  1. Hi The clever people will be along shortly, but in the interim, don't use a carwash if you can help it. Could someone be scratching it deliberately? Is there something that is on the seals that does it when the windows go up and down? You might want to post photos of the scratches
  2. Hi Hugh How much are you paying if you don't mind me asking? Is it time based/per panel?
  3. There are two cheap whites one available now though...
  4. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS-400-4-0-AUTO-Very-Mint-Condition-Only-31000-Miles-FSH-12-MOT-MUST-SEE-/122045615711?hash=item1c6a7c4e5f:g:~2oAAOSwyKxXh9re low mileage but one of the mots has the mileage at over 50k?
  5. Highly priced but I can imagine it's immaculate plus you'll get a full years warranty perfect for a collector I guess
  6. Thanks Steve. I've just followed a tutorial online, 30 minutes work (excluding taking out the parcel shelf, which I'm undecided on, as I can see the bolts at the top, and there seem to be a few people who have also left it in). I'm sure putting them back in will take a little longer... I'm guessing it's an hour saved at least. Point of note to anyone doing this, make sure you follow the correct tutorial for your year. On the Mk3, the bottom seat just unclips with a bit of effort front and side (check you dont drag it out, as the heated seat has a connection on BOTH sides which need disconnecting) 4 x 12mm bolts at the bottom of the backrests, 3 bolts (behind the headrest covers and armrest cover when down), and they're out enough to work on. you can also take out the belts, or remove them from the tensioner at the top if required. I also found 10p, a screw, the back of a pin and a ladybird!
  7. Does anyone have any opinons on these? http://www.autodoc.co.uk/kyb/828594 I believe they are gas only, so no springs?
  8. I spent the whole of the weekend grinning, its such a lovely car to drive However now its only a three wheeler!
  9. Looking on the other side, I think the spring has just dropped off of the lip of the strut (apologies for any incorrect terminology) - UPDATE, it's snapped, and part of the spring has stayed on the strut. Looking at Rock Auto Stuart, the rear strut inc Spring, are $70 each (I've not looked at postage prices). I can see from the video it's more labour intensive. http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/lexus,1997,ls400,4.0l+v8,1187524,suspension,strut+/+coil+spring+/+mount+assembly,15174?a=Referer+www.google.co.uk+URL+%2F
  10. Oh yes. £120 plus VAT per spring from Lexus... The guy there (who's a nice guy) asked a mechanic for a time estimate, but in 8 years he hadn't had to replace any. I guess thats more age of the vehicles rather than reliability.
  11. Thanks. Just had a quote from local garage, £120 for pair springs, and £160 for labour. both plus VAT!
  12. Just as things were going so well, the car was serviced, taxed, insured, and under a lengthly spell of wafting, i went over a speedhump today, not massively quick, and felt a definite knock. The car now appears to be listing at the right nearside, see below. Anyone care to offer their experience? I've booked it into the garage tomorrow for a once over, and I'll try to get it jacked up to look at it, if there is anything obvious. I do remember noting the spring looked very worn when I changed the wheels. UPDATE: I've just jacked it up, taken off the wheel and the spring isn't under tension or attached to anything at all, NOTE from the photos the fact that I can move it... Just called Lexus for a price for supply only for a pair
  13. Gumtree like eBay is a good site for the unscrupulous as others have pointed out there is a nice looking 93 in Bristol. Cat c but not mentioned in the listing I'd put money on this being the same, Just checked doesn't show as cat c but only registered in uk in October last year
  14. Stupid a question but do Lhd car mats for rhd cars? bell Lexus have some nice Orem ls400 grey mats
  15. I'd like to admit to being one of "them" now, just to get it out of the way.
  16. Hi John, Is this it? (click on the title within the quote)
  17. I remember seeing one at £60k plus at my local dealership. A bargain in some ways, but around here, you could also invest in a student house for that!!!
  18. Hi Malc Some of those are very high mileage (notwithstanding the fact the the engine will go on and on I'm sure) But once you've owned one a couple of years, stuck an extra few K on it, surely the market will be extremely limited? And if the hybrid system goes... I can barely change my own socks!
  19. Hi All I currently have (too many!) 16" x 7J 10 Hole MKIII wheels, with 225/65/R16 tyres Ignoring the struggle to find enough centre caps, and some of the wheels that have seen better days, and need refurbishment, I know I am limited by the front calipers, finding this out the hard way, with some of the older 8 hole alloys. The Current offset as I understand it, is 50. If I were to replace Is it as simple as finding wheels that have the same offset, and the same diameter and width? So on the wheel it would say 16 x 7J 50? I've read that the original SC430 wheels fit, but need (at least 15mm) spacers. I also saw something here when browsing mentioned OZ Opera (although they are rare, and I'm not sure if I'd still need spacers?)
  20. Hi All Assuming I replace the standard tyres with new ones, 225/65/r16, does anyone have any recommendations around make/model? On Blackcircles, Hankook Vantra RA18 seem good from a fuel/wet grip perspective. The Dunlop SP LT is more expensive by £15 per tyre I remember when swapping some tyres on my Accord recently, the fitter mentioned the difference between the db levels was negligible, but looking at the fuel rating, the £savings seem pretty big
  21. Hi Danny Check Gumtree, there are a few there. https://www.gumtree.com/search?search_category=all&q=is200+wheel&tq=%7B%22i%22%3A%22is200+wheel%22%2C%22s%22%3A%22is200+wheel%22%2C%22p%22%3A0%2C%22t%22%3A6%7D&search_location=
