  1. NX F-sport is "AWD"-ish. 200t is real AWD, and hybrid as you say just has separate electric motors. Not sure if there was 2WD version later on and I am not expert in NX so I don't know, but for 2016 it is listed as AWD. I appreciate the difference, but exclusion of electric boot closing/opening on RC is what triggers me 😁 It is a feature which would have been very nice indeed and certainly expected for it's class.
  2. Are you saying one could not stick "Marina" badge on 1100/1300?
  3. That was probably similar to nowadays - people sticking M-sport badges on anything they stick on... including WV Golfs 😁
  4. https://media.toyota.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Lexus-Full-Price-List-October.pdf It seems like RC was not as well equipped as NX, despite being more expensive (and clearly worse than IS, but it may be justified). Just Lexus prioritising SUVs and SUV market being more competitive? @ColinBarber As I was saying just comparing the two NX300h F-sport vs RC300h F-sport, the RC was £500 cheaper (previously I thought £1000). Standard equipment on NX (over RC) even includes ACC, PCS, BSM and RTCA, and it is AWD. I assume F-Sport comes standard with leather cooled/heated front seats. The only real thin RC has over NX is AVS. Sadly, I don't have full spec sheet for correct year for both, but I would gladly look at it if somebody does.
  5. I am aware we are in off-topic, but I am surely would like to discuss this in more detail... as I don't think I agree.
  6. Wow... so are you saying it is so racy that it even makes camera move at the speed of more than 10 MPH?
  7. When it comes to horse power... I doubt that even straight piping or removing exhaust all together would impact IS250 in any meaningful way. However, some backpressure could add some low end torque, still I would be amazed that few holes in exhaust would have noticeable effect. By the way - OD/ID is outside/inside diameter of the pipe.
  8. The so called "coupe" was more like hatchback, but this looks racy for me: Although, I have no clue as I was not even conceived for at least another 30years after this car hit the streets (and race tracks).
  9. I am pretty sure 245/275 are fine, some member are running even 255 on the front:
  10. Ok... so basically NX always had better audio than RC and only in RC's final year Lexus has terrible 6-speaker system (which is common for "final/limited edition cars"). In which case would you now agree that NX is generally better equipped despite being cheaper car... with exception of MY2020 RC FL?
  11. I doubt holes in exhaust impact HP at all. You system does have resonator (that is long tube where where double exhaust meets in Y over the axle). When you look at Tenabe, just be careful, because most of the videos are from IS350 and IS250 obviously does not sound similar at all.
  12. Some had red stripes on the grill... isn't that racy?
  13. Yeah, now insurance would be at least 5 times more than the car they driving + kidney! That is what happens when government outsources public policy to private companies. When I came to UK at ~19... and I was very excited about how cheap the cars are here I was very quickly disappointed when I realised how much insurance would cost. My first ever quote was ~£36,000 (and no - number of 0's is correct).
  14. Not sure what is relevance here - ok FL has dropped awful 6 speaker stereo. Cool. Which means that my comment is still true for all cars before 2020? Does NX still has 6-speaker audio for MY2020?
  15. I am comparing F-Sport to F-Sport, NX is like for like £1000 cheaper, yet it almost always had better equipment. Indeed RC was not available in lower grades (200t in particular only had Premier and F-Sport). And I don't know what you mean by RC "still having better audio system" - standard system on RC is same as one in IS - just most awful 6 speaker system ever fitted to modern car - are you saying NX has even worse system? or you saying that ML in RC is better than ML in NX (in which case you right)? Further, NX has more options available e.g. 360 degree camera, panoramic sunroof or glass roof and more... which are not even options in RC. Lexus adding boot closing in face-lift just proves my point that this is the feature which would be expected in the segment and class of the car. If it would make no sense, then they would not add it.. right?
  16. It could, depending where it is done, but generally IS250 exhaust is not restrictive. Other questions is whenever the OD or ID was changed. It is possible that smaller OD SS pipe may still have same IS as mild-steel, because SS pipes tend to have thinner walls.
  17. I certainly don't know the answer to that and it is a little bit scary - what I know for sure is that it will be very difficult to replace it. In general I just don't need a car at all. I barely done 3k miles last year and less than 400 since October 2020. Not to continue off-topic I suggest you check the thread where I have outlined many issues in more detail:
  18. I cannot answer your question regarding differences in the battery design. However, I would expect them to refuse any warranty as long as the car is non-UK car. Reason for that is that technically Toyota/Lexus Japan is different company from EU/UK branch. Same way as say mobile phone you bought in South America would not be warranted by Samsung or Apple UK (and vice versa) unless it specifically has "worldwide warranty", but even then they will do everything to refuse warranting it. And that is for devices which quite often move around continents, but for cars this is quite unlikely to happen, so I am not sure if concept of "worldwide warranty" even exists on cars. I know that for example Lexus US quite specifically states that warranty only applies in US (doesn't even apply in Canada or Mexico). In summary what I am saying - their refusal to warranty it is likely to be more of the policy/legal thing rather than any particular technical difference. The liability to warranty your car simply lies with Lexus Japan and not with Lexus UK. The difference in design is most likely just an excuse, rather than saying - "sorry it is a policy thing".
  19. I don't think that selling my RC would help with it's design flaws. But is it for sale and trust me - boot closing is last reason for it.
  20. My point was that cheaper car is better equipped than more expensive one - that is all, and boot closing is just one of many examples (RC generally very poorly equipped for price compared to NX). I agree with your points regarding practical reason why SUV tailgates are more likely to have it than car boot. Now when it comes to closing boot on RC - I do struggle, not because I lack power to close it, but because of how awkward it is. Springs are rather powerful, the handle is very deep under the boot lid, car is low - so not only I have to slam boot with a lot of force whilst bending over it, but I need to be very quick to pull my hand out if I don't want to lose it... finally boot being slammed so hard doesn't latch half of the time and springs back in your face... so I kind of need to have another hand prepared to stop it in case of that. The alternative is not to use the handle inside, but that means you have to press it on the outside - there are again many issue with that - the boot might be wet or dirty. And it goes both ways - I don't want to make my hands wet or dirty and neither I want to scratch the boot if it is dirty or leave fingerprints if it is clean. It is very annoying and kind of dangerous... I certainly would not feel embarrassed just using the button to close it and considering this is technically competitor to E-Class and 4-Series Coupes which both have it... I consider that for the car of it's class RC to be poor and below the standard.
  21. ...and I made above comment before finishing my coffee, so pardon lack of continuity in my sentence 😁
  22. I had adaptive suspension in mind, but doesn't electric motor at the top of the strut makes it "electric"? Point is - these fail more often and are more expensive to replace than simple ones in GS300.
  23. I would much prefer if it would close by button as well... I found it strange that cheaper NX has both closing and opening boot and more expensive RC doesn't.
  24. This is always quoted as an issue, because about every single person who get's SS exhaust later comes back to complain about drone. Sound like you have best of both worlds then.
