  1. The thing is that this has, happened to other d4d Toyota engines and up to now no one has a solution . So I would guess Lexus /Toyota are aware of it .
  2. that's interesting as moine will go into limp mode even if i am accelerating and it is always precedes a puff of smoke, how much do you think it would cost to remap the ECU
  3. i think you are right, its because its a lexus they just make the price up, i go on the breaker link websites, just got 2 injectors for £175.00 delivered, ebayers want that per injectors. i have also bought a leak off test kit so i can check them myself lexus have not got back in touch as yet, i think they have been reading this thread..lol
  4. good luck with that , i cant believe that they have given up. Me personally i would have left the car with them until they fixed it. well that is what i will do. the only thing with the electrical problem is why does it not do it when the car is stationary. like i said mine will not go into limp mode if it is just sat revving it only does it when its moving. i have to say i don't envy you having to replace the wiring loom or are you only doing the part between the injector control unit and the injectors? enjoy the 4x4 i have shogun sport , agricultural engineering love it
  5. hi gary, i take it the latest lexus fix has proved to be unsuccessful? i am waiting for them to contact me to to arrange when they are going to do further investigation, in the mean time i have being have a bit play with the car. i have noticed that when it revs between 1000 and 1800rpm, there seems to be a slight misfire, the higher the revs go it disappears, also i can keep revs at between 2 and 3000rpm and it will not cut out as long as the engine is not under load. so i have ordered 2 injectors off ebay and will have them fitted, as they did say there was an excessive leak off on 2 injectors so that might explain the misfire at low revs and i thought it was worth a go for the sake of £400 also is there any link between the fuel system and the turbo
  6. It did as the fault code that preceded the current one was p2002 if I remember correctly . That one has not return ed . And all the warning lights cleared so I take it the Regen was completed . Also the mpg went up . Maybe the things they change tomorrow will sort the problem but I am with you they are guessing now I feel
  7. so have they returned the car to you? there may be one other thing, when the car puffs out it the grey smoke, it ususally does this just before it goes into limp mode. that i think could be an indication that car is going into regen mode, but it would be too cold to do that. however if it was opening the 5 th injector it might show a drop in fuel pressure and come up as that fault code this code appeared on mine directly after i had to do a long run to regen my DPF, so i wonder if it is a software issue ? If the ecu is still telling the car to regen what do you think?
  8. i cant believe that, but the reality is that it is temp related as if its over 10c mine does not do it, what the hell is a injector controller ? i have had a reply back from lexus and they have said they would like to do a further investigation, so i am happy for them to do that as i dont now believe that it is the pump or the injectors so i am waiting for them to get back to me and arrange it.
  9. i wonder if anyone can explain this ? if i start the car and let it run on tick over and then rev it at between 1500 and 2000 rpm it will not cut out out go into safe mode, if i then drive the car it will go a mile or less then loose power and the saga starts again. lexus say that it is either the fuel pump or the injectors, if this was a problem with pressure or the pump it would do it regardless if the car is being driven or not. but that does not happen. any ideas
  10. Maybe they are celebrating
  11. hi Carl

i hope you dont mind, but i saw your name on a thread and you may be able to help me.

i have a IS220D, that is showing a P0093 fault, when the outside temperature is cold it will go into limp mode and stall until the engine is warm, this can happen anywhere between 1 and 4 times, if it is warm outside say 10c it will be ok but occasionally pump out a little puff of blue/grey smoke, lexus have quoted me £4500 to replace 2 injectors (leak off to high) and the high pressure pump. however they have said that they cannot guarantee this will solve the problem.

At that cost the car is a write off, so i would like to do it my self, i have heard that you have changed injectors before on a lexus, was if difficult and any pointers would make a great difference

    thanks in advance

  12. hi Badger will they have to re programme the new pump or is it plug and play?
  13. its damage limitation at the moment, cost v pride
  14. if feels like it now personal , man v lexus, and at the moment it feels like its kicking my *****
  15. the anticipation is killing me
  16. thanks badger i guess by tomorrow we will know if it is the pump for sure ,,,
  17. the car wont make it that far until july... but now i have your secret to remove the bolts i will do it myself, i would just swap the engine a sell it , even if i a get a repaired one the gasket set is £100 ( according to lexus ) and then there is about £50 -£100 for injector seals and rocker gaskets, add 4 hours labour and we are near a grand already. if i DIY it still £400 - £500 and even then i might have to replace 2 injectors . rock and a hard place..
  18. you did and if this works i will be forever in your debt as i will have to go down that route. by the way i have just seen a new engine on ebay for £1300 supplied and fitted, thinking about biting the bullet and doing that, its only got 59k on it so might be able to recoup some of the loss on the car as it not worth a lot at the moment , or dont drive it until the summer when it will work ok and sell it ...lol
  19. its that supposed to be his job... is that supposed to be his job..
  20. thats interesting as they quoted me for an engine removal.... when in fact its no more than a few hours work. i sent a long email to lexus uk today, also cc in the CEO of Toyota UK
  21. hi Badger did they take the engine out? and was this a second hand pump from ebay or a new one from lexus. mine went into limp mode this morning 3 times, however the temp was 4c when it was 10c it did not do it , so it is temp related. hope it goes ok tomorrow
  22. hi Badger just seen this thread, when lexus did you SCV did they up date the ECU or did they just replace the part ? http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/165128-verso-t180-hates-cold-mornings/#comment-1367907
  23. i am going to pull the number 2 and 3 injectors and send them off to be tested and repaired, and see if that makes a difference, i guess by the time i get them back you will have had a fuel pump fitted so one of these should give a positive outcome
  24. update, took the car out this morning, it went for about 2 miles then into limp mode, reset it and took it for a run, still averaging 38mpg including b roads. left it for 5 hours took it out again, went for 3 miles before it went into limp mode, i tried to rev it and it went up to 2000rpm but it started to misfire then it cut out. restartd it and took it again for the same run 20 motorway miles and 5 B roads again 38mpg, but the low down pulling away , under 1500 rpm almost none existant , over 1500 rpm fine . there was also only a slight puff of smoke on both occasions and both before the car went into limp mode. after that no smoke. usually the low down lack of pull in the past is linked to the ERG, but i cannot see how that would cause all of the fueling problems anyone got any ideas, as in some ways the it is getting better not worse
  25. i guess that is why it would also have poor fuel economy, if it is struggling to make a vacuum when it is running it would be over fueling to compensate. like i said i will try it again in the morning and see what happens, if it stays ok a few days in a row i am taking to the auction and getting rid, as to be honest i still dont trust the car...
