  1. Hey! Lay off the 'Magic Carpet' bit! That's trademarked to Citroen! You won't find a more 'magic' ride than a DS-you can whizz over 'sleeping policemen' easily. Superb (unique!!) suspension, fat tyres....... The LS400 is pretty fine though, I found.
  2. Yes; check Yellow Pages (etc) for local Air-con man. Whisper it softly-might do cash deal.....
  3. Now to Haylands' perfectly valid point about driving while tired. I believe that this is not a black and white issue - there are levels of tiredness at which it is still safe to drive ??? 'Safe' until not so? If your faculties are impaired, even just 10% ....... It's a 2 ton deadly weapon , going at speed.
  4. Wives and children = low cash! Tempted to offer on your car-as you are pretty local to me! a 600HL would suit you?
  5. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-ls400-/251920633464?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276 Reading 'Feedback' alerts me!
  6. Belt every 4 years? Age, as well as miles, a factor in it -though folks have gone on far longer.
  7. Sucker! DON'T mention Swindon's Outlet Village as a 'bribe'! Just concentrate on how safe/comfortable etc the lovely car is!
  8. Old Citroens always had deep tyres -Michelins especially designed for the DS for example. The CX Turbo had metric tyres that I switched to deeper ones for a better -SOFTER!- ride.
  9. Gas + Go sounds odd, but they have a Lexus trained mechanic there. I had Cam Belt done there 3+ years back. They are an lpg garage, hence the name.
  10. I don't think 'Radiation clouds' hang about in one place for years? Not that the world hasn't got more toxic in recent times. But, remember the Russian 'cloud' that wandered across US-Welsh Lamb wasn't sold for years....... Though THIS might not reassure you! http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/gallery/2015/mar/30/fallout-fukushima-pictures-japan-nuclear-tsunami-photographers
  11. I seem to recall that Japan stopped making diesels after the Tsunami (not because of though!). Nissan used to offer one but switched to a 3.5 V6 petrol (as in Z, Elgrand,Skyline.....)
  12. 2CV? I recall sticking a Paraffin heater in my Dyane overnight when it snowed. there was one car completely snow-free in the whole street! Heated seats!! We're such softies in 21 century! What's wrong with a bit of carpet on seat? Or even.....Sheepskin?
  13. We inherited a Micra which had most panels dented or scraped (90 year old owner! Kept hoping no one would recognise the 'car that hit us' and chase us, thinking it was us!) But, car only had 18K miles and has trundled on faithfuly for 6 more years so far. Scrapes add character. And you don't worry about it. In contrast, I HATED my LS 400 getting ANY slight dents! But -who is the happier?
  14. So no temptation to get a 2CV then! Nice simple technology! (-;
  15. "Karma (Sanskrit: कर्म; IPA: [ˈkərmə] ( listen); Pali: kamma) means action, work or deed;[1] it also refers to the principle of causality where intent and actions of an individual influence the future of that individual.[2] Good intent and good deed contribute to good karma and future happiness, while bad intent and bad deed contribute to bad karma and future suffering.[3][4] Karma is closely associated with the idea of rebirth in some schools of Asian religions.[5] In these schools, karma in the present affects one's future in the current life, as well as the nature and quality of future lives - or, one's saṃsāra.[6]" I guess you meant 'Calm'?
  16. "Just hope" they don't rub? A bit of an expensive gamble? The space under the arches isn't huge. And 'rubbing' might have safety aspects. AND, you need to tell insurance company of alteration!
  17. RX, hey? He said in best Homer impression..... I was looking at a Citroen Mehari that the seller said was for sale 'because my dog flatly refuses to go in it'!!! (Can't find it now)
  18. O.K. it's not a Lexus but.......same idea. Don't venture into little (Italian in this case) towns if you take your car abroad! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t58r0lKLl0
  19. Well a couple of my mates think I drive a drug dealer car, so maybe I should get the rear windows tinted (as I do have a few hoodies - good for pottering about the garden on a windy day), and then start parking up at the local bus station at midnight. Well, Pete. When driving my BMW 850 Coupe through back streets in Cheltenham, we got pulled over by cops! Luckily my ownership docs come up as Doctor Skelton, so.....was O.K.!! Given my longish hair etc! I think window tints should match car colour-so....Silver for Silver car, etc..
  20. .....and we want a detailed account of how it feels in comparison with your LS400.
  21. Speak for yourself! I was 'only' 34 when I got my Citroen DS23! My last Ser 4 was this colour.
