700,000 miles Lexus SC430 Scary but Reassuring Review.
dutchie01 replied to Nigel Coleman's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
Well, highest ever that is known on youtube that is. How about all the French cars in Africa. After a tough life in France without too much maintenance ( Only visit the garage if something breaks) they start a second life in the African countries and just keep soldering on. Also the mercs 200 they simply refuse to die. Would not be surprised if the peugeots 504, 204 etc form the seventies and eighties are all member of the million mile club! -
Taking the plunge in to EV
dutchie01 replied to ivancrx's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
Another brilliant video from Savageese. Its about the Ford Mustang E but could as well be about the Lexus RZ. In my view it clearly shows the problems the traditional car manufacturers have compared to the new brands that do EV only. Well worth a look. -
Delivery mileage: What is acceptable?
dutchie01 replied to HGUS's topic in Lexus General Discussions
What is an acceptable mileage if you bring your car in for a service? Testdrive after repair? -
Hang on... just found out the price of 1 litre of petrol in Saudi, guess what? 0.57 euro/litre!
-
Try Saudi Arabia Malc, could be the country of your dreams!
-
Not really, you are a cost that will be thrown overboard the moment it is possible.

Thats why i moved to the countryside many years ago. Peace and quiet. Lived in city centre in my early days had my private wino sleeping in the street in front of my house. Drug dealers everywhere. I decided to leave.

Charge at home and every morning you are good to go. One day ALL petrolstations will have chargingfacilities where you charge some 20% enough to bring you home again. Currently it depends what you use your car for. Drive 300 mls a month around where you live means 1 charge every 3 weeks. Drive around the country and do 1000 mls get a diesel.

Metoo. i was sent home for not wearing a tie, The Nerve!! By the way yes we have seen all the new technologies as stated in this thread but what about my grandparents. Born in 1890, seen the first plane, car, telephone. Lived through two ( 2 ) worldwars and died in the eighties. Born in 1961 i think what makes my generation special is that we never experienced a war. Sounds stupid but you only have to look into history to see that is really special.

I started checking my PSA values annually after reading Stephen Fry 's reports some years ago and unfortunately i also got the call"we better do some more testing now". Went into hospital several times and had external and internal scans ( through the backdoor) and up to now the diagnosis is only an enlarged prostate always followed by the question, "do you want medicine"? I read about the side effects and that really scared me off so up to now i pushed it away. Time will come however beeing 62. But here is my question. Friend of mine living in Switzerland had his prostate reduced by Cryotherapy ( freezing). He told me all easy peasy no problem and all resolved now. Overhere in Holland they dont do that, propably too expensive? Anyone with more knowledge about that?

More time in the dealer than on the road
dutchie01 replied to stevewagster's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Just a feeling but something here does not add up. Who is the dealer? Is the car new or secondhand and within warranty? Short recap. The dealer delivers a Lexus on your driveway and disappears. You then find out the car does not work and there is black grease all over the white interior. You do not contact the dealer but your neigbour with thesame car starts jumpstarting it?? Next day you drive to a forest, the radio does not work, the satnav has glitches and in the middle of nowhere you cannot close the roof and windows so you walk away. Then 3 more breakdowns, a burning smell in the car and a loose feeling in the steering. I stop here as it all sounds too bizarre to be true. Did you by any chance find any trolls in the forest? -
Friend of mine from Spain owns a 30 yr old Nissan Patrol that he keeps in his second home in the mountains. Car runs some 5k km pa not more and he owned it from new. He will never sell it because it is HIS Nissan Patrol. Car needs mot of course and some years ago the rust was so through the chassis the garage advised him to sell it as repair was more expensive than a new car. He had it repaired as it is HIS Nissan Patrol. Morale of the story is that most cars you forget the moment they are gone and some just creep under your skin. Nothing to do with money or exclusivity but all to do with emotion, a feeling a car can give you. From all the cars i owned over the years 3 stood out, my first car a bloodred alfa bertone gt junior coupe. At 20 years old my dreamcar. And an Opel Omega Station 6 cylinder diesel that was the family car when the children were young, big enough to haul friends, bikes and whatever around for years. Last one the IS250 immaculate buildquality and gives you a special feeling driving it. I understand the Saab owning uncle.

Luton Airport Fire - Speculation pool
dutchie01 replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
The devil could be in the detail here. Who is the owner of this car? Is he "well known " with the police? Could it be that the car was torched as a warning? -
Well said and valid for all types of business. Having said that Luxury products are different. Its about creating an image, a dream, an unobtainable status symbol, something so unique everybody wants one. Aston failed where Ferrari succeeded. The image of AM outside of the UK is mediocre at least. Souped up Jaguars with and interior from a Ford Fiesta. Low tech engines and without James Bond they would have been gone a long time ago. The big DBX can save them as this does tick the right boxes for the wealthy and spoiled clientele. Lets hope they can build on that success and bring out cars that sell. BTW old school way of validating shares is based on history, quality of management, cashflow, profit in previous years. Today that seems all out of the window and its a more speculator view of potential profit in the years to come and forget the history. I dont know how the state of Aston was during the launch price but doubt if it was worth 190/share based on previous performance?

Taking the plunge in to EV
dutchie01 replied to ivancrx's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
Back in the days i owned a Giulia, GT Junior, Alfetta GT Bertone coupe and much later a 75 Indy and 164 Cloverleaf. Always had a soft spot for the Italian Passion. The brand almost disappeared due to lacklustre products combined with horrible reliability. The current QV both in Giulia and Stelvio form seem a rock solid investment due to just beeing excellent cars. Maybe the Current RZ should not be part of the Lexus range? -

Taking the plunge in to EV
dutchie01 replied to ivancrx's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
The development of electric cars goes so fast that dealers have a limited time only to shift the existing models. Take for instance VW/Audi with the ID 3/4 snd Etron models. The first facelift meant new more powerful engines and stronger batterytech. So when the facelift model comes out the previous one is dead in the water nobody wants it. Remember the personal computers? starting with 64mb? then 128 then 256 and so on. Cars have become disposable machines. -
So, would that not be thesame for ALL electric cars? Are ALL insurance premiums going up for the entire BEV fleet? If not what could it be the model Y stands out?
-
Is it Theft? like the Range Rovers in London? Or lack of spare parts as this model is no longer produced in RHD? Suerly it wont be connected to beeing an EV as the model 3 is on every streetcorner now.
-
Exactly my idea. The older generation ( some of them ) are still interested in mechanical propulsion but the vast majority of new buyers dont give a t***. Needs to be economical, easy to operate, a little sexy ( screens) and nobody cares where its built. ( if they really want a car instead of a 7000 euro bike and a 1500 euro smartphone.) Times, they are changing.
-
And thats why they develop LUDICROUS hypercars with 1 million horsepower that are so fast they are completely utterly useless on the road. Well.. bought by investors/speculators anyhow.

Last year Lexus sold 625.365 cars globally which is an 18 % decrease compared to 2021. Lexus UK sold 10.675 cars which is 2% marketshare. Lexus sales in the UK are 1.7% of global sales.
