  1. Is that carbon vinyl on your console? or you recently changed to IS-F? Looks good - I was never fan of wood trim.
  2. That is my point. I wouldn't want to upset sensors.. I guess any other power source is fine, but not sensors.. because they might be very sensitive to voltage changes etc. Though as Garry reports it works this way - I wouldn't be confident it is the case for all DVRs (especially higher end and more power hungry)..
  3. As long as tires are worn evenly, there should be no issue on alignment side. as other said 46psi are very high pressure. I don't know where the figure came from, but standard is 35 for front and 38 for rear. I found this pressure too low and it was causing outside wear for my tires, which would indicate too low pressure (usually run Dunlop sportmaxx). After replacing all tires I have now inflated front to 38psi, rears to 40psi, which I found as a good balance between wear, fuel economy and comfort. Rear tires were replaced 12k miles ago and worn just about 2mm, which I consider very good wear. Now the reason of excessive wear could be very high pressure (46psi), or maybe batch of tires, maybe they were old batch? I believe you referring to Ventus S1 evo 2 as there are no such tires as Evo S2 http://www.hankooktire.com/uk/passenger-cars/hankook-ventus-s1-evo2-k117.html That said I would point out that even Hankook list they wear as below average (See performance/wear - 4/10). Together with over inflation I guess that is your answer. Hope you going to get better wear on new set. Good luck!
  4. As other I is good to hear that no one injured, though still quite sad to see the car being written-off - especially such good example. Hope insurance going to come up with reasonable figure.
  5. That is the reason for my question, because those sensors are know for being quite sensitive (I guess that is the point of sensor). I don't see how aux can provide enough power for DVR... many of which uses 5V 1A (the least) power. Unless you mean aux as cigarette lighter.
  6. What about local lift? aka Taxi on behalf of Lexus? or assuming you taking train, why not pick-up and drop-off service? At least I hope buses in your place are less disgusting as ones in London.
  7. That is interesting read... It is funny enough I have just got invitation to BMW show sometime in July which includes test drive i8 and dinner, even though I have never spent a penny on BMW in UK, only had subscribed for their newsletters online (kind of opposite from you). I cannot say I spent a lot on my Lexus in this country, nor I am regular customer at Lexus Woodford (though one time there was enough for me - was actually horrible). I don't remember any communication from dealer in my country either (were I bough new IS 250 f-sport .. back in 2012). I do believe different dealers does things differently and it might be that only Woodford is so bad. I would like to believe other dealerships are better, sadly only other dealership close to me is South-end and it doesn't work on Saturdays, which is very inconvenient. That said, I believe this is exactly the problem - I expect uniform service from any Lexus dealership as reps of the marque, even if I am not regular customer there.. they represent manufacturer and if I get crap service, that might result in me going with other manufacturer. Lucky for Lexus I know their cars and would but them regardless of the dealership experience. I guess I cannot make any opinion before visiting few other dealer, but for sure if somebody asks me - Woodford is the one to avoid. Else I might be not the target customer (too young).. I believe for Lexus as well as for Porsche the target market is 40+ males.. That would at least explained why I am not invited to the midlands party ( but I guess many other are not invited as well)...
  8. While I believe this is relief for many IS220d owners and generally for diesel owners. I just wanted to point out that DPF is there of one solid reason - diesel cars are not very - lets say "clean". That means DPF is needed to stop poisonous and deadly pollutants to get out of the car and kill me, you, my family and all other strangers who are unfortunate to be near the exhaust pipe of vehicle which have DPF "deleted". That said I strongly believe such changes should be very least banned or even punished. Similar story goes for Catalyst converters "deletion". Now the reason I post is not to ruin your day or celebration of the discovery. I know how much problems DPF and ERGs made to IS220d and other later diesel car owners. Instead I would like to see someone to come up with the facts and maybe prove me wrong (hopefully). Until then, I do believe it is immoral to drive the car which pollutes more for some limited personal benefit.
  9. I would guess maybe windshield was replaced ? A lot of problems on IS250/220d after windshield replacement, so I believe IS-F no different here. Check for related topics..
  10. In fact I would be surprised if they were to wire it all the way to engine compartment and fuse box. It can be simply tucked to cigarette lighter loop under the dash (again sounds more likely than wire to engine compartment). Otherwise, there might be some wiring already the cabin, which was designed to accommodate some kind of accessories and it was matter just to add fuse to that particular the loop. There are quite a few unused fuse sockets however it is hard to tell which of those are can actually enable existing loop.. One thing I am sure - they do not take wire all the way from cabin to engine compartment..
