The exhaust looks great! Does it sound any different to the usual IS300h?
-
You mean the TRD version? Do you have any pictures?
-
I'm not saying that I never use it- I do, but I would not say that tint on the rear windows deprives you of seeing anything in the rear view mirror- it changes nothing. Personally, I have no problems with it, and I've always had tint on my cars.
-
I've already got the rear tinted- there's no way to go without it, it my opinion. It is absolutely essential. Besides, the rear view mirror is never as important as the sides, in my opinion.
-
I've seen the rules, but it's mainly a question of how they are enforced.
-
That's fair enough- makes sense. Some people can be bothered to deal with it, others don't care as much, and that makes perfect sense.
-
Because I wanted to minimise the risk- they don't always give you points. Sometimes they just make you take the tint off on the spot. It's very simple- I'd rather have frequent police checks and have people going round with tint on their windows, than have no tint and less police presence. I don't see the point of saying why it should be allowed, because I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed in the first place. There are many more important safety checks they should consider, such as old tires on vans, and repairs. How many cabs do you see around with a cloud of smoke trailing behind them?! That's what the police should be dealing with, not window tinting, which is a minor issue. It's obvious that you are against tint, and I'm not saying we should have people going round with 5% tint on their windows, which looks like this: What I'm saying, is that some level should be made legal, such as 35%, as shown below: You can still see the face of the person, but the car will not get as hot, and it definitely looks a lot nicer this way.
-
Have you even read what you just wrote? Not allowing tints can NEVER, EVER be a REASON for not allowing them. It is the end result, not a cause. And sometimes you have to make a sacrifice. I'm no drug dealer, so, in my case, tints will not get in the way of the police. Have a look at this (USA): http://www.solargard.com/window-films/automotive/tint-laws Besides, I wouldn't call the UK cold in the summer- if anything, it's as sunny and as warm many other countries. Anyway, we'll see. Personally, I see very few downsides in having my windows tinted, so I'll probably just go ahead with it.
-
It's simple- having dark windows doesn't allow the police to see inside, and this makes crimes a lot easier, since the driver's face can't be seen in this case. However, they come up with "safety" as a reason. So, what about the other countries in the world where tint is legal? Have they, in your opinion, given up on their people? Obviously not, so it's not a valid argument. And yes, there is a certain level of risk, same as there is a certain reward that comes with tinted windows. Either way, the reason for this post was not to discuss such things, but rather to find out the level of tint the Lexus has from factory.
-
That's the thing- I don't want to follow a certain brand, and not all BMW drivers are the way they are described to be.
-
That's just hilarious. I'm guessing you don't download pirate music either? And you always wait for the green light to come on before you cross the street? Not everything that's illegal is harmful. Some things are made illegal for the benefit of the government and the system. And I always do what I want to do, instead of following the guidelines. It's the only way to live, in my opinion.

I want to make the car look nicer and I want less heat in the summer. Having tint on the rear windows but nothing in the front looks slightly weird, in my opinion. And I will totally see everything around me, because I've had a tinted car before- you should try it before criticising it, because you wouldn't be saying that if you had tried it. I see your points, but the illegality of tint is something that is very debatable. And I absolutely hate it when people start looking at you when stuck in traffic.
-
It is indeed. I don't like the look of a car that is partly tinted and partly not. And I don't use my phone in the car because I've already been fined for it. As for not wearing a seatbelt, that's not my case- I've been in two car accidents, so I always wear my seatbelt. Lastly, I'm a motorcyclist too, so I can definitely tell you that it's never about tints. Never. If people don't look in their mirrors and are not aware of other road users, tints won't make a difference. I've had a tinted car before, and, if anything, it made me use my mirrors even more often! Don't get me wrong- I understand that tints have downsides, but it's a matter of what you find to be more important.
-
Mainly because I like the style of it as well as less heat when it's sunny. Besides, I'm not looking at tints that let in just 5% of light, and 35% is more than enough- try it, and you'll see what I mean!
-
No, I mean tint- that's what they call it, and a UV blocker is entirely different. Tint doesn't have to be blacked out- it has different levels, as you probably know.
-
I had the 35% for two weeks, and then I nearly got caught, so I took it off. That said, I don't normally drive in dark areas, so the tint doesn't hurt that much, although I see your point. The 50% looks ok, but not really great for the summer? That said, it does look a lot darker on white cars.
-
My rears let in 20% of light, and I want the front to let in 35%. I think 50% is just too low and doesn't do much.
-
No, 35% of light coming through the windows. I don't mind the fact that it's illegal- very few people get points for it, so I'd rather get that. Good point about the colour of the car, by the way!
-
No, as in 35% of light coming through!
-
It depends- if I were to use 35% tint, I think it would look alright, no?
-
Have a closer look at your cars. The windows are slightly tinted, and don't look fully clear.
-
Hi everyone! I want to tint my front windows slightly, but I'm unsure of what the factory tint level is. It's important, because the police rarely interfere unless less than 30% of light comes through. I'm pretty sure, that the IS has about 20/30% tint from factory. Am I wrong?
-
The spoiler I ordered, or some other one?
-
Those look significantly better! I ordered them too.
-
I have to admit, it suits the car when it is red. Can't say the same for the white one, but that's just IMHO!
