  1. Funny I made the same move! Yup it isn't cheap. Costs are published on the Lexus website: http://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/#ServicingYourLexus Don't be rushed. There are loads about if you are looking 2nd hand and even new there are always deals the be had. Interesting you didn't like the Advance trim. I actually prefer it over the others as it has all the main toys without leather, which I'm not a fan of.
  2. Thanks for the positive responses. Well Costco have my car now to fit them. Will report back once they have had a chance to bed in.
  3. I've toyed with the idea of winter tyres for years but I don't do a high mileage and I don't commute by car so in the end have never bothered with the expense. Looking recently are replacement options for the CT200h 215/45 R17 W 87 tyres on the oem wheels I've noticed that Michelin Cross Climate tyres are now available in 215/45 R17 W 91 XL size. Cross Climates get great reviews and seem to be idea for the kind of usage pattern I have (low mileage with very occasional snow in winter). Has anyone else experimented with these on a CT200h? I note they are of a higher load capacity than the stock tyres and while perfectly legal I'm a little concerned they might cause different handling/a harder ride?
  4. Came across this the other day when looking at tyres myself: http://www.oponeo.co.uk/tyre-article/reinforced-tyres-advantages-and-disadvantages
  5. Just an idea and one designed to satisfy all parties... I've seen on other forums that they have a sticky thread in each model section listing the recalls. A mod maintains the original post, adding recall details to it when they are announced and then members can tack on posts about any of the recalls whenever someone has something to ask/say. That way you don't get multiple topics on the same thing and yet people can find it without resorting to the search function which can be a bit hit or miss.
  6. Sure asking for paint codes or tyre pressures again and again is lazy but asking if people have received a recall letter for a new recall? How is that lazy? It isn't like you can go back threads and find a record of it before it happened... Surely posting a thread about a new recall is a public service to inform people that it has happened and what they need to do about it. Rather than starting another thread on the topic I brought this one back up again as it keeps everything about the 2 latest recalls contained.Given that a month had gone by I expected some people might have received letters (I hadn't), given that if a fault is serious enough to warranty a recall then we have a right to have it carried out as soon as possible.
  7. So a month on has anyone received a letter yet?
  8. Stereo controls are displayed on mine. What model of CT do you have?
  9. Try updating the contact to have the number in international format. I.e. Instead of 01234567891 use +441234567891. Sounds like your phone is reporting the call to the car in that format but it can't match it tot a contact in your list (which is synced with the car).
  10. Some thoughts I penned recently on the CT200h on a long drive compared with a company car favourite - the Ford Focus: I don't think you have anything to worry about save the boot space points
  11. Totally normal, as above. You can have the door unlock buttons on the key fob double up as remote window close/open, something I believe a dealer can program for you.
  12. FYI I've been advised by my dealer that you have to have received the letter before they can order the parts and book you in. Probably be months before they get round to every owner given the numbers involved. Agree - manufacturers should be open about issues and not be penalised by the media for doing so (encouraging a hide it mentality). Cars are complex machines with thousands if parts so no surprise the odd recall is necessary. That isn't to say it isn't also right to question their quality control and decisions on design and part selection, things often driven by budgets than the best engineering. The same can be said for the industry I work in (IT) and data breaches/hacks.
  13. Airbag Should tell you here if your specific vehicle is included: https://forms.toyota.co.uk/lexus-recall-checker (might be wirth checking again in a month in case it hasn't updated yet) 2011-2012 CT200h is included according to news reports. Fuel emissions control unit There is a separate issue which can cause a fuel leak. Seems almost all CT200h are affected, including mine http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/toyota-and-lexus-recall-72885-auris-prius-and-ct200h-models-uk
