  1. Hi,

Id only think about having the clutch changed when it starts to slip under load eg going up a hill, when towing a trailer or when acceleration. If its not slipping id leave it for now.

A good garage should be able to replace a clutch within a matter of hours as a rule.

    Not sure of prices though.

    Hope thats of some help.

    Cheers..

  2. Hi and Welcome to LOC :)

I was reading of TIF that youve just got the IS.

Supercharging is the way to go if your after a little more go,did you look at getting the IS300.

Theres very little mpg between the IS200 and IS300,but the 300 goes that bit better.

    Cheers..

  3. Hi,

 Yep i did say im no Soarer expert :D

Yep Jens car is the car im talking of,at least its given people even more reasons to talk about Soarers.

TBH i thought TEMS was the same as a Active, but not owning one i only sort of take half a interest in them.

    Sorry for the confusion :)

  4. Hi and Welcome to LOC :)

Myself i would have gone for replacing the autobox with a secondhand from a breakers.

If the autobox fluid is dirty again then id say the clutches in the box are burning out/burnout and not giving you drive. Is there/was there much engine braking when at a cruise speed you select a lower gear manually by moving the selector. If theres little engine braking then thats another clue the box has had it.

From my dealings with recon gearbox places, yep they do give warranty but only replace the minimum parts to get the box going and to last the time of the warranty then you will find the rest of the worn parts that havent been replaced will cause other problems over time.Thats just my thoughts though ;)

Most breakers give 30 days warranty on parts and ive found that the cheaper/better option in the long run.

In my option if the place you took the car knew what they were doing, when you picked the car up it should have been right first time when you drove away and not had more excuse. If they knew there stuff they should have been able to source any parts needed at the time of repair.

Good Luck with getting the autobox right.

Out of interest how much did they charge you to do the work?

    Cheers..

  5. Hi and Welcome to LOC rosie :)

If the Lexus is your first rear wheel drive car just take your time getting used to how it drives what with the weather making the roads more slippery this time of year.

Just make sure the roads out of the corner and straight before putting your foot down and you wont go far wrong.

Happy Motoring with your new car and dont forget to show us some pictures when you get your new car :winky:

    Cheers..

  6. Hi,

As no ones replied so far,i can only speak as of the mk1 but it might be of help.

The rear seat is clipped in,from memory its a case of pressing down on the front of the seat to unload the clips and moving slightly forward or backwards

Then it should just lift out, there are slots where the back of the seat fixes in so make sure there lined up first when re fitting.

    Cheers..

  7. Hi,

Im no expert on the Soarers, but from what ive been told this TT Soarer manual is very rare because most are autos and it does have the Active suspension as far as i can see because there is wiring going into the top mounts of the suspension and owner is sure its a Active.

When i see the person next i will ask again to make double sure because of what you have said.

    Cheers..

    Chips.
