  1. This is battery temp sensor. It is quite standard clip, but pain to reach - there is little tang you need to press and then it comes off quite easily. Don't rip it off thought - might be expensive mistake.
  2. Ok - so that was linked to memory seats then, but Sport, SR and SE does no have memory seats as standard, whereas all other grades does (advance?). Meaning that Sport, SR, SE has this as optional, rest as standard.
  3. I think what he meant is that SE, does not have it. As far as I know all trims had it except of SR, Sport and SE
  4. That is good point - one of the reason IS250 is such a good value for money is that it is safe to buy high mileage cars as long as they have service history.
  5. Reminds me Samsung Note 7... that costed Samsung £2billion and it was just a bloody phone!
  6. Same here, CC accelerates much harder than I would do, then blows past limit by 3 miles and slows down. At least that was the case for older cars like IS mk2, mk3 and RC. I must say that CC is much improved in LC, NX and even UX. Allows for very quick and specific adjustment (1 mile or 5 mile increments), works smoother and actually stays on target speed rather well. Obviously they are still limited to the same issues when it comes to predicting future and anticipating changes in the circumstances ahead. I would conclude that CC is comfort feature like AC, rather than a tool which helps to make the car more fuel efficient. If you really want to hypermile using your foot is still the best.
  7. Depends what you compare it with... simple phone with google maps will run circles around it, even sat-navs in other cars from same era are better. If your phone has died, then I guess it is better than nothing... In the end of the day I rarely use sat-nav to tell me where to go, more often to check the traffic and calculate the "true" quickest route and avoid traffic jams.
  8. Not sure about that. Standard Unleaded is 95, premium is anything above that 97-99 (or 100), 91-92 is quite difficult to find in UK. Besides ethanol has Octane (RON) of 120-135, it could even be used as octane booster, so it is quite unlikely that ethanol mix with petrol could reduce the RON of fuel.
  9. That is good point regarding corrosion. As I said - I used fuel with ethanol extensively and I am sure many IS250s in Europe drive on this fuel all the time (and worse - like E85). However, I never kept that fuel in the tank for prolonger period of the time - I would say at most the tank lasted for 2 weeks at the time I had IS250. Perhaps if you not driving much, then indeed - keeping ethanol in the tank is probably not good idea.
  10. Your engine is 4GR-FSE... they all are in all 250s anywhere in the world. FSE means - Economy narrow-angle valve DOHC, Swirl intake, Electronic Fuel injection (yes absolutely logical I know ...): https://parts.olathetoyota.com/toyota-engine-codes#:~:text=The coding system works simply,dash%2C lists the engine's features. Now in terms of E10, E25... and even E85 - I have run IS250 extensively on all of them. In a lot of European countries E85 is quite common, sometimes the only fuel available. I cannot claim it does not damage the engine, never checked, never had issues, but car consumes more of it. Not 40% as you would expect from pure ethanol, but E85 is probably ~10%. Apart of that no noticeable difference, although I assume car was slightly down on power as after filling full tank of ethanol in Germany I could only reach 127MPH 😞
  11. LUCAS is quite well known car parts company with long history, as such I would not really be worried about brand. In other hand - I was not aware LUCAS makes alternator for Lexus IS250, I would certainly double-check if that is correct part.
  12. Yes he did 800 miles in A8, They did diesel Xj from Switzerland to Blackpool... and Jag XJ R (supercharged) west to east cost.
  13. I would say that best consumption is achieved when you keep speed and RPM as consistent as possible - it does not matter if you achieve it with cruise control or by your foot. For that to happen a lot of perdition and anticipation is needed in realistic traffic scenario. So cruise control may be go if road is very quiet and very even, but in real life there will be cases where you will have to brake and cancel cruise control of simply letting the accelerator pedal off in anticipation for slowdown. Other thing I noticed, if you put car in "Eco mode" it tends to "up-shift" (obviously it is CVT) too far and keep too low RPM, then when you come to incline engine does not have enough power and has to "down-shift" to keep the speed and does it less smoothly than one could do with their foot. As such the best MPG I was able to achieve whilst using cruise control with both 300h and 200t were on at least "normal" or even "sport mode" (not sport+). Although, it tends to "down-shift" earlier and "up-shift" later car was overall more consistent and smooth, and had better MPG. "Eco mode" just "up-shift" too early and aggressively and result in less consistent and smooth driving, and as result I suspect worse economy. I think he did Jag West cost to East cost, to catch sunrise.
  14. Well.... your IS has much newer system than mk2... but you right it still sucks. I have same system in my RC and I still use phone for navigation. The only benefit of our systems is that it has full Bluetooth phone integration (late mk2s had that as well, from ~2010) so basically it is just as useful as Bluetooth speaker for me 🙂
  15. Sat-Nav with reverse camera was always an option on SE-L, even early models. But to be honest sat-nav is so terrible on mk2 IS that I would not bother having it at all, I guess the only benefit of having it is that reverse camera - despite very poor quality video it is still better than nothing and makes parking easier. Anyway I would not spay one extra penny to have this option in the car... if it comes up in the car I like anyway for the same price then it is great, if not then not.
  16. The issue was that motor controlling the back of the seat getting weak. It didn't stop working completely, but I would have to move forward for it to be able to come-up and it was making funny noises going down. Anyway - Lexus recommended changing all the motors (I believe there are 3 or 4 of them on the seat) and ended-up replacing entire seat base. I am still quite surprised they didn't simply changed the seat - sounds like much simpler job and I cannot imagine that costing more than £4200. I probably should have insisted on that to be honest, as there was some wear on the bolster... well too late now!
  17. Just to illustrate your point - my seat electric motor failed. £4200 paid by warranty... Imagine paying that yourself 🥶 As for MPG... don't worry, that fuel is at least turned into V8 symphony! Imagine my feeling when I have same consumption, just instead of symphony - 2l turbo rattle.

