  1. Now I know... it is powered on bat brains... make sure you check price at filling station near you for these before buying... But current owner is actually claiming he is reluctant to sell it... I wonder why?
  2. Pictures of the car in the listing are usually taken before breaking. And the state of the car when it is listed usually already fully dismantled (unless it it private "dismantler"). Mostly there are two options: Either is sold or not worth selling... rusted etc.. Third options sometimes is that it is for sell, but expensive.. I am starting to thing I might be interested to trade for performance exhaust ... (nah just joking :D)
  3. But that is not only engines.. Obviously, with decent maintenance all aggregates would work for long time, but as well interior and suspension. I used to own IS250 F-sport from new before I came to UK and now own almost 8 years old IS250 with many many miles on it. And it still drives nearly as new, obviously there is wear and tear on the gear knob (£25 to replace) and steering wheel (maybe ~£75 to get leather replaced), but except of that there are no funny sounds and the rest of interior looks like car covered maybe 16k miles, but not 160k.. Even drivers seat is in good shape.. yes getting shinny in the places, but that is about it. Mot last month with no advisories.. but obviously I knew that service was done .. so no surprises.
  4. Finally, my one came through as well - booked for 20th of June to replace sensor. Not exactly.. Takata was one of may airbag manufacturers and supplied some 300000 Toyota/Lexus cars, they would only recall those with airbags from this manufacturer and only certain batch. What I mean - if it happens to be that we don't have specific batch of airbags in UK, we might never receive recall for that. I think this is bit of misunderstanding. they will do visual inspection of the vehicle (as it is part of procedure) and then they will replace the the sensor and the seal which will take 1,5h. To be honest I was really unhappy with Lexus Woodford service last time and wanted to avoid them by any means. So first center I have contacted was Southend, but they don't work on Saturdays.. then I was left with Woodford and booked the service with them for 20th of June. They will be providing courtesy car for me and I leave my car for whole day, but the time needed for job is actually 1.5h. that is not for visual inspection, but for the replacement. Visual inspection is like 15min max.
  5. It seems like price won't raise from the starting id of £400. Which means reasonable priced V8 4.0 engine... not sure if much else can be salvaged. In another had if he did "that" to exterior who knows what is done the the engine .. maybe it is fire wood fed system or something.
  6. I have never seen one listed for sell outside of US, but if you contact the sellers on eBay they usually have these parts... but it is not cheap. I think when one of my boxes brake loose, I was quoted £660 for new original, £300-400 for aftermarket and if I remember right there was one used for like £450. The problem is that they breaking much more IS220d, and much fewer IS250s.
  7. I don't think I am saying something more than I said before, but my feeling is the same as Peter. I run higher pressure than standard (38F/40R) and want to keep it that way. I do not trust KwikFit, but I do alignment, tire fitting and nitrogen inflation at local ATS. I have not expected any difference while driving. Some say (like Stig) that nitrogen is more stable and over long run improves wear and even handling when tires getting hot. As correctly pointed out - this is not because of nitrogen, but because of humidity (water content in the air). It is very likely there will be no difference if the "air" 100% dry. Now from theoretical to the real thing. From experience I can tell that I haven't lost any pressure on nitrogen over 8 month. I do not need to regularly check tire pressure with the gauge (only inspect them visually), and when I did check it was the same as on the day of inflation. In the beginning I was not that confident, but after 4 month checking the tires there were no pressure loss I am now confident that nitrogen doesn't leak as much as air. To be precise it leaks so little, that I can pretty much drive on it until my tires needs replacement. That said front tires were inflated to 38PSI and when I replaced rears they still were dead 38PSI after 8 month and 12k miles. In mean time I had puncture in the rear 2 weeks before replacing both rears and the repaired tire was filled with air. I have asked to check the pressure before replacing tires and the one originally inflated with nitrogen was still 40PSI, while the repaired one inflated 2 weeks ago was 39PSI. Now you can question whenever that was poor repair, or air, or simply not well calibrated gauge at local garage which was repairing puncture, but the fact is that nitrogen inflated tired didn't leak over 8 month and 12k miles tells all the story. It is nothing wrong to inflate tires with air and check them regularly if you have accurate enough gauge (the ones at petrol stations probably shows milk fat content), as well as inflate tires with nitrogen for £5 and forget about gauges. It is entirely up to you, and I guess it depends on expectations. It won't improve lap times, but can save time and give more confidence.
  8. You probably right about those in a range of 20-30k (they are great value even for higher end), but 44k is already in another league, hits RC-F which is essentially successor... Pretty sure they should reasonably discount this one for serious customers.
  9. I am not sure if there is different recall, but this is definitely not the same safety recall. I would be quite fancy to do it as it sound like great deal to have engine nearly rebuild for free.
