Relax Linas . You always come over as exactly that . Perhaps if you had a less condescending approach to the other members here ,they might take on board what you say . .........................only saying !

I would leap to Linas defence here. I you read his arguments constructively without any misconceptions about his person; I don’t find his comments on this thread condescending at all. Climate change is a very important issue for all humanity and the thought that someone would openly say they would remove the DPF from their car due to the maintenance hassles it gives them I find totally repugnant like the smell of the soot itself.
I know some people consider discussions on Climate change “woke” but it is real and unless we all contribute our quota to saving the planet our future generations will suffer the consequences. That is why I drive a hybrid currently and would not hesitate to jump to full EV once they become more affordable and the charging infrastructure is more widespread

Why pay such extortionate prices for what is a very easy DIY job and plenty of other cheaper cameras out there?

Herbie I wouldn't call £285 +Vat as extortionate for a professionally installed camera. My main concern carrying out such task as DiY install as compared to  a professional installation is that (a) the dealer will install the system without wires dangling all over the place, (b) you'll get the benefit of warranty with the dealer installed unit and (c) if you have a service plan you will also get 10% off the list price. However if none of the above applies to you then I suppose you may choose to go the DiY route. But from the reviews i have read the Nextbase cams being offered by the Lexus dealers is quite good.

There is definitely a slight disappointment when, having gone through the process of accessing the portal and setting up with your car, you find out there isn’t really much you can do with a car with the standard nav.

Hi Bounce; I suppose i should have asked whether your car has Premium Navigation or the Standard Navigation?. As others have commented the features of the Standard Nav unit is limited. My earlier description applies to premium Nav which is what I have, thus i was only commenting from my own experience on how i went about the set-up. But regardless of the Nav system, just enjoy the car.

  4. Bounce; now that you've got your V5 you will first;

    • need to set up your own personal Lexus Link Account, with your own password and personal details. visit   Lexus Link | Lexus UK
    • Once you have the account set up, you go to the car multimedia and link the car with your Lexus account. Better to do this when you're parked in front of your house in order that you can use your home WiFi.
    • Also depending on the type of phone you have (Andriod or Apple) you go to the Google Play store or App Store to download the phone app for your phone, thus you can use connected services from your phone

If in doubt read the guide from this link: Lexus Link | Lexus UK

  5. Hi Tim; I had a 2018 F Sport from new which I PX for a new Takumi spec in Dec 2020, I can confirm the driving dynamics of both are remarkably different. The F sport suspension is a lot firmer and the seats are hard and hug the driver too hard in my opinion. The Takumi on the other hand has adaptive variable suspension and very very sublime. The Takumi characteristics suits my driving style better, it rides comfortably. But at the end it will be down to your preference and unless you test drive both models you won’t really have the answers to all your other questions.

I also prefer the leather in the Takumi it is a step above that used in the F Sport and that is why the Takumi is a lot more expensive.

Hello everyone I'm new to your forum, and I'm from Vallromanes (Barcelona).

First of all, excuse my bad English, I have been following you for a long time and this time I would like to ask a problem I have with Android Auto since I have seen that you have a lot of experience and knowledge about it.

I recently had the same installed in my 2019 Lexus 300H that includes the connected navigator.

Since its installation I have lost the possibility of playing music through USB, I have deactivated all the Android Auto, I have canceled all its settings and I have set the Lexus connected as the preferred system, that is, the one prior to the installation of the android auto But there is no way to activate usb as an audio player through different USB sticks.

I will appreciate that if anyone has encountered the same problem, and has found the solution, tell me what to do.

Despite contacting Lexus, they have not even answered me, a regrettable situation since I have been a customer for years and currently have 2 Nx.

Best regards and thank you very much, Javier

Javier; sorry to hear about your experience with the Lexus app. As you have disconnected Android Auto; have you tried re-installing? Though I use an Iphone so I connect to apple CarPlay, so can’t offer much advice. Your Local Lexus dealer could have been much helpful though.

  7. I echo everything you’ve said Peter Yes I bet we all want the Covid lockdown boredom to be over and we can get our lives back. But than God we are all safe. Am waiting to take the vaccine when it gets to my age band.
Regarding the Car’s HUD display, I have just left it as set by the dealership, I use the CarPlay map most of the time hence not sure if that can be projected via the HUD

  8.  No reason why it shouldn’t but you need to set up the account first. I presume you’ve downloaded the app already.
if you know the car registration then you can commence the registration but in some cases if it is a brand new vehicle you may need to wait for the V5 log book to arrive before completing the set-up

  9. Hi Peter ; am still assessing the in-car hotspot; so far it connects seamlessly.
when I am leaving the house Car play connects via the home WiFi. I personally use Spotify a lot for music listening; thus the idea of having on the tap WiFi does suit me. And for Spotify all that is required is just one off download when you start up the car outside of one’s home WiFi range thus the Lexus 2GB package @ £8/ month is not too bad in the scheme of things.
Did your dealership manage to set up the Lexus free WiFi for you in the end?
