  1. Took a look at the 2 GS models, very nice and certainly tempting but having found the car that ticked all the boxes on my wish list I'm not going to be swayed. If they were in the same branch of the dealership then I'd take a look but the Premier spec one is 276 miles further north! Shame, I would have liked a test drive 😀
  2. I have used Lexus Poole for the past 5 years for my 2007 is250 and can't praise them highly enough. I've used them for servicing, MOT and repairs. Luke on reception is polite and respectful as well as knowledgable. I made a sales enquiry there once when I was thinking of a new vehicle and although we didn't go through to closing, the same level of service and respect was there. I'll continue to use them even though it's a 2 hour round trip. Hope this helps.
  3. Good advice, I did the check a few weeks ago and mine falls into the £140 category. Interesting to see that some sellers still advertise their cars at the £20 tax rate when it changed years ago. As a matter of interest, which levels of IS 300h fall into the higher bracket? Takumi? Ones with every extra?
  4. 😀Possibly the same ones fitted to the BMTroubleyou. Maybe they work off the old Lucas 3 position light switch - Dim, Flicker and Off
  5. I've only gone and done it! After years of umming and ahhing I've finally bought (subject to test drive) a replacement for my amazing is250. 3 year old Premier in Mesa Red with sandstone leather interior. The car is 137 miles away so I needed to be sure I wasn't going to have a wasted journey, I asked the company for a detailed video and we did the negotiations over the phone. Looking forward to picking it up on Thursday and then picking your collective brains as I need to know more. 6. Hi, same model as you, mines is Jan 2007. Neither of those features are on my car. You also have to press a button to fold the mirrors! Hope this helps.
  7. Grrr, no test drive now til Boris gives the thumbs up so likely to be Dec 3rd. Is there a level of impatience above waiting for a new car? At least I've got a bit of time to tart up the is250 so the next owner sees his/her new Lexus in the best light 🙂
  8. Very helpful, thanks 👍
  9. Hi Mikey Thanks, seen both of those and made an enquiry about the one in Leicester. Could meet them half way so we'll see how it goes...
  10. Nice car, thanks for the details but the Mesa Red is a deal breaker. Turns out I can't have a test drive until after Lockdown II so still have (enforced) time to keep looking. Regards Mike
  11. Impatience has got the better of me! Struggling to find the colour and trim at the right price point in a RX 450h so sticking with the is range and test driving a 300h on Thursday. Not viewing it as 2nd best as I was on a knife edge between the 2 but I can get the colour, trim, mileage and price and still be in a high quality Lexus. Very much appreciate all the help and advice 👊
  12. The time has come to say goodbye to my ultra reliable is250 and say hello to a 2017 (facelift) 300h Premier. Test drive is Thursday morning, Lexus main dealer, what do I need to look out for guys? Any specific questions I should ask before the haggling starts? Mike
  13. Hi Razor Mine is a 56 plate, January 2007 SE L. No satnav or reversing camera, no ML audio but just about every other extra including rear window blind, hated wiper blade screen zone etc. Mine has 162,000 miles on the clock, runs like a dream, is ultra reliable but only has a private sale value of GBP 2k. I'm in a similar position to you but looking for an RX 450h. Hope this helps.
  14. Thanks so much for your help and comments so far guys. Management has chosen the colour so I can't move on that but it seems I may have to up the budget a bit. I had no idea that the Mesa Red colour had been skipped for one generation, thanks for that info too. The search goes on..
  15. Hi all The time has come to sell my ageing but still reliable is250 and buy my first hybrid. All research done, I'm now in the market for an RX 450h in Mesa Red with a cream/ivory interior. Budget around GBP 20k. If you come across anything like this, I'd be grateful if you would message me. Many thanks Mike
  16. Can anyone please tell me where this part is from on my is250? Found it in the glove compartment, wife denying all knowledge but it wasn't there last time I looked!
  17. Hi folks Is Mesa Red now discontinued as a colour for the is 300h and if so, what is the latest registration to be available in this colour? Promised my wife a used one but not yet looking at anything over 3 years old.

  19. Quick update. Both rear tyres had a few hundred miles left in them but I decided to change them now rather than risk forgetting later. Fitted Bridgestones as that is what my Lexus dealer put on the front last year. Problem has now disappeared. I would like to have had a close look at the old tyres but my wife took it to the tyre fitters so missed the chance. Thanks for replies 👍👍
  20. Hi all Driving along a new stretch of super smooth motorway the other day at low speed due to traffic. The car was rolling as if one or more wheels was oval, very bouncy and very un Lexuslike. Jacked each wheel in turn and checked wheel bearings and for running true, checked tyre pressures and wheel nuts but at a loss. Any ideas from you gurus? Regards Mike
  21. All done. In the end there were 2 compressors to choose from both by Denso and I bought the wrong one, schoolboy error. Apart from them looking very different the price is different too, £285 v £355, Mine is the expensive one! Independent garage near Ringwood did evacuation, compressor change, regas and test for £140. All good now but I'm £1600 lighter after that and the MOT, that's nearly the value of the car!
  22. I've bit the bullet and am paying a local (ish) garage to do the evacuation, compressor swap, recharge and test. £168 in total. Car goes in next Thursday. I'll report back.
  23. I had thought about that but want to minimise the hassle. Since being lured back into full time work I'm shorter on time than I used to be. I've had one quote of £160 so far for all the work, I'll see what else comes in today.
