  1. Many thanks to leelacey17 for the Kraftex tip. The 2 cracks can be seen in the first pic below and the repair in the second pic. The IPA dried out the vinyl but a bit of post repair care tomorrow should make it look good again.
  2. And if you're looking for a petrol one, see my ad on this forum 🤣
  3. Just bought an IS 300h so my much loved 2007 is250 has got to go. I'll advertise it in the For Sale section once my Gold Membership has been approved but please message me if interested in the meantime Lexus for sale.docx
  4. Had a few hours on my hands between showers today so opened up a can of whup ***** and did a bit of tidying under the bonnet. No special cleaning stuff used, just a fine finishing pad, toothbrush, a damp rag and some paint I found in the garage. Not concours but good for a 3 year old car that has always lived by the seaside. Waiting for the ACF-50 to arrive so I can give everything a mist coat.
  5. Hi all This has probably been covered before but I can't find it searching the forum. During cold weather, first start of the day, I engage D or R and it takes a while before I get drive to the wheels. The engine revs increase in response to the throttle but I don't go anywhere for about a minute. Seems strange that you have to let a modern (2007) car warm up. I'm guessing it's something to do with the viscosity of the transmission fluid but happy for any insight/guidance. 2007 is250, petrol, auto gearbox
  6. Beautiful car but the money burned a hole in my pocket and I went for a 2017, 14k miles, Mesa Red is 300h Premier. I'm not one bit disappointed though!
  7. Thanks guys, it's going to get a proper sorting, the rest of the car is immaculate, I'm not going to let this detract from the overall condition. May as well do the is250 at the same time, someone will be a lucky new owner 👍🙂
  8. ACF-50 now ordered, thanks for the tip 👍
  9. Yep, Torpoint in Cornwall and I am 70 yards from the sea so lots of protection and care needed like I did with my is250
  10. Hi all Picked up my new car last week and now doing some detailing. Surprised to see minor corrosion under the bonnet of a 3 year old, 14k mile car. Is this unusual? Anyone experienced the same. Please see pics. All easily corrected but maybe a result of aggressive cleaners and poor rinsing/drying. The strut tops are particularly disturbing. The one former owner was a lady school teacher who apparently never lifted the bonnet! Regards to all.
  11. Thanks for the quick replies. I like the mat idea as it's no work and a good result, I'll check the sizes tomorrow. If it doesn't cover the crack on the contours I'll go down the kraftex route.👍
  12. Hi all I'm selling my is250 but want to do a few jobs first to ensure it's presented in the best possible light. One of my issues is a 4 inch crack in the vinyl above the radio. Has anyone had a similar problem and successfully filled/repaired it? There are various vinyl repair kits on the market but as usual with very mixed reviews. Regards to all.
  13. You definitely need it, it's not just anti freeze, it's also a corrosion inhibitor. I don't have my owners manual to hand to tell you which is the best one for your engine but I'm sure someone will dive in before I get hold of it.
  14. That's a pretty good example of Charles's Law right there 👍
  15. Couple of things on the learning curve 24 hours in. I had a tyre pressure warning light this morning, they all looked ok so I popped down the local filling station to check the pressures. A couple were at 34 psi instead of 36, that's a pretty sensitive sensor! 2nd gulp was my wife telling me that only one reversing light was working. The is250 has two but a quick bit of research showed me that the 300h looks like it has 2 but one is a fog light. Every day is a school day 🙂. Ordered some Gtechniq C5 for the wheels and looking forward to a clear dry day to give it a wash and polish, I'll probably do a ceramic coat next spring. A few stone chips need looking at and there's a touch up kit in the glove compartment. Apart from that all good, I might be quiet for a couple of days, I'll be out driving..
  16. Worth a read, it might help narrow it down: https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t42117_ds872244
  17. Is it just the radio or all audio inputs?
  18. I drove in Eco mode, combination of dual carriageways, a short motorway section, major A roads and local roads with fairly heavy traffic. Didn't go above 80, cruised at 70 with ACC on. A few hilly sections stuck behind a lorry where I was down to 30. I couldn't floor it as my wife was following me, no satnav in the is250. I'll have a few drives in Normal and Sport and see how it compares although I guess most members already know their numbers.
  19. Bugger! It's the gift that goes on giving. Picked the car up today, just got home after the 140 mile drive, I think I might be smiling for a few days yet. Averaged 52.5 mpg. Drove there in my 2007 is250 and averaged 34.2. I can see where the chocolate money is going to come from!
  20. Hi Mike, yep, I took a look before I completed the negotiations. For a few minutes I was very disappointed but then realised that if I wanted the particular spec I was after then there was nowhere to go except my wife's piggy bank. Although the extra £300 a year for the next 2 years is a sting, I did get what I wanted, I think economists call it the opportunity cost. The flowers and chocolates as a peace offering are going to cost me a lot more than that in the long run! 😬
