  1. I might be worried more about that, then a stretch. Stretched ones won't rub and wider ones without stretch might (not saying they will, but it is more risky.. then getting right width alloys at the firs place). I really like look though, sadly they don't do "gun metal" option.
  2. As far as I can see - widths available are 8.5 and 9.5 which are respectively 0.5 and 1 inch wider than stock. If you asking if they fit - yes they will. They will accept the stock tires as well with noticeable stretch (will look more similar like ones on Golf5 from your link). And probably will not rub arches as well. However, they will not be as stocks are. If wider/stretched looks is what you after, then it is fine... otherwise look for 8 and 8.5 respectively for front and rear.
  3. It should be £235 with VAT, based on essential care prices (check Lexus website). When I asked for battery in Lexus Woodford they quoted me £141.98 (for IS250), but later said they will honor Lexus official pricing £95. I wonder how it is different from 2007 GS? Because battery for 2007 would be £95.
  4. If the chrome is good condition it will be same after peeling the wrap of..
  5. The chrome will not be affected... it actually can be used to protect paint (as any other film). It is easy to peel if you have applied enough layers. I believe 3-4 are recommended. Check youtube - there are a lot of video and tutorials, it is much easier to apply than actual paint and most importantly you always have option to go back to what you started with.
  6. Pastidip (or similar products) would be much easier to apply than vinyl. Actually, I don't think it would be possible to cover the lamp inside with vinyl. The question is - what about heat? would Plastidip hold it (or even a paint)? Have you considered that Xenons get hot?
  7. If you are after cost cutting why to drive Jaguar or Lexus? People buying Armani suits and Rolex'es not to save money are they? I might be wrong, but I will never understand the logic behind LPG. Why not to use cheapest Oil, Unbranded tires or get yourself dacia or fiat? Today seen Porsche Cayenne GTS (4.5l V8 Turbo) with LPG... what a fake! My first mind was - "What are you trying to pretend"?!
  8. This topic came just in time for me - was looking for good Front + Rear dashcam with 2 main focuses - quality of video and discreet looking. Don't want any bulky, flashy, toy looking monster which looks like it is about to transform to Megatron. Really, the only difference between expensive and cheap systems are low light quality. In the bright daylight even £20 camera will provide decent video quality. I have identified some potential candidates however still struggling to commit ~£200 on decent camera. So far have tried several apps on smartphones, but there are several issues with using smartphone as DVR. Have used spare Samsung Galaxy S2/S5 for this purpose (1080p@60fps and as well capable of taking 720p@30fps on secondary camera/ S5 can do 4k@30fps front and 1080p@30fps rear simultaneously). Not exactly F+R, but if well positioned can show quite a lot of details from the rear. Video quality is excellent and can as well be used as GPS and even ODB2 display at the same time while recording. The problems starts with DVR apps - none of apps can take full resolution video phones are capable of, nor use the feature of simultaneous recording, furthermore the are impacting otherwise excellent video quality. Even without these issues, phones are not exactly good for longer trips - camera sensors starts overheating after 30 minutes. Finally, the biggest issue of all - they need to be removed after trip and hidden somewhere, then again set-up before driving -> that is main deal breaker. So that said was looking to discrete looking DVR system which can be let in the car (some even have parking mode - so you can see who bumped in you car while parked... or "key-ed" it). Few cameras not mentioned herefor your interest: KOONLUNG K1S - looks complicated, but what is really left visible are 2 little cameras which kind of the point. Video quality is very good (based on few reviews). VicoVation Marcus 5 dual - one of the best video quality, however expensive and the front camera rather big. Thinkware F750 - one of the best built quality (parking more and many more extras). I know BlackVue is one of decent options, thought mixed reviews. Would be interesting to know if anyone have installed any of above, or have any other recommended options.
  9. Bluesman is showing example of positive attitude and knowledge (by deleting posts which are not in personal interest of his own).
  10. I would double on that - you have a right to return it. OK this is withing their tolerances, not your - it doesn't meet your purposes (quite frankly if it is leaking while being power-washed). And based on that you can well reject it.
  11. Nice style, thought I don't see 18x8 as an option. That said 8.5 are no good on front - you would be better of with all 18x8 (rear being narrower than original), than with 8.5 on front (which will be too wide). In other had if you stick with standard tires it would make front to be slightly stretched. That said it probably won't rub archesin fron, but will look little bit weird. Cannot advise on ET (it is a bit of mysterious setting for myself).
