  1. Wait... is this the reason you bought IS220d?
  2. yeah, but now I have revised that .... to 193k to be fair car was throwing solenoid errors from ~188k, so I guess to be safe ~185k would be good time 😁 Now car drives like new, I hate I sold it and moved into this terrible RC200t. That 193k IS drives better!
  3. yeah, but you remember I said I think fluid needs to be changed ~100K miles?
  4. I think that is the only part which makes sense... that is proven engine, with all development costs long recouped, meaning it is dirt cheap to produce as far as Lexus is concerned. Because it is no longer competitive with M4 or C63 or whatever other rivals, they just took it down the notch and instead of making top-off the line called it 500. The only question here is the price - if they price it between IS350 and what IS-F used to cost, then it may be interesting option (that works out ~$55000) Still that does not explain why and why now?!
  5. No... you ok! You don't even own IS220d, what I would hate you for ?!
  6. I am sorry... I thought that is always what everyone wanted... I just think they wanted cake, turns out it is fish pie - not big deal? Aye? On the different topic... just replaced gearbox fluid.. or let's say refreshed it... should make you happy!
  7. Could be - my knowledge may be outdated. I think when I bought my AT it was £285 and MT was £495, but then every year it went up by £5-10. It seems according to Autotrader it is £330 and £565 respectively, but that is not in line with Co2 figures. AT is quoted 194g and MT 231g (which is ridiculous, but it is what it is). So AT should be £305 as you said, however I am quite confident I paid £325 last year for mine and it would have gone up-to £330 as per Autotrader. ____ edit: yes indeed - it is £325 least year so £330 this year.
  8. But that is good isn't it? now they can have their fish and eat it!
  9. There must be some bridges in Ireland?! Isn't it... if not Boris promised to build one... although now he says it may be tunnel 😄 Just make sure it is not over the road, because I hate when they stop entire motorway for hours just because somebody could not decide if they want to jump or not...
  10. Yes I know that... I say Shelby, because it was his car which was in particular quoted as a reason, who was driving isn't really that important, it was test drive on orders from Shelby. And you absolutely right, MPs were looking for any excuse to introduce this, if not for Shelby, then it would have been Jaguar, if not for Jaguar, it would have been Bentley or somebody else. However, fact is - they managed to make outrage out of it and it is still the cause. If not for those race teams testing prototype race cars, most drivers would not have reached even 90 or 100MPH and causing outrage would have been quite difficult, maybe it would have happed only in 70 or 80, by which time speed of 80 or 90 would have been selected, but because it happened so early, so low speed was introduced. I still quite annoyed that government keeps toying with idea of making it 80 or 90 (in line with Europe), but never get to it. I guess for one, so artificially low speed proven to be great source of income. In short when somebody causes issue and overly strict limit is introduced, it is hard to later reconsider that limit and raise it, because usually there are good excused for reducing it further, but it is very hard to make appealing case of why it need to be raised.
  11. Just to add - I just watched now first real review (as far as I know this is the first real review, with real car): And again, just bizarre. They didn't go for big mainstream show, or channel or well know auto journalist. They went with youtube channel which is mostly attracts younger people. This would indicate they want to appeal to younger buyer, but at the same time IS500 is not the car you can sell to young buyer... it is just so confusing! And if you watch review even Donut does not know what to say about it.. why it exists etc.. and quite surpassingly the comparison with IS-F is minimal. I don't want to make any conspiracy theories, but maybe Lexus instructed them not to compare it like successor of IS-F?! Because Donut clearly know about IS-F - so their inability to connect 2 obvious dots is surprising to say the least. At least engine now sounds as I would expect in this video - it must be just a fluke on the video on Lexus own page.
  12. nice effort, but if you don't mind I would like to continue to hate people. Ok?
  13. I guess then customs in Ireland are indeed different 😁
  14. What about Germans, do you think they are pedantic and serious? Finnish? Swiss? I mean I sort of agree with you here, but neither I see any relation to the topic, nor it is bad or good if it is true. Simply irrelevant here... Joking is fine and I am all for it, but it is not possible to joke about removing DPF or seeing positive side of it - it is just scummy behaviour which hurts us all. I would probably summarise that I am serious when the topic is serious and I can be relaxed and joking when topic is just discussion for fun - you there is nothing funny about poisoning people around you and them getting cancer... not something I spend time laughing about, I don't think many people do that either.
  15. My mental health ok... At least I can admit I am driving ****ty RC200t, because I could not afford RC-F... But claiming to have IS220d... for [insert here] and not the money won't work on anyone older than 3 years old. As well I will do what I want to do, if I want to scald people for being criminal and unethical, then that is what I will to do. This non-sense of "starting from yourself" doesn't work on me. Sure you can claim it if you would be at least within the law, but you are not... you are clearly factually wrong, so why argue? And what that has to do with anything? I guess if you learn Polish and go on Polish forum, you may not understand most of context specific inside jokes... at least I assume so that would apply to any non-native speaker in any langue. I am not polish so I don't know if that is the case, but I guess not everything can be translated...
  16. I guess it would be right to assume you read the post above before replying?
  17. But you didn't answer my question...
  18. I really struggling to understand what Lexus is doing in last decade - they are clearly lost. Like why kill IS-F for mk3, just to bring it back as mk~3.5'ish and call it IS500 (btw IS500 was original name for IS-F)... why kill RC-F and GS-F and bring in IS-F (basically). It is just so bizarre.. Why make IS replacement and not sell it in Europe.. at all... And what is with that sound - it does not sound like V8... I would argue it almost sounds like V12 or something... I mean I like the sound but it just sounds not-natural for that engine.
  19. not so much... when instead of 10 hours you drive it for 10 minutes to the shop and back - is it?
  20. That is bizarre, so not only they basically made IS-F for the car they stopped selling in Europe and which is generally considered niche and EOL model, but as well they dropped "F" branding?! I guess this is so they could sell it for much cheaper without depreciating RC-F... but how that is relevant? both RC-F and GS-F are EOL models. I guess this simply means not more "F" models? Similar to what Tim said - just speculation, but maybe they realised going after M4/M3 they never going to win, so better to have best offer compared to M440i/M340i and similar MBs, Audis. This actually would make sense in line-up - there is not LC-F, just LC 500.
  21. Agreed! I would rather drive IS220d without DPF and risk being seen by person like me and short repeatedly on the side of the road! By how much exactly? More or less compared to you simply being tired... can you compare the driver who has 15 years of experience after pint, with another one with 2 years experience without a pint. What if you simply smoke, what if you simply had painkillers or other medication, what if you wear glasses? I think it depends... call me stupid, but I quite certain that after one pint I am still quite good driver. What is even level to be considered "good driver"? I would argue that half drivers should not be on the roads... even sober. So I it is not that simple to just say - pint will impair your ability to drive. Sure if you have 10 pints then it is another matter!
  22. If you base it off 48MPG as being 100%, then yes 60MPG will be 125% or 25% more efficient, but if you base it on 60MPG as being 100% then 48MPG will be 80%, or 20% less efficient I am happy with either case! but you can choose which one is closer to your hart 🙂
