  1. Looking at the age of your Lexus (your profile says 2021), I would guess that was when you traded in your Audi to buy it. That was at a time when Covid has caused massive supply problems for all brands, and new and used car prices were increasing rapidly. I think the £3000 loss on your Audi over three years is something to celebrate, but it was caused by exceptional circumstances, and is not a benchmark to be used for measuring depreciation.
  2. Yes, but I think Lexus have handled it extremely poorly, from denial of a problem through to issuing false statements to 'Watchdog', through to failing to contact customers.
  3. I've had one fitted to mine. It was free, and Lexus pay for a 3 year subscription. I think it's battery powered, so you can't renew the subscription, but instead have to have a new one installed as the batteries won't last. Is it a good thing? I suppose it's an additional deterrent if word gets out that Lexus cars now have a tracker fitted, and it could also help with insurance premiums. Potential downsides are that thieves may cause more damage looking for the tracker - or simply that you stand more chance of getting your car back after a theft; this problem has made me seriously consider moving to another brand.
  4. Have you had your free tracker installed yet? Check the other threads on here or contact your dealer if you weren't aware of this.
  5. I have the Stoplock Pro Elite. It seems to work - the car hasn't been stolen since I've had it!
  6. It seems to have taken them a long time to realise that their last software update in February had not been properly tested - unless we were meant to be testing it!
  7. I had an E Class in 2017. I would say the Mercedes app and in car navigation, and links between the two were better in the Mercedes that they are in my MY23 ES. And 6 years is a long time in electronics development, so I would imagine the Mercedes apps of today are streets ahead of the Lexus offering.
  8. The problem with posting details of other people's stolen cars is that the forum is very unlikely to be updated if the car is recovered.
  9. I've had the tracker fitted to mine - Model year 23, first registered December 2022.
  10. My quote was from the Lexus GB announcement.
  11. If it's battery powered, how does it do this? "As a second layer of protection, customers can download the Tracker smartphone app, providing a host of additional features, including setting a geofence alert. This automatically warns the owner if their vehicle is detected travelling beyond pre-set locations."
  12. I think you only seem to get the security upgrades if you've been chasing the dealer and Lexus CR - if you haven't, then Lexus aren't going to offer you anything.
  13. It's a tracker only, not an immobiliser, and a three year subscription. Mine was fitted last week.
  14. I believe there's a problem with Mazda CX 5 diesels and oil contamination. I know my brother had one, and had this problem. It might be worth a google. https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/174938/mazda-cx-5---mazda
  15. I think that the remote climate function only came with Model Year 23, with the revised Navigation unit.
  16. The vehicle sends a message to the app if you have left the car unlocked. If you are away from the car, that's when the ability to lock it via the app is useful.
  17. So what happens to all the cars they take as trade-ins when people upgrade? Are they just not going to tell the prospective buyers about the problem, hold them in stock until there is a fix, or scrap them?
  18. According to Automotive Management, Lexus have reduced the price of some vehicles - there go the residuals! https://www.am-online.com/news/lexus-slashes-ev-and-hybrid-prices-to-boost-private-sales
  19. Earlier in this thread (May 2) I posted the response I got from my dealer when I asked about any updates on the anti-theft situation. In view of their negative response, I contacted Lexus CR; their response was to say that the dealer could fit the plates. I sent them a copy of my dealer's email which said that the plates were not available for the ES. A few days later, I had a call from the dealer asking me to come in so that they could fit the plates! I sent an email to Lexus CR thanking them for sorting it (their job is a pretty thankless task!), and asking if there was a date for a real solution. They replied that a software solution was 'imminent'.
  20. On picture no. 25 you can see the cruise control on the steering wheel.
  21. Maybe you meant to post in the GS Forum?
  22. When it happened to mine, the lights were simply disconnected. The total cost to reconnect and refit the panel was £120. Still no word from Lexus on the solution they told Watchdog would be available at the end of April!
  23. Meanwhile, this is what jaguar land Rover are doing. https://www.am-online.com/news/more-oem-support-to-tackle-jaguar-land-rover-customers-insurance-woes
  24. An update from the dealer: "My apologies for the confusion, I thought you were asking for the protection plate which is not available for your vehicle. The product enhancement for your vehicle has not been released to the network yet and we have not been given an ETA on when it will be provided." So it looks as if the April 26 date in the orginal statement from Lexus was primarily to get Watchdog off their backs - or am I being too cynical?
