  1. No . First thing I checked . Weird as a saab 95 aero same year would be higher to tax
  2. Going to look tomorrow. 05 3litre auto r. Done 170k though. £1000
  3. Have been looking at one of these as a temporary replacement for the family volvo. It's a 3l auto r whatever that is. It's done big miles. Anyone any experience with such a thing
  4. I could live without it because at the moment it's not our only car. But when we sell the family volvo to buy my wife her new driving instructor car it will be. I'm torn between getting all the bits done or just moving it on. I'm not worried about having a go at changing the condenser as I'm used to bolts snapping .my project car is a mk1 mx5
  5. If the mileage had been tampered with why would you changed it from 30 odd k to 50 something then through following year back down to 30 odd again. Couldn't it be just a mistake when the car was mot was filled in. Old baz is interested apparently
  6. Well I'll change condensor first .what can go wrong. It leaks anyway
  7. Looks straightforward. Would I have to add the pag oil .being as I'd be getting it regassed by a company. He sounds like micky mouse
  8. Going to go for condenser change first. Hope it's straight forward
  9. You sound like my wife. Still considering buying a parts car
  10. He showed me the dye which was around the bottom of the condenser and pretty much all over the compressor. Spots on pipework all around . Do you think it could have been blown back from condenser by air from driving . Or would the rad stop it reaching the compressor. I'm tempted to change condensor first and see what happens. Didn't you say you changed a compressor on yours though
  11. I tried to buy a van last week . Ad says 91k mot check said 180. Van was very cheap. Silly things is if he'd had it up for what it would have been worth at 91k some people may not have bothered checking .I would because I trust no one when it comes to cars now days
  12. That'll be me out then. I'll have a garage with a lift one day. But to work on my mx5 not a bloody great ls. Starting to wonder whether I should have got a parts car now or just not bother putting things like this right. They're lovely cars but they all seem to suffer the same faults eventually.
  13. I did say to the garage I'm sure I can source them cheaper. And they said they'll fit them . Is it a pig of a job to fit a compressor. Looks like it could be a rad out job. If so I'd probably do that at same time
  14. Just had it confirmed . Leaky compressor and condenser. Parts total was over 1200. Anyone ever changed them . Either using a garage or diy. Not afraid of having a go myself but the garage said something about putting special oil in the compressor. Starting to lose the love
  15. I like mint cars but why would you pay that when you'd probably get a very very good one for 2-3 k.
  16. Just a heads up. If your interested in the one on Gumtree for 900 I'd think hard before you bother. Went to look today on the basis I'll give it to the wife as a stop gap car then strip it or swap bits of need for mine. It's very scruffy but what's worse is it runs like a pig. Shame considering its got fsh. Very high spec though. With TV screens at the bottom of the front seats with pull down shutters to hide them . Had some other buttons on the door panel on the left I didn't recognise. Shame because it must have cost a bomb new

  18. That description could be me. He did try to buy one off of me. Didn't offer me enough and to be honest was a bit of a pain. Why doesn't just be honest and say I like buying cars more than I do owning them instead of all the wedding bumf. I've been known to buy a car and put it up for sale the next day. At a loss of might add. I think my ls430 is a keeper .(Better be I'm looking for a parts car)
  19. No way. I saw that . Well over priced. Says he's not a dealer but didn't he have a poor specced silver one the other day too.
  20. I know these cars can rake up big mileage but is it hard to sell a high mileage , I mean 200k and above ls430. As long as it's running ok and priced right