  12. To Summarise: Spent £90 on used compressor £90 on refurbishment £80 for fitting/leak check £50 for gas and oil Total of £310... which is funny enough is exactly 50% off the new replacement. My compressor is properly stuck and at this point I cannot get £50 refund for "core", but might spend some time trying to un-stuck it which will bring additional saving.
  13. Rear lamp conversion prices are mental.. that is the reason why I left mine "as is". No matter which option you take. I personally wanted original "facelifted" lamps, which are ~£600, the fake looking Chinese or the ones completely custom are the cheapest option ~£300. And there is as well option of "ISF" lamps (white indicators) which are like £400 (OEM) and £200 (fake) for outer bits only (the ones on the boot lid are the same anyway). So to conclude $500 (£300) is the correct starting price - you won't get them any cheaper. Personally, I have though this is too expensive for such small modification and left it alone.
  14. So that's for front... What about rear? they should be 18x8.5 "to look right".
  15. Rubbish ... In a way that I was in fact right saying LPG is impossible/unpractical on IS250, because of DI+ECU combination? You can consider the rest of my post about "fishy LPG" off-topic. Whenever, I was right or wrong there - you are only contributing to off-topic and not to main question - so (I guess) not exactly adding value here...
  16. Maybe lets stop pretending someone here are converting to LPG to improve performance or save environment - the goal is quite clear - SAVE MONEY... It is self-defeating to discuss this on Lexus forum, because the brand itself was not set-up for saving money... So wise advice would be - if you want to save money don't buy Lexus (or Jaguar, or Lamborgini).. Fitting LPG in Lexus sounds extremely pointless. As I have explained previously, DI is not the only problem... More problematic is ECU which controls both injection and valve timing. If you add LPG the system would go completely bonkers... Lexus IS250 is not on the list for good reason. And anyways it is not like fuel hungry, or would benefit significantly from LPG... that's not LS400 with engine from 1988 (Mike)
  17. Previous owner thought that different tires on the front are OK as well... so £40 for tracking seems unbelievable investment. Great to know you solved it, and we were pointing to right direction...
  18. I haven't switched from LS to IS, but my current IS is 3rd to me. I had MB C350 4matic (2010) and BMW 328xi (2012) in between and IS just seems so much better polished car. Great car choice... hope you going to enjoy it for long time..
  19. Exactly.. and thanks for ahmedali44 for summarysing it for us: This sounds about right - I would trust system for £8k... but that is more than reasonable IS250... so not exactly "saving".. certainly not on 66k miles
  20. I believe one does not need to set himself on fire to "have a clue" how it feels. Same with LPG... why do I need to try something which I know is wrong.
  21. Never felt so low to own LPG car... Lets say... I am enjoying the moments when I fill my tank with petrol and is part of ownership experience.. Sniffing LPG and fiddling with refill valves + caring tank with explosives instead of spare tire would ruin it.. Would even take IS220d (I know!) any day over IS250 LPG.. thanks God it is not possible...
  22. I would expect to hear some kind of knocking sound... One question - are you sure you need to replace engine? Or the price of chain replacement is so much that you looking for engine instead? - I am pretty sure IS250 engine pistons have cuts for valves and therefore even after chain snaps they shouldn't get damaged. The rest shouldn't have been damaged either as engine would have stalled immediately. So I guess worse case scenario - new chain, timing gear and chain cover if it was damaged.. I was referring to dealer prices.. As for parts - chain alone is like £650 (11310-31042) and I guess you would need few other bits and ~8 man hours: Edit: Sorry, the chain part code 13506-31020 ~ and price in a range of £200-300 for genuine part. I wouldn't consider cheap ones for £143, considering how difficult and expensive is to replace it. I guess it still put this fix in £1000+ price bracket.
  23. I don't think were at the same page Mike... you are talking about what it could or should be, I am talking about what it is. You agree, there is in fact no governance or industry standard - yet you claim installations are fine and only gives positive results... To say the least - it don't make sense (not going as far as call that rubbish)... As well don't forget we are talking here about "state of art" 4GR-FSE getting castrated and not about "last century" 1UZ-FE getting some nuts..
