  1. Well for that we already pay income tax isn't it? If our politicians would be less corrupt and our systems more efficient I am sure that would be enough … actually, not only enough, we would have money to spare for doubling the salaries of NHS staff, hiring twice as many teachers, police officers and fireman and firewoman...
  2. The car would be insured on CI insurance, so you would get pay-out. You simply would not need to sell your kidneys to pay just for punitive UK insurance. When it comes to VAT - I agree with you. But when it comes to VED I don't - I would be happy to pay any price for VED if it would be secured just for roads improvements (who wouldn't want our roads to improve!), but it isn't and it goes into things I disapprove... and our roads are frankly disgrace at the moment, getting worse and worse every year.
  3. That would be great as I sometimes struggle to find even my own posts, never mind some useful post somebody made years ago. Having them numbered one could simply have a list which they always refer to.
  4. This is solution for people with more money than sense (or very principal). Take for example that you have Ferrari, or maybe LC500 which you drive in summer. You can follow the process I described, spend all summer completely legally driving on black and silver number plates, because you prefer them over white/yellow and it makes your car look more special. Service it and put it into storage - repeat next year. On top of that you would be saving on VAT, on road tax and on insurance - that could be very significant amount of money for some very rare and expensive car (say Bugatti Chiron). For example if I would have multiple cars and would be very rich - I would do that... because I consider VAT, VED and insurance unfair and I would be happy to avoid paying them. Not sure all in all this would save any money (probably it would), but it would certainly make me feel better knowing that fraudulent UK insurers and tax man got nothing from me. Certainly not a solution for everyone!
  5. I read that in a way that John is joking as thread is already on the first page. But maybe not 😁
  6. SE-L is highest spec from mk3 (2005-2011) - others are SE, SE-i, Sport if I remember correct. Executive, Premier and Luxury is already mk4 (2012+). In short - SE-L always the best, SE-i could be spec'ed quite high, SE and Sport are low-end (but sport has some lips on bumpers) and model without any designation is worst. Not sure what LE stands for exactly, but certainly not high-end model. To be honest that is as much detail as I could get into - there are endless list of differences between trims and every year they were updated and changed, standard spec. and options changed etc. So comparison has to be done for every model and every year individually.
  7. yeah... but it still could be that they low balled it and now put-it up for same price. That actually happens quite often as well. I remember previously on RC-Fs in in particular - one day you see it listed for £28,500 by private seller, next day it is some motor trade company under exactly same advert with same pictures selling the same car for £29,500... and obviously everyone knows they they didn't bought it for £28... Wheels are stock Carbon wheels, just refurbished in black (because that is cheapest), the vent as well looks like vinyl, if it would be proper carbon vent it would not be so flush. funny enough I found very similar car in US, for a second I thought this is the same car:
  8. Said same, thin... I guess they playing on "special car" or mods. Other tactic may be - you get there and they say "special just for today 15% off, just for you sir". So somebody may think they getting amazing discount, whereas they really just be paying the normal price or just above it. And yes it is just normal RC-F carbon, nothing exceptional or optional. And as discussed it doesn't even have claimed ACC, PCS and AVS. The statement of "only 4 in this colour" is probably true... as there are just over 200 cars in UK in total. So realistically it is going to be very low numbers for each colour. I know that my previous RC was the only RC200t in UK with combo of Black/Red leather/Sunroof and ML. There were ML and sunroof, but not black, there were several black/red but either only sunroof or only ML etc. So when it comes to such rare cars it is not surprising almost every one of them are one-off of the particular spec. combo. As it often happens with rarer faster cars.. it may be that traders made a complete bottom offer to private seller (say £25k) and they now trying to flip the car. Advantage of this is that traders can offer more finance options, PX etc. so for them it is easier to sell than for private seller.
  9. Exactly... I am not saying colour is bad, just not for everyone. As for mods seems like easy to undo if somebody into it. "gone-wrong" is when that other guy put some crazy wheels and rainbow wrap... that was quite bad. In other hand it is not to difficult to rip wrap away and just put the wheels back. I guess what I am saying as long as mods easily reversible is not yet "gone wrong". At least he didn't have money to actually turn it into this (that would have been gone):
  10. Yes... it seems you right, before 2017 Lexus do not mention AVS on RC-F... from 2017 they say it has F-AVS. Strange how Lexus fitted it into F-Sport but not F.