Yes indeed. But then they cannot be made if we choose to be critical of their compromised products is it? Either way - that is not an issue for IS250, great car and nowadays it is amazing value as well.
  19. Actually I forgotten that having AC on CT prevents engine from shutting off, so yes it may have impact. As well if you waiting with engine on for long time it will obviously impact your mileage figures. It is not like it uses a lot of fuel, it is just that you not moving at all and that gives inflated consumption figures.
  20. Lexus extended warranty is generally available as long as car is FLSH (less than 140k/10 years), if car is not FLSH then inspection may be needed. It isn't really that strange as there are quire a few companies offering breakdown-cover and warranty. I guess the difference is that Lexus extended warranty is one of the most comprehensive and not much more expensive (actually probably cheaper when it comes to "F" cars). As well it is provided by Lexus and my experience with them was amazing - you simply take car to dealership and they simply takes care of it (unless somehow part is not covered - wear items are obviously not).
  21. + it depends on the hills themselves. As I said in Canary island there are areas with quite steep hills. In other hand - you right if you came-up, you must come down, meaning that particularly in hybrid energy lost going-up can be captured when going down. Although some people don't take advantage of this and just brake down the hill, instead of allowing regenerative braking to do it's thing. The only problem I can see with this - if downhill road is very steep and twisty, then Lexus regenerative braking is not aggressive enough to go down without braking.
  22. Ac would have minimal impact, maybe little bit in CT200h, but even then only if you stationary - just my guess but in stationary car it maybe going to be 5% more, but when you driving ... maybe 1%. Don't quote me on these number, I am just saying AC will have very small impact to consumption, audio wouldn't be noticeable at all. Mountain on other hand could be the case! I remember renting little C2 in Tenerife and we decided to visit some sightseeing places little bit more towards the centre of the island (meaning going to mountains)... I didn't make much inland, the mountains just got so steep that tiny car could not get-up to them even redlining in second gear. What I am saying - if you have steep inclines they will hurt your economy a lot.

RC200t - Just over a year now, didn't drive it much thought... had few blasts around the country when we had relaxed rules during the summer, but overall I am still not impressed.

Acceleration is more or less = weight/power... meaning heavier car has to have more powerful engine - in the end of the day it is up to manufacturer to meet expectation of the customer for their products to be attractive and successful. 🙂
