with absolutely no vibration Comparing to this,  my 300h is crap. But.... From what i remember my car didn't vibrate when i left dealer. I remember, switch between electric and petrol operation was seamless. Now it is trashy. Wen ICE kicks in and shut off too. I took serviceman for a spin but he didn't noticed anything unusual. Also rattles I've described above didn't appeared. I am not happy now...

  3. Time ago i was asking about buzz noise from center console. Today i visited dealer for 15000km maintenance and wanted to show them this problem. There was no rattle! i went away and after few kilometers it has returned. I think it is coming from console. If i touch and press it anywhere it looks rock solid, but if I beat it slightly stronger, it rattles. Problem must be inside.

  4. I have on my 2016 GS300h total average of 50,4 MPG (5,6 l/100km). The worst number I've seen on computer was 45.5 MPG (6,2 l/100km ) Driving in summer only highways i am getting about 56 MPG and my record was on holiday trip to Italy 61 MPG on Highways at speed 130 km/h. Maybe You push pedal too hard. Today i drove loaner 3rd gen IS250, great car btw, and i got 8.2 L/100km 34MPG in City driving, in heavy Friday traffic. I can't understand how can  hybrid guzzling so much.

  5. I've noticed on my car similar vibrations as were described on IS forum (low revs at 90kmh...) but this is slightly different. It begin to vibrate not at certain speed, but when i drive longer distance at the same speed. Doesn't matter if the speed is 90 or 130 km/h. Changing revs, or downshift manually makes it disappear, but after a while it appears again. Vibration is similar to open rear side windows. Did You noticed the same on Your car? I am unsure about claim at dealer, but i am angry of that, because the same problem had my previous car (BMW 528i 2014), and I've sold it 99% for this reason and switched to Lexus and got it too after 10000km. Before i had many cars, low class 4 cylinders, but none of them had this problem. It is really annoying.

  6. I have to say, few months ago, when i was purchasing my GS300h, there was one 2014 model for test drive. It was great car except for it's seats. They were too short and too firm for me. It was evident, because few minutes before, i was testing IS300h F-sport, which has the best seats, I've tried. Instead, in showroom, there was my current car, 2016 GS300h with standard seats, which looks the same, but they were much more different to sit. Not as comfy as IS  F-sport seats, but really good. My bigger problem is i cannot put them lower and I am only 170cm (5'7") but if go further with seat, also steering wheel is too far in it's closest position.

  7. I would rather have engine whispering :-) Today I've found something new about this noise issue. I was driving through underground parking garage, windows down and engine was really noisy and engine sound was very coarse. 20 minutes later engine was slightly colder but much quieter. My idea is, if valve timing can do this noise? After start cold timing is different than warm valve timing + there is Atkinson cycle, which may increase noise.

  8. I've read all that "vibration" conversation and before my purchase, i tried IS300h (about 33000 km ODO) and another one pre-facelift GS300h (about 800km ODO). I can say they both and my car too have slight feeling of low revs at that speed. For me this is not problem. My previous car '13 528ix was vibrating much more at whole speed range because of low revs 900-1300. This is common problem of a 4 cylinder and it's flat plane crankshaft. I would compare it to riding a bicycle on incline. It has the same power delivery per 1 revolution without overlap. There is small phase when each piston moves only inertia and it leads to vibration. It is very difficult and physically almost impossible to make silky smooth, efficient and powerful 4 cylinder engine. Regarding this, Lexus engine is very well balanced.
Noise I was talking about in my first post, is perceptible primary at low speed or idle if engine runs and traction Battery is low. It is similar to empty tinny bucket droning. Maybe it comes from exhaust. It sounds like exhaust on this video at 18:00 right after revs dropped.

Is it because when the engine is very cold, it's actually the electric motor which powers the car? I think when you first push the Power button the engine starts up but doesn't provide power to the wheels until it's warmed up a bit, although this doesn't usually take long at all. The car does drive differently for that first 30 seconds or so - maybe that is what you're experiencing?

Yes this is what i suspected it to be. Today i was driving through mountains on twisty roads (car handled very well) and I've noticed another thing related to that noise. If there is no power coming from electric motor, noise is there, if electric motor works and helps ICE, noise is gone. My conclusion: Engine itself is relatively rough under load. It has nothing to do with oil, as i have only 2300km on ODO. Anyway, the car is really sweet.