  11. I thought AVS was standard on RC-F, I mean it is standard on F-Sport already. As well Carbon has TVD as standard. What it claims it does have, but doesn't is ACC/PCS, the LDA button would be split into two and there would be radar button on the wheel is it would be true. The car isn't really ruined by mods, they are rather minimalist, but colour is not for everyone. As well said above, even considering low miles this is far too expensive for 2015 car. One could buy 2018 car with only 5k miles for the same price.
  12. Yes you right, seat are leather, electric, memory and heated, only the ventilation is not there on F-Sport. What surprises me that my 2016 loaner NX had ventilated seats, but I don't see it mentioned anywhere as an option. Could that be part of "Premier pack" (which as well adds heated steering wheel, which wasn't an option on UK RC)? The argument could be made that if car would have been better equipped or better priced, or had better engine choice, or had better customisation options they may have sold many more of them. Sure - at no point I can see RC outselling NX or even IS for that matter, but the ration may have been 8:1 or 5:1 instead of 10:1. e.g. RC350 for £40k would make much more sense than 300h/200t for £37k from the perspective of the person who is looking for sporty coupe. 300h may be alright engine for more economical family car, but for sports car it just doesn't cut it. Sadly, I don't have number to back it up, but I am sure that ratio of 40i/30i and overall petrol engines is far greater on say BMW 4-Series coupes than it is on 3-Series saloons i.e. in 4-Series petrol engines may be 50% and more powerful variants may be 25%, whereas on 3-Series maybe 90% are diesel or smaller petrol. Basically what I am saying is that clientele for sports coupes are different from saloons and in my opinion Lexus misjudged the market and failed to take advantage of RC as a model.
  13. I didn't say on permanent basis - I just said there are ways of legally registering car on black/silver number plates and legally driving it in UK, whilst at the same time being UK resident as well. You right, there are limitations - 90 days for EU car and I think 180 days for CI (although don't quote me on that), but these limitation are very difficult to enforce, so luck may vary to a degree... or to the level ones is willing to push it.
  14. Just make sure you are doing the first reading right then. I said "rent the car out to yourself". UK residents can drive rental cars in UK regardless where they registered within EU or CI. Not sure if EU thing still works after brex****, but see no reason why CI should not work.
  15. please read my post again, you may have missed a small detail or two there...
  16. I can't remember fuel being £1.26 in 2019.. I thought that once it dropped to £1 in December 2018 (or was it 2017), prices always were in a range of ~£1.10... Probably just shows how detached I am from fuel filling and prices for last year... 😁
  17. No - old style plates have silver numbers. Looks great. But in UK people don't want numbers plates to look great, they want them to be ugly and obvious, just to remind you of what crime it is to have a car.
  18. I am sure leg wiggling thing was first introduced on S-Class and then picked-up be several German manufacturers before becoming quite standard on mid-range cars like Fords, Kias and Hyundais. Point of comparing the gadgets is that boot on RC is pain to close without touching outside of it and second point is that another car made by same manufacturer which costs the same has this function and RC doesn't/ and tertiary point is that clearly this was an issue, because Lexus added it in FL RC. So there are multiple comparisons which could be made regarding this point. Ohh.. and almost forgotten - RC competitors as well has it, or at least gives option to spec the car with it. So it is strange that Lexus being "ultimate luxury brand" doesn't even offer it.
  19. It is possible to get black one, but police usually becomes quite upset... One option is probably registering company in Jersey and then renting out your own car to yourself + insurance is cheaper and there is no road tax, not VAT on the car (or is that Guernsey)...
  20. I thought it was frozen for almost last decade, did I missed something... have Sunak announced that in the recent budget?
  21. Your list clearly states F-Sport had leather, electric, heated and ventilated seats as standard (P53). The base model didn't. NX as wall has automatic electric handbrake and RC has antiquated foot pedal. As well your list suggest F-Sport actually had AVS or whatever they mean by F-sport suspension). Smartphone wireless charger is as well big thing. How comes older model had it, but RC did not?! Do you happen to have RC spec. sheet as well for the same year. Other thing, which again makes me thing Lexus prioritised NX much more - look at the list of options. Sure "premier pack" was pricey £2000, but for what it offers it is amazing. RC had no meaningful options like that - HUD, 360 camera, panoramic roof, wheel options, colour options etc.
  22. as long as it is F-Sport or M-Sport as well!
  23. What about sticking m-sport badge on golf or audi... quite clearly they are no BMW, people still do it thought. You just made me realise how long ago I refuelled … the price last time I did it was 1.07... It is ridiculous that it is now 1.26 for no good reason what so ever. Well to be honest there is never good reason for fuel price as they are - just anti-democratic dictatorship and profiteering (80% of prices are tax anyway).
  24. The latter is quite bold move !
