  1. I'd guess at 'No', as lexus changed so much between models, but don't know.
  2. WEll, just because they aren't Air-Con savvy, doesn't mean they can't fix the rest of the car? Otherwise, is Swindon too far to consider? Gas + Go have a Lexus-trained mechanic.(Or had, 3 years ago-so check!)
  3. Mark 3 is just FINE for general use really! Comfortable, quick when needed.... Road conditions in U.K. mean that comfort a priority now? Warmth and good hi-fi! Setright had a philosophy about how passengers felt in cars and....they feel great in an LS!
  4. Can we have Post No. 4 translated into English from text, please? (-:
  5. Tony Bones did my LS 400 CAR balance. Knows his stuff AND a Lexus fan. Wheels in Motion. Tell him I sent you!
  6. Good luck with that. Reminds me I have a Ser 4 Prop shaft sitting in my garage........but no one ever needs one!
  7. Thanks Mike, aka Eagle-eye!! Good spot! It's not easy. I'm just hoping the twin of Ambermarine's car appears (14 year old ,18K miles.......Garaged.....service history....local...) Will pay extra!
  8. So now we want an LOC member to check this car out! It interested me, but is over 5 hours away!
  9. VVVT-i engine. Sat-nav. Plus the all important Anti-skid system that the Ser 3 didn't have (in this country alone, for some reason!) Plus, of course subtle improvements like slightly better mpg, more HP, more hip room, etc.
  10. In his 'Car' review of the Ser 3, Setright complimented the sound system too. As a lifetime hi-fi fan, this was important in my looking at the car initially! But apparently Nakamichi went bust, so repair difficult.
  11. Apologies if this has been posted previously. A major reason I bought 2 LS 400s! http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/lexus-ls400-nakamichi-page-4 ....and a reason I might get another!
  12. Well, the Japanese didn't use to like Leather seats in limos, I believe, so Velour WAS luxury to them. Don't know if it's changing nowadays. In summer, it can get sticky on leather! I use a wood-bobble seat cover-just like Taxis! Except THEY nip your legs when you get in car wearing shorts/bathing costume!
  13. I recall a story of someone at Halfords giving the cashier an item to purchase. Scans it. "Sorry sir, we're out of stock of that item" IT'S IN HIS HAND! A metaphor for totally believing a computer readout as 'gospel'! I agree re complexity. It only takes the weakest link in the chain to fail. And not many people understand the whole picture, so just replace stuff.
  14. Also check 'Gas and go' in Swindon (surprisingly! given the name?) who have a Lexus mechanic there (or had, 3 years ago)
  15. You have to realise that 'service' is an outdated concept in this wonderful country of ours. I get hi-fi stuff from .....South Korea....Japan....Taiwan.... that arrives in 3 days initially, well packed with tracking etc. but, as you say, after that it gets used as a football, sits on a shelf, etc.
  16. Footman James have been doing 'classics' for MANY years! I used them on my DS23 in 80s. Helps if you're a car club member too. (As enthusiasts probably care for their vehicles?)
  17. You CAN get therapy, you know! Or....is it your way of reducing the world's pollution by keeping cars off the road? (-:
  18. All these microwaves are probably causing Road rage as well! Does anyone know? Still, if we all die of brain cancer, the world has FAR too many humans in it anyway and it'll be the ones who are consuming the most who go! I frequently refer to the old Citroen 2CV advert that has a list of features the 2CV DIDN'T have; then at the bottom, said "Nothing to go wrong"!! Wipers have their own computers, apparently! Was thinking of a Smart (Forfour), but now........
  19. Check accelerator linkage in case it's somehow stuck open? (Under bonnet, though I guess you may as well check some 'carpet interface' inside!
  20. I'd guess that steve has a few spare wheels available! (?) It's a very USA/European habit, where winters are savage, to have seasoned tyres. But for soft Britain, where 2 days of snow send us into paroxysms of panic? Not so sure! I was in Canada in '77 when 5 feet of snow fell in one night! Now THAT is snow! And it's 20 below for MONTHS!
  21. Is this just because currently it's cold and the condensation is caused by this? Those seat pics are frightening! All that gubbins!
  22. £50? I'm still growling....a friend found a rare set of headphones from 70s that I've looked for for ages....for £5 inc 4 LPs in a charity shop !! Last set went on t'Bay for £206! You just have to be there at the right moment! Steve obviously was! Give you £60.....that's 20% profit! (-: ...P.S. Ah....would be 50% ! Winter tyres a good concept, if you can afford it. Also good when some ******d screwdrivered all 4 of my tyres on my Citroen DS one night-only person to have 4 tyres/wheels stored + ready! And putting wheels on a DS is easy-you use the suspension to raise and lower the car!
  23. Not just ML speakers (rot). Hi-fi my main interest. Lots of speakers use foam rubber as edge suspension and, inevitably, it decays with age. You can get re-foam kits for hi-fi speakers-don't see why not for Car ones. Some sensible makers use 'doped fabric' surrounds -like my Leak Sandwich units that were made in the mid 1960s and are STILL functioning!
  24. Will you please stop?!! I've just reserved a Ser 4! (-: Originally I'd contemplated a 430, ideally the 6 speed. But, really, the Ser 4 is more than enough car. (I wonder if Lexus ever thought of licensing Citroen's suspension system/)
