  1. Wow! Unless you were testing the Micra speed on the Autobahn? (Ours is a 2000 in Technoflare paint!)
  2. It's brexit? All avatars are European property. We only get to call ourselves numbers or letters now. And Ggogle, being in Luxembourg, won't work, etc...... How are you with wood fires and a flint? MY Avatar? It's of the view from Nicholas Luard's house in Andalucia, towards Morocco. So immune!
  3. Yes. Neighbour bought a 3 year old one for circa £16K! Cheaper to buy a £1K car once a year? Or an LS, of course. pedant's (or pedants') corner. Aaron; no ' in spots (not spot's)...though 'spots're' would have done!
  4. As an owner of an original Micra (1998) I agree. All small cars have grown. If only makers had followed the Citroen AX/BX concept of making cars light-imagine the mpg! Or Smart Forfour-plastic body. My neighbour just bought a Merc E300 diesel hybrid. 2.1 litre car, does 7.5 secs to 60, is the size of an LS 400, but does 68mpg! But is heavy and not THAT big internally. It's all the padding-airbags, anti-crash stuff. When I saw a Dyane zipping down the road this morning.......thin tin doors......
  5. You do the climbing; we'll just look at the pictures! Just open the window here to get a bit of atmospheric wind...... P.S. Eskimoes don't wear PINK hats!
  6. Mike(MLW), re oil changes. I just noticed Lidl are about to sell an oil pump -£12.50, if I recall - that you can use via the dipstick pipe. Saves going under the car!
  7. Add me to the Avantime fan list.....but then, I'm a lifetime Citroen addict as well, so used to advanced/off-the-wall stuff! If I wasn't giving up on big cars, I might be tempted.....(XM is going soon) As to AA/RAC checks. I sold a CX Turbo to a guy who sent the AA; they even jacked the car up (high!!) and crawled about underneath for ages! VERY thorough.
  8. Ex-Avantime owner! Just what was THAT like? we need a distraction here! Always loved the concept-just not the bad reviews.
  9. So,Pete? Start the climb about 1 a.m. then? we's not getting any younger! Take several torches and check the phone(s!!) are charged and tell someone local you're climbing....... It's going to be chilly!
  10. Spellcheck. Passed, not past. You never want your LS to be 'past'!
  11. That's not limping! Though it might BECOME limp/unuseable? Man up?.....man down!
  12. "But, darling, it was SUCH a rare/one-off bargain....." etc.? (And, why does a frying pan round the head make you limp? GO limp, maybe!)
  13. Those aren't wheels....THESE are (hub caps)....etc. (copyright Croc-Dundee) DS23 Citroen.
  14. Fold up chairs in boot, plus (craftsman-made) fold up wooden table.Hamper/coolbox. Sitting inside a car is for old infirm folk (unless it's raining, then there are these things called 'Pubs' to use?)
  15. We could form a clique? Ex-owners club. I still recognise them on the road-though a rare sight. As is my Citroen XM 3 litre car! Next? a Cube! (or original Smart Forfour!)
  16. "Factoring in" ? At £1600, a snip? was never keen on the 'two tone' look of white/silver plasic trim cars, but ....i forgot how good the Ser 2/3s look! Cruise in style for the price of a 15 yr old Corolla!
  17. On that topic (finding a good Ser 3 etc). Maybe we should set up a Club Bereavement Section, where members leave their cars to fellow members, to keep them in the aura of enthusiasts! Assuming they didn't pass away in the car crash!
  18. Stop all this gushing! You just make me regret selling my Ser 4 car! Osaka get good comments I believe, down this end of country. Also 'Gas and go' in swindon
  19. I remember a horrible scene in a film about rear facing/boot seats. Guy's children always fighting to be facing backwards. Wife drives off, kids all beaming at Dad left behind....over the hill they go. Dad Hears awful screeching of brakes and awful BANG of crash. Lorry has crashed into the rear of his car....... just the remembrance makes me shiver! Anyway. I had a (rather tatty) Citroen DS Safari for a while, with fold up rear seats. A mate borrowed it to go mountain climbing. Idiot rolled it on a mountain side -did a complete sidways roll, back onto wheels with 5 guys inside! Was OK!! I just gave him the car in the end! Oh, and David Spacewagon; nothing to fear about Citroen-I'm guessing you suffer from the myth that the suspension was dodgy? Nothing further from truth! Not only was it superb to ride on, but it was superbly engineered and failed no more than 'normal' aka inferior, suspension! (Hmm. What was this string about, again? Sorry!)
  20. I wanted a Citroen CX, or XM body, with LS 400 underpinnings! Ended up with 'just' the XM! Albeit probably the best one in UK (last ever 3Litre auto; 42K miles, full history....)
  21. Correction! Citroens look like this normally! They do sink, when parked, but at operating level, they do rise up quite a bit. (DSs/CXs/early XMs/GSAs....) My current XM stays up much longer-designed that way- but doesn't waft as much as the DSs.
  22. I do dislike 'heads up' as a phrase! American nonsense......What's wrong with good old 'warning'-or advice?
