Noticed a couple of days ago that the lovely blue Lexus sill illumination on the drivers side wasn't working. Thought it might be a bulb but checking the passenger side, that was out too. Interior lights and door puddle lights all working fine. Is this a fuse? If so, anyone know which one? Thanks guys. By no means important but like things to work if they're supposed to!

Your next car?
Brechin Slate replied to WetMyBeak's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
As a professional driver I had the opportunity to drive just about every road car made in the last 10 years. I would say that the IS 250 SE is up with the best of them at that price point and for various reasons it's the best car I've owned. The Lexus dealers are renowned for their great customer service and I won't be looking any further when I buy again. The Qashqai? Are you sure? The Nissan dealers themselves admit (privately) that they are often embarrassed to sell them, especially the first series. I've yet to meet a pro driver who has bought one. In the end though, it's down to personal choice but I always remember the equation: Satisfaction = Experience - Expectation If you do go for the CT200h, please write a review for us and let us know how the car is from an owners perspective. Personally I'm looking at the RC300h. -
Unfortunately didn't get the discount but glad to get it sorted. Once the slow cranking started, it went downhill pretty fast but it starts immediately now. I think it may have been the original battery, if so it's done 10 years so owed nobody anything! Car sailed through the MOT yesterday which I have done at Westover Lexus in Poole.

This was a timely thread for me! My 56 plate IS250 was having trouble cranking in the cold mornings, I put it down to lots of short journeys with lights and heating on. I charged the battery overnight but it wasn't much better and my wife called yesterday to tell me that she was stuck in Tesco's car park as the car wouldn't start. She called the RAC and declined the offer of a new battery(!) but I got there before they did and the car started....just. This morning I bought a Bosch battery as in the thread above and fitted it, straightforward job but when I came to take the old one out, it was so hot I could barely touch it and it was fizzing like a glass of Alka Seltzer. The old battery was a Panasonic 80D26L-MF. Anyway, all good now, I'm hoping that the battery just had an internal short. There were no fuses blown and no warning lights in the car. Electrolyte levels were above minimum in each cell but I might just top it up when it cools down and do a slow recharge to see if I can keep it for emergency use only. MOT tomorrow.....

I had something similar on the drivers side not long after I bought my car. I took off the door card and looked inside, nothing, taped things down, no better. Checked the door seals and sprayed them with silicone lube, no better. In the end I deduced it was the door itself moving ever so slightly and that the rattle was coming from the catch and striker plate, well, actually a U shaped chrome bar. As a proof of concept, I took some silver gaffer tape and wrapped the striker ring, just a few turns, enough to take up about 1-2mm of play. Result, perfect, silence once again. Hope it works for you.

Opinions!

Gilding the lily springs to mind. Not to my taste. I think that the Lexus designers created a thing of beauty but then again I don't think the Mona Lisa would look better with a drawn on moustache... -
Hi Silent bull. I used to live very close to where you've mentioned, it is the Royal Military Academy (RMA) and therefore security is an issue. You'll probably hear no more about it as civilian vehicles are in and out of there all day long for various reasons. As an example, my daughter in law keeps her horse there and has no connection with the Army. You will have been recorded and, if your activity was regarded as suspicious, vehicle checks will have been done via the DVLA. If you've heard nothing yet then you're unlikely to but please be careful, the security staff are armed and many of the civilian guards are ex Gurkhas!

Isopropyl alcohol is fine and won't damage your paint. May as well give it the clay bar treatment while you're at it 😊

Towing Eye
Brechin Slate replied to Brechin Slate's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Perfect, Steve, thanks. Could you email me please on mike.stevenson@virgin.net Cheers -
I very nearly needed my towing eye to get pulled out of a post-festival muddy field on Sunday. Rooted around in the boot and quickly discovered that I'd overlooked it when I bought the car. You can hardly blame me, the excitement of getting behind the wheel blotted pretty much everything else at that time! I've seen a few on eBay but wondered if the IS250 is a specific length and thread size or if there is a generic alternative. I'm loathe to pay £34 for something that I may never ever see again, never mind use.... Thanks guys.
