  1. NONONO i do not want to read this anymore i thought Teslas were just incredibly intelligent cars shadowing all Lexus models and making them obsolete the moment you drive off in a brandnew Tesla! what a disappointment..... www.greencarreports.com/news/1100561_tesla-model-s-too-many-problems-to-recommend-consumer-report-says
  2. OH NO!!! there is more bad news about tesla productquality...... www.cheatsheet.com/automobiles/3-tesla-model-x-problems-keep-popping.html/?a=viewall
  3. Oh dear, and i thought closing was the problem... www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7FHsWr9j7A
  4. Some stats to put things in perspective. Toyota produces 10 million cars per year. Toyota is absolute marketleader in hybrid vehicles with 9 million sold until last may. In 2015 the total number of plug in electric vehicles sold in the entire european Union was 50,000. With exception of scandinavia, netherlands and california the share of plug ins per country is less than 1%. in the countries where this is higher it is artificially influenced with fiscal stimulation. Less than 10% of plug ins are purchased by private owners. So, not really a big market is it... There is no way you can build a solid businesscase on those numbers. The main reason why manufacturers are spending millions in R&D is the C02 legislation, hence downsizing etc. The market is not there in spite of the fact that a lot of press coverage goes to manufacturers like Tesla and all developments about electric infrastructure in innercities and highways. With fiscal stimulation plug ins are expensive and if that is taken away they are unsellable. The choice now is not between a Tesla or Range Rover as evenly priced but between Tesla and nothing as fiscal stimulation means free transport for the owner. The positive side about Electric Vehicles is silentness, acceleration and the idea the power is green ( electricity has to come from somewhere). The negative a limited range, especially when driven hard or in winter, excessive weight and an inflated price. Until a breakthrough in batterytechnology is here i prefer a hybrid or diesel
  5. Talking about Tesla and toyota beeing left behind i think it is all about a solid businesscase or not. Beeing a a mainstream manufacturer the investment has to come back one way or the other. And of course toyota is heavily experimenting with all sorts of new technology it would be naive to think otherwise. If i think about Tesla i admire them in breaking open the automotive market but also think about taxpayers money. Grants and subsidies to develop and build the product and thesame to sell it. The entire EV market is heavily driven by interference from governments and even local councils. Here in Holland no vat, roadtax or in case of employee, no tax whatseever if a full EV is your companycar, driving is 100% gratis, for free! if you are a companyowner it even gets better with the above goodies and then grants and subsidies of thousands to purchase an EV. Oh, and did i mention free parking in innercities of free access to congestion lanes? Teslas are bought from a picture without testdrive for these reasons alone. The car is fast and silent but the build quality is average no match for lexus or audi. The reliability as well, many horrorstories about non functioning batterypacks or frozen touchscreens, in the latest reliability index from the US lexus is number one and Tesla is 26. I am convinced that if the fiscal framework surrounding Tesla is taken away the house of cards will collaps the same day. And that will happen as the amount of EVs on the road will increase and the burden to governments gets too high. so what will the price then be? However the acceptance of EVs for the general public will come with all major manufacturers going for that market but until Toyota will find out it is a solid businesscase to start with 100% EV,s and it can be profitable i do not think they will jump in.
  6. i find the IS a very beautiful car but the RC is just drop dead gorgious.. in the right color / wheel combination this is a machine that gets noticed. It will be cramped inside and unpractical and i dont think i could live with that but if no problem for you i suggest to go for it! a coupe needs to be better looking than its sedan sibling and oh yes it delivers! ( like it in sonic blue with creme leather).

  8. Toyota not working on Electric Cars? just click on below.... www.toyota-global.com/innovation/environmental_technology/electric_vehicle
  9. mine is up for a change in 1.5 yrs and the automobile landscape can look completely different than now with all the EVś in the pipeline. not sure if i will stay with Lexus as i want a small SUV but the NX is too feminine for me and the RX too big. I would prefer a full EV but i do need a range of 500kms min. I like the new Audi Q5 guess in 1.5 yrs this will be available with hybrid ( but i prefer 100% EV). maybe the new BMW I5?? time will tell
  10. car has great balance and neutral handling in corners even at high speeds. Chassis could easily handle 200 more horses ( and 200kg less weight ..)
  11. as long as the car is under warranty i would always bring it to the dealer for servicing to keep that. Also resale value might be lower if maintenance is done by locals and not a dealer. I see you have a 250 6 cylinder, i drove that for 4 years 150k km and nothing went wrong not even a lightbulb. Servicing at a dealer then is only the regular maintenance, liquids etc and i always found it correct, not expensive. Maybe asking what it will cost and you can try to bring that price down? A 300hybrid i will always bring to the dealer because of the electrics/hybrid systems. more complicated and also regular software updates etc.
  12. no brainer for me. only 25 quid will give you a better looking better driving car. i would go for it
  13. sound is a very personal thing but i find the ML system on the IS300H i drive disappointing. I also had it in my previous IS250 and that was far superior. it could be an idea to visit an aftermarket specialist in high end soundsystems . could be cheaper and better?
  14. must have been on request of the marketingdepartment, cannot sell a car without communicating it is sporty or sports or racy or tested at the nurburgring and so on. i never use them. flappy paddles on a cvt box is complete nonsense.
  15. Now it could be me but this morning around 11.00 i saw it again! I am driving a 300 F-Sport in the color F-White. One could say this is rather white to say the least. If it is dirty it it is just white but when cleaned it can have an alarming effect.. Like this morning. Nice summers day, blue sky and the freshly cleaned Lexus baking in the sun. When walking towards the car with the sun behind me the reflection of the sunlight from the paint is so agressive i literally find it difficult to look at the car. I have to almost close my eyes or put sunglasses on. Could be my age ( 55) but i was wondering if others have seen a similar effect?
  16. This is quickly turning into the best thread of 2016 by far. Seems like Andrew is trying to rebuild a lexus in a different solar system, maybe NASA can help?
  17. how about bringing the car to a dealer and on the way stop at the doctor? fastest way to get help asap..
  18. my Fsport does have that. when i lock the car from the outside the mirrors fold. this can be adjusted with the settings so i can set it not to do so. isnt this standard in the UK?
  19. Wow, did you take the wrong medicine?
  20. brakepads should NOT move and there should NOT be any sound from the brakes. have a look www.ebcbrakes.com/articles/brake-pad-rattle/
  21. how about phoning another dealer (s), ask to speak to the chief mechanic explain the problem and ask if moving brake pads can be a cause?
  22. hang on, the knocking brake noise is normal....? in all 38 years of enthusiastic motoring i have never experienced a knocking sound from the brake area. a sound that gets worse running over speed bumps? i would immediately bring my car to the dealer for inspection as brakes should be no risk 100% if the dealer tells you it is normal because of "moving pads" just go somewhere else. Take No risk.

  24. i always always always hose it down with a high pressure water pistol before entering the carwash ( dont wash myself too much trouble). those little grains of sand will create damage to the paint for sure.
  25. how about bringing it to another dealer?
