They do sort of warranty for 5 years the parts shared with their Toyota cousins (the Hybrid system). Agree it is poor though not to cover the whole car to at least the same level as Toyota. In the US they cover just about everything for 4 years, power-train for 6 and hybrid system for 8 but they do have fairly low mileage limits.

A bit relative. If the battery charge is getting low and you are stationary it can be a bit rough, especially if cold. It will hold the revs up a bit which makes it more noticeable but not exactly violent. Could you get a passenger to take a video clip of it?

No, £215 includes all the parts needed to carry out all the must replace items in the service schedule. Oil, filters etc. are all items replaced as part of the service schedule. The only things it doesn't include are other things which may be spotted during a service like re-gassing the AC or replacing a door seal and the dealer shouldn't do any of that without clearing it with you first. Lexus servicing is a bit more expensive that some other makes but I've found it to be far more thorough, e.g. including a wheel alignment check every 2 years. As your car is over 5 years old it does qualify for the "essential" care option which is cheaper. It skips out some of the more minor checks but covers the main mechanical steps like changing the oil.

Yep - check the spare at least twice a year and have an inflater in the car should the need arise. I also carry an extending wrench as the one with the spare is too short if the bolts are done up tight/welded on. Top tip - if you buy an extending wrench check the socket actually fits your wheel bolts. I found the one I had for years did not fit the size used on Japanese cars and had to buy a different socket from Halfords when I got my Lexus - fortunately I'd tested before actually having to use it in anger. Not so fortunately I recently came to the aid of a colleague and then discovered my socket then didn't fit the works Renault 😣

To be fair I gave up on it in my 2014 CT and haven’t even bothered trying in my 2018 so it might have improved.

I usually opt for the middle setting. Only a few idiots cut me up at that and it is far enough back to avoid stone chipping from stuff kicked up by the vehicle in front. I go with the longest setting if it is really wet.

Yes. It comes with various models and is part of the safety system plus package. 2018 model years include it as standard on the se plus, luxury, fsport and premier levels. On the CT it disengages about 30 mph. My 2014 Advance didn’t have it but my 2018 f sport does. I think it’s great and suits my commute where the speeds on a dual carriageway do vary a bit. I found the Subaru system to be better (has 2 cameras rather than Lexus camera + radar) as it seemed to be smoother where as the Lexus system can be a bit slow to speed up when the car in front moves over and can have a bit of a panic on bends but overall it’s pretty good and saves constantly having to make adjustment if the traffic is heavier.

They significantly stiffened the chassis in 2014 with new welds which then allowed for the suspension to be softened slightly. Doing one without the other might have adverse results. Would you have access to a facelift model to try it before committing to spend on yours?

Well I didn’t want to go grey and dull German so I went orange and Japanese. Italian (been there done that) or French could have provided the not dull factor but Japanese gets me reliably too. Lexus because I loved my Suzuki Swift Sport but now value comfort and a better quality interior, more so than Toyota deliver. I’ve never owned a German car and may never do so. So Lexus probably says an independent thinker, values good engineering and has a nod to caring about the environment but not a green peace activist.

I’m not sure about that. Most CTs have halogen projector lamps rather than HIDs. If new assemblies are needed it might be cheaper to source them from a scrap yard on the continent.

It has tpms but just a warning light if one or more tyres are low. It doesn’t let you get the current pressures in the display like some other models. Nav interface is poor, like other Lexus models. It pulls through the address book and call history fine with my iPhone 7.

My 2014 didn’t have the option but there is an option the the menu on my 2018. Handy when parking in an area more prone to keyless entry and start thefts.

Probably average 2 miles a day. Furthest in one glide was about 3.5 miles on Arran, downhill all the way from the northern end round to the east.

Works for me when swapping cars round on the driveway. Also use it when stuck in stop start traffic to prevent the ICE starting just to run the cabin heating.

Doesn't look grubby enough to me to have been something on the underside of the TBH. Can't think of something in the engine bay that shaped that could have snapped and fallen through.

Battery in the boot just runs accessories, big battery actually turns the motor and in turn the engine to start it. 4.5 years isn’t too bad and within normal parameters for it to be in the way out. Just double check there isn’t an interior light stuck in or something that could be draining it.

I'd definitely recommend the Cross Climates, ran a set over 2 winters in Mid/East Lothian and they got me through the Beast From the East! They were quieter than the Yokohamas and didn't compromise the summer handling much if at all.

It is higher than something like a Ford Focus where by parts are plentiful and cheap but it isn't too bad. I doubt there as many pattern parts for a Lexus so repairs are going to need expensive oem parts (all the better for it I say). I went from a 2014 Advance to a 2018 F Sport and the price hardly moved as the increased value was offset by the lower insurance group owing to the auto emergency braking now included.

Never had one on my 2014 Advance and I did hit 10k miles in under a year so if it had one it should have come on.
