  1. I seem to remember the solution was a smear of vaseline on the sensor.
  2. I think you can retain any number plate - as long as the DVLA can make money out of it, they're not bothered what the registration is.
  3. It's been there for quite a while already then?
  4. Here's a link to the Daily Mail article mentioned. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/cars/article-12826927/Car-theft-high-keyless-tech-blamed.html?ico=mol_desktop_moneycars
  5. Not in all cases. Someone had a go at my MY23, and it cost me £120 to have the headlamp reconnected and everything clipped back into place (plus the price of a big yellow steering lock to deter further attempts). How did you eventually dispose of your ES? You state what you lost, and that Lexus dealers weren't interested, but I didn't see where you eventually sold it.
  6. There's an article in today's Sunday Times about someone selling their Range Rover because they couldn't get insurance. Here's a paragraph from the article: Eight of the ten most frequently stolen car models in the year to February were Range Rovers and Lexus SUVs, according to the government’s Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. The insurer Axa said that Land Rover thefts increased 80 per cent between 2021 and 2022. They don't give any information on how the data was calculated.
  7. it does seem strange that Lexus are advising their customers to buy locking boxes for their OBD ports. How many of their customers do they think are going to access the ports? They are there for Lexus, and they are the ones who should make sure they are are secure.
  8. If you're going to come back in a year's time to tell us you were right, could you please be bit more specific about what you are predicting? Just saying 'an economic downturn' and 'like 2008' is not going to get you a job as an economic forecaster.
  9. Yes - built September 2022.
  10. There's been a software fix. That's probably what stopped them being able to drive mine away when they tried. Unfortunately, Lexus haven't informed the scrotes, and until they do and the word spreads to all of them, they're going to keep on trying
  11. I bought a Stoplock Pro for my MY23 ES after someone tried and failed to steal it - presumably because of the canbus revisions to MY23. The Stoplock Pro didn't fit (despite the info sheet saying it would), and I had to change it for the Stoplock Pro Elite.
  12. I downloaded an update for the app over the weekend. I got in the car this morning and it wasn't recognising me, and telling me to log in again and pair my phone. I got three quarters of the way through the process before I realised that I was no longer logged into the app on my phone - presumably as a result of the update. How do Lexus manage to make things go wrong in ways that no-one else could even imagine?
  13. Someone attempted to steal mine earlier this year. The left hand front bumper was pulled away. I took it to the dealer, and the bodyshop manager told me the headlamp wiring had been disconnected, and that they must have been disturbed as they were within a few minutes of driving it away. Mine's MY23, so I guess it was actually saved by the Lexus canbus mod, which the bodyshop guy probably wasn't aware of. It still cost me £120 to have the wiring reconnected and all the plastic clipped back together again.
  14. Maybe not, but I bet your premium will go up by a large amount at your next renewal.
  15. Will Lexus be writing to all known and potential car thieves to give them the affected chassis range? That way, the scrotes could check the visible VIN to see if there was any point in damaging your car by pulling away the front bumper to access the wiring.
  16. I think it's definitely "Wireless Apple CarPlay, and also but not wireless Android Auto" - but that does not look as impressive. I do think it's a deliberate attempt to mislead, and not the sort of tactics I would expect from a manufacturer.
  17. I was brought up on this, and I have to say I prefer it. https://www.saabplanet.com/night-panel/
  18. That sounds about right. Build is quick, but that status also includes transport to the docks and getting it on a boat, so the next status update you get will be when it sails. Shipping time seems to be about four weeks, then they used to say another two weeks to get it from Portbury to Burnaston, then on to the dealer, That's where mine went wrong - it sat on the docks in Portbury for three weeks. Lexus Customer Services described that as a 'minor delay' - clearly the person saying that had never worked in an operational function.
  19. Go to the audio screen, and touch the three dots - there's a thread about it somewhere.
  20. But it's not black with a red interior!
  21. Going for finance then pulling out at the last minute doesn't work. The extra contribution comes from the Finance Company, so the dealer is not going to suddenly offer you that amount extra out of their margin. I bought mine through CarWow, took the finance, and paid it off within the first month.
  22. It's £69.16 on Amazon.
  23. I think you have to sign up for the optional 'trial' elements to get the remote control.
  24. I finally got round to pressing on the 3 dots and tried to adjust the sound to get more from the rear, as I couldn't hear anything from the rear. As I moved the arrow on the screen more to the rear of the car, the more the volume reduced, which would suggest there are no rear speakers. I've checked the spec (MY23 Premium Edition) and it says it has a Pioneer 10 speaker system. Does anyone know if that 10 includes any rear speakers, or are they all in the front?
  25. Is the finance quote for the current vehicle, or for the order you cancelled? I'm not an expert, but I would say that if you cancel an order, then all the terms relating to that order are cancelled with it. When you ordered the current vehicle, did the finance deal offer the deposit contribution?
