  1. No; mileage quite low. It's just having less 'need' for a big car - except the habit/emotional pull. I always had a 'treat' car. First big Citroens, then (after brief fling with a BMW 850-V-12!!) 2 LSs. Last car was a Nissan Elgrand van! (15 months ago since lottery winners bought it from me!). It's the dilemma of economy versus indulgence? (If a nice low mile lpg Ser 4 appears......temptation! One DID 2 years ago, but needed too much work)
  2. About to contact a 99K mile Ser 4, for sale on Autotrader.....it's GONE! Not sure if sold (they don't say) but it was only 15 miles from me; S-wales at a guess. hope it's gone to a fellow Ownersclub member. Looks like my wondering about rejoining LS ownership is put aside.....
  3. I've been looking at a Saab 9-5 XWD 2.8, but seeing these pics (and knowing the quality!) reminds me....there's no contest! I love the Saab ethos, but then, I love the Lexus ethos as well. (Saying all this, I'm unlikely to get another big car. Eyes on a Smart Forfour 1.5 Auto!)
  4. He's not real, you know! (-: And my experience of taking an LS 400 to Cornwall is......it's far too big for many of the roads there!
  5. I thought there was a safety switch on the LS 400 that DID allow the boot to open - I thought, having experienced the same problem, that I'd rembered this? 460. Do you find getting in not as easy as Ser 4 400? The angle of the A pillar is steeper and catches the head. Unless it's me and my big head! Car looks lovely.
  6. I always believed that using manufacturers recommended tyres was best. I even imported a set of (Dunlops?) from Japan once because I read that the Euro-Dunlops had slightly different tread! A bit different to paying £5 each for part-worns for a 2CV!
  7. Isn't one of the US firms' badge like that (Lincoln maybe? or Caddy.)
  8. Moderators; can you please ban Ambermarine from posting pics (and story!) on here ever again!!? That car was SUCH a bargain-AND close to me as well! Every time he mentions it, I get a year older in repressed regret! (-:
  9. ...and it 'sold' a year ago in Bristol before the current one. For some strange reason, I was suspicious at the time. Sometimes stuff that seem too good to be true....is? (Which site? eBay?)
  10. How dull. Here we are in 21 century, yet still we produce cars with boot, bonnet, round steering wheel. Perhaps the Avantime was ahead of its time (and flawed) but this is just stupid? the back looks just like the Toyota people carrier. where is the next design progression? This is just a tarted up variation. Having just read that UK will have another 20 million people in 25 years.......the roads will be too jammed, unless we abandon personal ownership of cars and move on to a car version of Boris (now Barclay) bike scheme for cars; plus better public transport. I'm off to spend my declining years in Andalucian hills, in a Mehari for shopping?
  11. Reminds me of being in a Spanish hotel basement car park, with ferry 120 miles away to catch, in my Citroen CX GTi. Suspension decides not to rise from flat-on-ground........arrgh! (The switch gets muck in it, I find out later....) You CANNOT drive on this level. Eventually, it DID work....after an hour or more! There ARE some benefits to non-hydro set-ups!
  12. Typical US gas guzzler! Essential to have lpg here. Have seen a couple in UK. X Trail more suited to UK?
  13. HOW? Changing cambelt doesn't involve the Gas! If the work done improperly, the car would react the same with petrol or gas....after all, petrol IS gas at ignition. Gas+Go in Swindon are a bit far from you, but there must be others who'll do the belt.
  14. Just subscribe to the CIA satellite feed? (-: Can't believe that there are so many unseen/uninsured drivers! What do the Police camera vans DO with the info? I thought it was car-confiscation time if uninsured.
  15. Is this in Yate? I recall visiting his previous car, if so. There's a similar painted Citroen CX, with added turbo on Y'tube.
  16. They probably saw your 'Donald Trump' monicker and took the obvious conclusion?
  17. I love it. "come on love, there's room for you here on these boards when we visit your Mum...."
  18. Didn't someone contact him? Could ask what happened. I was tempted though not at £8K.
  19. No offence intended! Just reflecting on often we have scant knowledge of distances in Scotland! Looking at map, I wondered why arran was excluded from being part of Argyll? I spent 5 days collecting Avantgarde Duo speakers from there once (look them up) great trip.
  20. Us ignorant English, thinking Argyll is 'near' Edinburgh? On a par with being asked, in Africa, if you-say-'know' David Beckham cos you live in England? Must look it up. as to 'worth' angle. It's not easy. you can, for example get a Citroen C6 for £6-7K. (Which I've considered) But....as we frequently point out on here, the Ser 4 is a unique concept. Low miles not always good as, if car only used for local trips, etc., the engine CAN gunk up, I guess. But still tempting to me (at £6K, not £8K.) So tell the guy? I could fly up.......
