  1. The website seems to have been changed (notice I don't say improved). Looking at My Lexus, there is a revised format for the order status - although my order still seems to be in the black hole of 'order being processed'. The New Car layout has also changed There are no quick links to order a brochure, althogh when you do eventually find a link to order a ES Brochure, it's now a 4 page leaflet listing the prices. The option to Explore ES, which previously showed a video of the car, now just seems to give details of 3 features. Lexus seem to be going 'informationless', rather than 'paperless'.
  2. With the changes in VED, where the tax is automatically cancelled on transfer of ownership, none of the dealer's used car stock will have a valid RFL (tax disc as was).
  3. It's very illogical. When you click on the ES Brochure, it takes you to the Price List. In the Price List there is an option to click to 'View Full Brochure' - this takes you back to the screen to download the Brochure, which is, of course, the Price List.
  4. I remember The Liver Run. I could never understand why the organ was flown to Stansted for delivery to a hospital in West London; why didn't they fly to Northolt?
  5. Over 24 hours for a response over the week-end doesn't seem too unreasonable. Maybe your salesman isn't working this particular week-end - or maybe they want to contact Lexus UK for information; I imagine they only work Monday to Friday. I'm not happy about the delays, but I think maybe you should be a bit more tolerant about the time taken to respond over a week-end.
  6. I realise there's been some disruption caused by events outside their control. However, my delivery date has been moved back five months. Even if you take out one month for annual factory shutdown, that comes down to four months. I haven't read anywhere that they've lost four months production due to earthquakes, or that their production will be down by 33% this year. As I said in my earlier post, I think there has been a problem with their delivery date predictions.
  7. Just had the phone call. My car, ordered Feb 14 and originally quoted July/August has now gone back to November/December. There has to be something seriously wrong with their delivery date predictions if they can slip to nearly twice the original forecast in less than two months.
  8. I remember getting pulled over by a Met Police traffic car when I was driving an SD1. The car had just been launched, and I was driving it because I worked for another manufacturer, and BL had lent it to us for appraisal (a common practice). The police weren't the slightest bit interested in me or my driving - they just wanted a look at the car because they knew they would be getting it soon.
  9. I can't help feeling they're a solution looking for a problem. Mirrors work - and you say the image is not as sharp as a mirror. OK - they give you guidelines for reversing, but they're there on the reversing camera. Mirrors tend to be vulnerable to both accidents and vandalism, so I'm not convinced I would want such an expensive option in that position for the sake of a few guidelines and reduced image quality.
  10. Try this. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001180316111.html
  11. if you look at the ES price list, it actually shows a List Price (P11D) and an OTR Price. I'm sure all the other dealer fit items you mention would be done after registration!😉
  12. You're right about the total VED figure - I was taking it over 5 years, and therefore excluding the first year when it's in the OTR price, whereas in fact it applies for 5 years of renewals (years 2 - 6). For the subtraction of VED and first registration fee, Google brought up this reference: https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/askhj/answer/96980/what-s-included-in-the-list-price-of-a-vehicle-
  13. If you have an order placed prior to the last price increase, you already have a notional price 'benefit' of about £1,500 over the current price. Add in another price increase of at least £1,000 (Lexus would not be daft enough to price the car with metallic just over the threshold), then you have a 'benefit' of around £2,500 compared to the market prices at the time you would be making the decision to cancel. Assuming Lexus prices maintain a similar competitive level to where they are now, then if you cancelled your order and went for another make you would lose that £2,500 'benefit' because you did not want to pay the extra VED of about £1,400 over years 2 to 5 of ownership. I'm not sure I'd follow that route.
  14. The stereotypical owner of any make of car would not park on a pedestrian crossing.
  15. Have you heard anything, or are you just being pessimistic?
  16. Do most of you remove them when the car is parked to reduce the risk of theft, or leave them in place to catch parking damage? (Please don't answer 'yes'.)
  17. What delivery were you quoted? Shipping time from Japan is around a month, plus another 2 or 3 weeks for it to be processed by Lexus in the UK, so you shouldn't expect it to show in build until it's close to 2 months before the quoted delivery date.
  18. My initial renewal quote this year came down by about £30 (£490 to £460). That was for a renewal with Aviva at the start of March.
  19. Remember this one?
  20. <Yuri Shevchuk, a lecturer in Ukrainian at Columbia University, said that native Ukrainians stress the first vowel, and pronounce it like the “i” in the word “kid” or “lid.” The second vowel is pronounced as a separate syllable, and sounds like the “ee” sound in “keel.” The v is also pronounced a bit differently, like the end of the word “low.”>
  21. Does Lyse Doucet have it written into her contract that every time she appears on screen she will be introduced as 'Chief International Correspondent'? Clive Myrie does it all the time, usually just after he's pronounced Kyiv as a one syllable word.
  22. I knew, and mentioned it myself. The person I was dealing with said he was glad I was aware; his manager had suggested he shouldn't talk about it.
  23. The cheapest demo to the same spec on the Approved Used site is more than £3,000 more than I'm paying for a new car. If another price rise does happen, I guess I'll just have to accept it - although in that case, if I'd known in advance, I might have been more tempted by the Premium Pack. You can't win them all.
  24. I think the list is the P11D value, so you can deduct the VED and First Registration Fee from the OTR price.
  25. Thinking about this a bit more - I hope there isn't another price increase between now and when I take delivery (currently planned for September). I believe the VED surcharge is calculated on the list price at date of registration; the government couldn't care less about the price of the car at the time the order was placed.