  11. Yeah... I guess I need to take a note of the date, to make sure I avoid the area... otherwise looking to all those IS-F might drive me mad.
  12. under the bonnet :D There are 2 fuse boxes on the left (right hand side while looking from front of the car). One box is just net to battery, and another one is behind the cover in front of the first one.
  13. That won't be too embarrassing I guess.. I somehow need to commit myself to sell IS250 and add the sum towards IS-F... Getting increasing jealous.
  14. I went for a second option - got used part from low mileage car, got it refurbished and all in all costed me £310. Must admit took me 2 weeks and a bit of trouble, but I guess it was worth savings. I guess if my car would have been like 60k mileage, I would have gone the same way, but with 150k + I didn't found it reasonable to put new compressor which would probably outlast the car. In another hand was your compressor actually faulty or it was just a clutch pulley ?
  15. I do a lot of short journeys and even longer ones ~15 miles to work and back are usually poisoned with heavy traffic, but my average as well improved from 26.4 to 27.7 now... Last 3 tanks were ~29.5 and would say I am averaging at ~28. Furthermore, it is not unusually for me to see orange tacho light.. little bit rarer red.. A/C is as well always on... The main trick employ weight of the car (IS250 is heavy) and try to never ever use brake pedal. In the high speed it is usually economical to drive up to ~80 after that mpg starts to drop. I can imagine IS250c is joy to drive in country side (jealous).
  16. Camera uses so little battery, that it would takes weeks to run down you car battery. If you that worried I would suggest to get battery pack ... like 20000mah ~£18 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/20000mAh-Portable-External-Charging-Technology/dp/B0183K0GZC/ref=sr_1_25?srs=2323115031&ie=UTF8&qid=1465547984&sr=8-25). Such battery would last for a month for dashcam and if you use car regularly - forever. Additionally, if place and wired well you will get bonus on quick charge for phones,GPS etc..
  17. I have seen quite a few cars actually looking cool with rim protectors e.g. white MB C63 AMG with white or red protection. Usually if protectors matches car or rims colour they don't look very stupid. But if you put red or yellow ones on otherwise stock black IS250... it without doubt will look silly.
  18. My recall is due 20th of June so I don't know. They said they will need my car for 1,5h to do inspection and to replace sensor and gasket. Because it is on Monday I have agreed to leave car in the morning and pick it up in the evening and they will provide courtesy car for the day. The story with aircon compressor happened last month when I was doing annual service, at the time I was doing service they noted recall is coming up, but they don't have parts and cannot do it yet. I got assumption they didn't have sensors, because assistant mentioned - "this time different parts will be changed, compared with previous recalls and not only gasket as before" .
  19. Don't want to scare you, but Lexus Woodford marked my aircon "green" and it failed 3,5 miles from the dealer on my way home - compressor completely stuck and cut ignition from engine while driving. Compressor needed replacement. I would take their reports carefully... it means at the moment it works... but as soon as you drive off it might fail. In other hand I am not sure what is better - to pick up the parts which are fine and try to cash on every occasion (like John reported with calipers), or miss nearly failing parts... like your pump or my compressor.
  20. There are protective rings, which takes damage instead of rim - but they look bit childish for me (like additional wheels on bicycle :D). Tires with rim protection are little help. My tires has it, but it is more protection from potholes rather than kerb. To be honest I haven't kerbed my wheels on the actual kerbs when parking for a while, but I have few ridiculous 6"6' (2.01m) narrow gates on my way, and sometimes when people park car nearby the gate it becomes very challenging task... Narrow gates must be banned as unsafe in my opinion - they add little value as traffic calming feature, just damages the cars and local councils seems to use them as solution for everything, regardless it makes sense or not..
  21. I wouldn't be able to manage that.... refusing IS-F is not an easy task...
  22. They did... maybe not one from GS 450h, but there are certainly RC 350 over the pond. Sadly it will never make to this side (same as IS350 or AWD).
  23. Yes. I am sure they will be fine - as you say you can return them anytime. As well if you read description - it says: "packing might be damaged, minor scratches" ... definitely, doesn't sound like "used". You got bargain here. As for impressions, I would set the expectations quite low - the best you can expect less dust and maybe better wear/longevity. I doubt of any increase in stopping power. ... and good luck in Le Mans!
