  1. I've just been offered a swap for what sounds like a nice mk3. Is there much difference between a 3 and a 4
  2. Same as my mx5 though a bad one is worth peanuts and my good one about 3.5k. All depends how they've been treated
  3. Your more patient than iam. I would have taxed it. Our family volvo is going soon. I'd be tempted into an lpg one of these. Maybe a bit big fir everyday use though
  4. It's staying there. It's a scrapper. He was honest though. When I said I wanted it for me he said don't bother.
  5. Well I'm sitting outside his house waiting for the owner. It's looks pretty rough. 4 flat tyres on dhp wheels. Broken wing mirror glass. A fair few dings. It's done 170 k. Owners has it 12 years. Not been used for over a year. He said on the phone he'll take 600 for it. What yous think. I dont know if I can be bothered
  6. It will do when I tell the wife
  7. I've just bought an ls sight unseen pretty cheap that's not been used for a while. The joys of ebay and being bored at work
  8. Hi. I'm hoping you still use the forum. I recently bought an is300 off of Stuart. And hes got your old is I could have too. I know it's a cheek but have you any service history books or any other paperwork. Also was it driving ok prior to the accident as im considering getting back on the Rd. Any info would be great. Also my number is 07736323201 if that helps. Thanks. John

Hi John, not sure if Stuart told you but the IS300 belonged to a man over the road from me but he could not use the internet so I was the go between. As far as paperwork I would have thought Archie, the owner would have given Stuart all the paperwork. Archi was very careful with his cars so I imagine he would have it serviced and checked yearly. Indeed he also did repairs on it as he was car mad owning several Gilburn sports cars. I bought a Nissan 300NX off him and the manual even recorded the mileage he moved the wheels round to get the best out of his tyre wear. As far as the Lexus is concerned It was running perfect when he ran into the back of a stationary lorry at 15 MPH. We anticipated repairing it but he decided to buy another Lexus. I think Stuart had it for the wheels as they were in excellent condition. I know the engine and gearbox were excellent and providing it hasn't been run should be OK.  The boot lift assist had gone so we put a single strut in off a ford fusion as a Lexus unit was over £100.

Sorry cant help anymore, ask Stuart about the paperwork and if he hasn't got it I will ask Archie if he's still got it.

      Jim

That's great. Stuart did say the previous owner couldn't find it. I didn't know anything about a go between otherwise I wouldn't have bothered you. I was hoping may have turned up. Seems a shame to have it just sitting there.  Started fine when I bought Stus one off of him

  9. Does anyone know where the paint code is on an is300 please
  10. It may be the light but both doors look different to the front and back of the car
  11. That's odd. My neighbours just bought one of those. Funny little cars
  12. She's ok. I must admit the ls is completely impractical and I've only used it once. But I sat in it last night and it's a lovely old thing. Bit like the Mrs actually
  13. To be honest I'm under pressure from the Mrs to sell something. My thoughts were if I could get the ls430 very cheap I could tinker with it and still keep my mk1 mx5 which I love, then sell the ls400.
  14. After knocking and seeing the owner. The cars not for sale. It looked pretty rough anyway. After reading all this I wouldn't have touched it anyway. Thanks all
  15. Following on from my topic regarding the LS430 I've seen sitting. I've done an mot check on it and it comes back that in 2014 it had serious leaking front shocks. But last year it only had light misting. Is this a big job on these to replace. Is it to do with the air suspension. The car does look a bit unloved
  16. I had the eml light come on in a saab 9-5 aero.i read up and there were mentions of a fuel cap seal
  17. Never know. Can be a bit rough around here
  18. There's a dark red ls430 near me that's seems to have been sitting a while. It's got a scrape on the rear arch and door. I'm wondering whether it's been written off. Is it a bit of a cheek to put a note through the door to see if its up for sale.
  19. Thanks steve. I thought I'd read somewhere that you can't tow with an is sportscross
  20. My brothers looking for another car to use for towing and has commented on maybe having my ls400 for it. Are these suitable for a tow bar. Or if not what about my is300 sportscross
  21. Focus. That's just showing off
  22. Been on go compare and found some almost half price. Even admiral were 200 cheaper on there.
  23. I will. I bought the ls to replace my eunos . But cant bring myself to sell it. Hence why I'm not prepared to pay to much on the ls