  10. Literally there is RCF for the same price - ok it has 14k instead of 5k, but it is as well 3 years newer. But 14k is no like much, still both are nearly new cars.
  11. Only by saving time Nitrogen is worth more than those £5-6. No more checking for pressure. Inflated with Nitrogen after change of tires and recently checked (8 month later), same pressure (38/40). If I would have had air in the tires I am sure would have checked them 4 times already and spent maybe £8 on those pathetic compressors in petrol stations (at least near me times of free air are gone, and most common going price now is ~£2) , which either doesn't work or don't even inflate to the correct pressure.
  12. Thanks for clarifying, that was my feeling as well. My tires are nitrogen filled.... and I do recommend it as well (just for peace of mind) 38 front, 40 rear ( as oppose 35/38 recommended).
  13. Just out of curiosity... Are these the same bushing for IS250? While IS250 suspension is not exactly the same as ISF, I believe this "inner edge issue" is caused by the same thing. While I have no intentions for track driving and feel like USRS would be overkill for daily driving.. still much prefer to have more accurate steering (not a strong point on IS). Wonder it that would have noticeable difference on otherwise soft IS250 SEL, or it would be better to fit F-Sport sway bars first (which from my experience improves steering somehow, but not by large margin)? When I bough mine, the inner edge wear came under advisories, but I have recently replaced all the tires and did all wheel alignment. So far (6000 miles) tires seems to be wearing evenly, but was always cautious with alignment and tire pressure. Currently, running on little bit higher than standard pressure, because from my experience on IS not only the there is more wear in inner edge, but as well more outside then in the middle of the tire.
  14. They definitely own me one for all of misdeeds they committed on my during last service.
  15. You are right. Funny enough I have recently asked Lexus Woodford to change these setting for me e.g. I wanted doors to lock when speed is 13+MPH and to unlock when shifted to P. They said my car is too old and does not support personalised settings (what?! 2008 November)..
  16. I think this is default option, unless changed. Once I actually found my car with all windows fully open in the rain .. still mystery how it happened. I suspected matching key frequencies from another car :D
  17. I have one for my car as well, but Lexus Woodford said they don't have parts yet and don't know how to do it (don't have service manual for this specific job). This is not same recall as before, as I was told this time around they will be replacing "different parts" (presumably both sensor and gasket), as well they will be recalling much larger number of the cars as before. Including the ones which have previously had recall for gasket. Funny enough just a week after they said they don't have parts ODB code pops up stating low fuel pressure.... Will be chasing them soon to say my car is unsafe now and I need the work done ASAP. As forum member pointed out - you can usually expect £25 worth complimentary fuel - so don't go with full tank. P.S. I expect them to provide complimentary courtesy car... goes without questions. the recall is their problem and duty.
  18. Both of above works, if you have moon-roof it will be closed as well. as I usually have my keys in the pocked and don't even know which one - you can hold button on the door handle until windows/moon roof closes.
  19. Hi, Congrats with the car, definitely a good choice. I have owned 3 of IS250 and have fair experience on different systems available. In fact I was always very happy with standard audio system in IS250. My first one didn't have ML audio and it was brilliant without it, my second one had ML but in fact I have not noticed any difference ... the reason is simple - I always listen mp3 from my phone or from usb-stick. That said you only going to see different when playing good quality source (...and probably some classic music). If you after modern POP ML is not worth upgrading, standard system is plentiful. Regarding sat/nav .. it is nice option if it is free, but I wouldn't pay an extra penny for it. The screen is unresponsive, maps are inaccurate and expensive to upgrade. Obviously it is nice not to fiddle with suction cups and extra cables, but functionality is poor. For short trips phones does just well, for longer trip (like to EU etc) Sat/nav is recommended. To be hones I would recommend proper sat/nav even if you car is equipped with sat/nav - again maps can be outdated and latest traffic information is obviously not added.
  20. Good quality brush means - that bristles doesn't fall of. I am nor sure if air brushes are any good for such job (I am not expert thought).. that is because you want paint to get deep into the material. Differently from painting hard surfaces, you don't need to make very thin layer of paint, but you want to work the dye in the material. The leather dye will get in both leather and the filler, it won't stay on top, so basically there is no difference how to apply it. Actually majority of the kits comes with sponge... I guess I agree that the biggest problem is to match the colour of the paint here, not that difficult to apply it after that.
  21. You don't need compressor for seat/leather repair. Just a good quality brush...
  22. The DIY kits would be quite difficult to use on perforated IS250 seats... I have chosen black interior knowing that on used car it is not going to look much better and will be easier to maintain. Even when it comes to like dying some small scratches or cracks black leather always easier to do. Unfortunately, I cannot point to specific product as don't have much experience using them, but the principle is as in the video below...filling, sanding, filling sanding, applying dye, polishing... and repeating again.