  14. Noticed a bit of an improvement with the warmer weather we had until this week! 54.3 MPG on the last fill up.
  15. Due to the travel policy we have at work we can't use our own cars for journeys over 100 miles. This ends up meaning I have to hire a car and this week it was a 16 plate Ford Focus which leads onto this post. You see when I was considering changing my car earlier this year I had the option of going the brand new route with the likes of the Focus or picking up a "premium" model that was a year or two old. Given the fact I became a member here last month you can probably tell which route I went in the end Before this week I hadn't actually driven the latest generation of Focus although I had put quite a few miles on the previous gen with an old employers pool cars. I was quite pleased actually when the Enterprise guy pulled up in the Focus as we usually end up with previous gen Astras from Europcar which are fine but nothing special. I'm not 100% sure if it was Zetec or Titanium as it wasn't just the straight model spec (had satnav and 17" alloys) and the Ecoboost 1 litre 125PS engine. The engine was of particular interest as the CT200h takes a different approach to fuel efficiency. Now for comparison sake it also helps I did an Edinburgh to Stafford run in my CT200h just a fortnight ago and this week I did Edinburgh to Sheffield in the Focus so similar mileage (530-560) over the same kind of roads (A class trunk and motorway). Well purely on the trip computer readout, which are often up to 5mpg too optimistic, the Focus did 47 MPG whereas the CT200h did 56 MPG. With the help of the electric motor the CT200h feels similar to the Focus in terms of pulling power although with the CVT the CT200h is more relaxing in stop-start traffic queues. The 3 cylinder thrum in the Focus was well insulated so at higher engine speeds it was quieter than the CT200h. Overall the CT200h probably wins but there isn't much in it, in my opinion and if you were doing that kind of mileage regularly then the IS300h or a diesel of some kind would probably be more suited than either of these. Driving dynamic wise the Focus wins. Well I could elaborate and say the CT200h feels slightly more planted, probably due to the additional weight and lower seating position, but the Focus wins on the fun factor with better steering weight that varies with the speed and suspension which soaks up bumps better although it did have slightly higher profile tyres too. Keeping in mind this was a back to back on motorway miles the CT200h is definitely going to beat the Focus in town with a quieter cabin and CVT saving your left arm and foot (or right). Equipment and cabin wise is where I find it harder to decide. The Focus had lumbar support which should be standard in the CT200h IMO and the armrest was in a better position. Probably due to being a newer model the entertainment system in the Focus was a touch screen affair with decent SatNav that also showed the next turn in the colour display of the trip computer, which I found particularly handy. The responsiveness of the Sync2 system was just as frustrating as the CT200h however with obvious lag between selecting something and the screen refreshing. On the other hand the plastics and seats in the Focus, while not horrible, definitely felt lower rent in line with the price tag. Overall I think I prefer the cabin in my CT200h and the rotary dial system while, perhaps some might say old fashioned, is fine as saves annoying fingerprints which showed up on the Ford's screen. All in all I'm satisfied I made the right choice with the CT200h but it was an interesting experience to compare it with another manufacturers C segment effort. Has anyone else had a similar experience or perhaps switched to Lexus having owned a one of the high volume mid size hatchbacks previously?
  16. As above, stop the car by putting your foot on the brake and then once stopped push down much harder and further (like you are doing an emergency stop) and it should then beep to confirm and the traction control light will flash. You can then move your foot over to the accelerator and it will beep to warn it is releasing after 2 seconds. Took me a few tries to work it out but once learned it becomes intuitive and much easier than faffing about with the foot operated parking brake!
  17. Very discrete! I've admired your car a few times when passing your house (I live a few streets along) and never realised you had dash cams installed.
  18. Some aspects not as good as my TomTom portable unit I've found the satnav fulfils its purpose ok. The traffic part was spot on last Friday, alerting to queues on the M6 around Manchester. Not so bad being in a queue in the CT as you can look round at people getting stressed about wasting fuel while you sit there in silence and creep forwards without burning a single drop of petrol Agree the update process needs to be sorted out but it seems to be an industry wide problem not limited to Lexus/Toyota. That said the Nissan one is a simple SD card arrangement although you still pay through the roof for maps.
  19. I've now gotten the initial load/indexing of 13GB MP3s on a Sandisk Cruizer Fit 16GB down to 3 minutes in Pauls old car :-) About 2300 tracks in total, one folder by album disc under the root, FAT32 formatted. I removed all the ID3v2 tags as suggested above, which also removes all the cover art. I can live without the cover art if it speeds up the ability to browse the album list.
  20. The mpg displayed on the instant consumption display is the mpg since last fuel up. It resets automatically. The mpg by itself can be reset by holding the display button on the steering wheel when on that screen. The knob on the speedo just seems to alternate the mileage trips between a, b or total mileage. Holding it resets the trip a or b mileage depending on which one is on display when you do it. I've just filled up for the second time and got 51.8 mpg by my calculations. The trip was showing 54.6 for the same tankful.
  21. Had my 2014 CT200h Advance a week and so far in about 300 miles the trip says 55.4mpg. Did a good motorway run today which was surprisingly good and actually brough the average up despite travelling at 70 for much of it.
  22. Yup already had that today! Weather is a bit better tomorrow so might get the PW out and then give it a good coating of Autobalm or Armour All Shield. Dealer had given it a good clean but I didn't bother with Supergard so will want to get a coat of protection on soon. I suspect it won't be quite as pampered as under the previous management but it will be well cared for I do miss the HID lamps from the Swift however. Driving home tonight it felt like having a couple of candles lighting the way but I'm sure I'll adjust and can always look to fit better bulbs if need be.
  23. Collected today. Already averaging 10mpg more than my last car
